I am a st vincent de paul volunteer in the detroit area. the drugs i am researching seem incredibly inexpensive on the drug pricing calculator. can i send the client to the participating pharmacy and expect to see the same price (or nearly so) at the counter using the pdf card?

Nancy - Yes. The drug pricing tool gives the most accurate pricing for using our Drug Discount Card. The prices do fluctuate some, so the Drug Pricing Tool may not be 100% accurate. We recommend checking the price on the day the patient plans to go to the pharmacy - as the prices can change daily. For the most accurate price, have the Pharmacist run the card before purchasing the medications.

As a free clinic ed who only serves uninsured (or underinsured) patients, how do we get a list of what medications are covered by this card. we cannot send our patients to the prescription counter without knowing if they will get the drug or not. thank you. m. lofgren executive director health and hope medical outreach hhmo.org

Answer:

Unfortunately there is no master list of Drug names and prices with the discount card. The price depends on the medication and the pharmacy where the customer is purchasing their medication. So a drug may have one price at CVS, and a different price at a Walgreens across the street.
