One month, and hours of calling and getting hung up on, I was told (by Ms. Maxwell, also helpful) to call and ask for the Account management Team to get results. I called and was connected to Kiana who was the kindest most helpful person ever. She was able to resolve a problem I had with two cameras that stopped working and no longer had any support. She took the time to make sure all my concerns were answered and taken care of. Than you Kiana for being the customer service specialist we all wish to talk to. Brian
We signed up for ADT and have had nothing but issues and problems from doorbell not working and representatives getting overly friendly with my wife, and so inconsistent with their so called promises of free equipment and having things fixed properly which hasn't happened. If you're thinking about getting security in your home avoid ADT at all costs. This company Is a joke, no wonder there's a class action lawsuit against them.
Horrible company. They don't call you back to help like they should and let you get past the 1 month period for refund. Then you're locked in to owing them thousands of dollars. I wasted hours on the phone trying to get my system set up. Never using adt again

I signed up for one year, somehow the company has a contract that says five years and I tried to cancel after year one.no go...after year two...they want me to pay 1600. For their equipment which I have been paying monthly for two years. Plus it takes a month to schedule a technician for a problem...and they have never once responded to any kind of alarm! Then they threatened me with this binding contract I supposedly signed...but they never did. FRAUD!
3/8/2024 update:
The saga continues. The boilerplate response appeared after my review, offering me to email their "always there" address. I did. They suggested setting up a "virtual tech appointment," to which I agreed. The appointment was set for noon on Friday, but no one called (so much for 'always there'), which is very rude and careless in my books.
Then, around 2:20 PM, the tech finally called. I had to explain what I needed three times (I'm not exaggerating), and after being put on hold for multiple 20 to 30 minute intervals, I was told that NONE of my existing Google/Nest devices would work with ADT+, and to make it work, I would have to shell out $460 + tax. When I asked for any sort of deal, they basically inflated the prices only to then offer me a "discount."
Summary:
- The sales rep lied through his teeth.
- The service people lied about the appointment time.
- The "manager" who tried to give me a "discount" also lied about the prices. And, finally:
- None of the existing Google/Nest equipment works with ADT+; oh, and they don't support any smart locks.
Would you consider doing business with this company? Right, neither did I. What a shame. A total disgrace.
This company lied about their money back guarantee. They promised a deal with app access. It's been 2 months with no app access (they want to charge more) and two technicians have came. When I asked to speak to the manager to cancel she lied and said I only have one technician visit scheduled. When I offered to show proof of the emails and text she refused to look at it and said, "I am going by my system." She wanted to charge $700 to cancel. This is the most unprofessional company I've ever experienced in my life. Please take caution when joining ADT. They will scam you
First they try to get you to buy everything. Get only what you need. It is a very good system until you have a problem. My cameras lost connection and one person finally said they would fix free. Tech came and wanted $58 for call and $169 for first half hour. I said no. So I've been paying like $75 for over a year for non working cameras. ADT is a rip off. Laws against ripping off elderly, getting lawyer

TERRIBLE COMPANY. Avoid them if at all possible. Been paying monthly since 2018. ADT System malfunctioning in three locations at our business. Called Customer Service and they wanted me to spend a half day testing, pulling batteries and reinstalling the sysetm myself. Finally asked for a serviced tech and they charged $59 plus repair costs.

I had to have ADT come out on 5 separate occassions to look at my system. The system would not record and the ring door stop working. After the 5th time, I wanted to cancel my service. (Seems easy enough. If your equipment is not working as promised iI should be able to cancel) They told me, i would need to pay $2,700 the cost of the equipment that did not work, to get out of my contract. Beware of this company and i will NEVER use their system. I have already had 5 members of my family and friends cancel their service.

I have a problem with my bill, called customer service to find out the problem. The customer service rep. Lisa could not help in any way and refused to let me speak to a manager. She kept cutting me off. I asked her did you send me notification of the changes she said we assume you know that. SO SO RUDE.
I will start shopping around for another company. I have been a customer for ADT for 13 years. If they don't care about their customers why should we care.
I have had ADT for 1 plus years. The sales person told me I had a 1 years contract. It turned into a 4 year contract. I have had to call 3 to 4 times to fix my out door camera. If you forget your verbal password, you won't get a password reset for 5 to 10 business days of NO SERVICE. Do not choose them. It is a scam. By the way, don't let them tell you there will be a service charge on their equipment.
I'm writing this review after a one year benign ADT customer, ADT is worst security service that you ever get, never 👎🏻 ever go with ADT for any reason they charge you for everything and every minute, you are going to pay half of your salary to them for no reason, customer service is worst, technical support is bad, technicians are not on time, they charge you almost for everything even with bad service, on top of it they have a cancellation policy the worst cancellation policy ever, 75% of remaining payment that's really a nightmare,
I suggest no ADT at all, Pls save your time and money with other companies.
Everything was fine until I moved. Since I've moved I haven't been able to get the hub to work. I've tried calling and canceling and have received no help. First call was told to call back during business hours. It was during business hours. Second time, after getting through the lengthy automated system, spoke with someone who said they'd transfer me. I was transfered and then hung up on. I tried the chat. I was apparently next in line and then 1st in line and then there were no representatives available to help me. They are very hard to reach if you want to cancel.

You can nit get a hold of a human being. It takes 5-10 minutes. What if you had a burglary or a fire?

We bought a house that came with an alarm system already installed and the old owners are still on the account and we've been trying to deactivate the system as the fire department has showed up to our door twice due to false smoke detector alarms. I have called multiple times and they tell me I am not on the contract and there is nothing that can be done, although we now own the system as it came with the house we have purchased and lived in for over a month. Initially, we had asked ADT to come out and link the current system to us as we OBVIOUSLY wanted to continue to use the existing equipment (2 cameras, alarms on all 4 doors and all 11 windows, smoke detectors and doorbell and keypad doorknobs also connected to the system) and when they got here we were told the equipment is "obsolete" and can't be reused and new equipment to replace what was already here would cost 10K… LIES, they just want to make money. In addition to all the frustration, the technician ended up braking the existing panel when he removed it, we told him to put panel back after he told us everything needed replacement, we told him we wouldn't be using ADT, we now have a brand new touch screen panel that is broken and has tape on it thanks to the incompetent technician, an alarm system that is still activated with the old owners who do not know what is going on, fire department coming out for false alarms, cameras outside and inside the house that can be accessed by strangers (huge privacy violation) and what are we being told? Nothing can be done about it. They are liars and scammers and it is beyond comprehension how on Earth this company is still in business! How are they not being sued for so much dishonesty by the vast majority of their customers?
At this point we are so infuriated that this is exactly what we want to do- hire a lawyer and sue them!
I just tried to change my service to self monitoring and was told I can't do that until my service contract is up. I am thinking okay a year - that's what I get. No I can't change my service to self monitoring (no payments) until April 4th of 2024! I signed up in April of 2021. No one ever informed me that I was signing up for a 3 year contract. In fact, I feel like they told me I could cancel at any time. Anyway, my advice is - Just Don't.

Every time you call you're on hold forever! You're lucky if you're not disconnected. They charge a ridiculous trip fee, 99.00 even though you're paying for installation! You have to complain to try and get that removed, usually with no luck. The alarm itself is great, especially since they use Google cameras now. On a positive note, the Tech's are awesome! It's the only reason I still use ADT
I am a government employee who worked at the Annual Syracuse fair ADT indicated I won a free security system for my home which never happened. Just a public warning announcement BEWARE.

Got nothing that was promised
Like many of the complaints, I'm having the same problem getting my refund. Been with ADT for over 7 years. Finally decide to cancel. Called in early June to cancel and thought that was done. They charged me for July. Called ADT again, the agent said it was a mistake and my account will get cancelled this time. Now it's August and I am charged again. Absolutely frustrating having to deal with this shady tactic with a company of this caliber. Over $22 they have lost a customer for life.
From the very beginning…ADT Non Security was. NIGHTMARE😵💫 based on the below:
-consistently inconsistent monitoring of my home
-malfunctioning equipment even after having new equipment sent out
-failure to send out a tech to the home (ADT Blue)
-incompetent techs that consistently transfer you from one person to another
-police showing up at my door while working the night shift yet ADT has NO record of the alarm going off
-techs and supervisors hang up in the midst of conversation and NEVER returning your call for assistance and a plea to discontinue the DIS service of ADT
-district managers NOT wanting to get involved in assisting w disputes
-technicians quitting based on the way ADT treats their customers
-being kept on the phone consistently for greater than 1.5 hours
My advice: select another customer friendly security service that value their customers and the system actually works!

Our father used ADT for years. After he passed away, we notified the company of his passing and need to terminate service. There was no contract in place. It took numerous calls and letters until 10 months later, we were told service was finally cancelled. The entire time we were charged, always being told the company had not been notified of any termination or that the process hadn't been completed. Would never use this company again.
They install motion sensors so high that it didn't react when my business broke and robbed. Their technician simply told me that it was ADT fault but when I call them for compensation of my loss they even refused to take responsibility. Zero star from me
First of all, if the previous homeowner had ADT, expect to be physically bombarded by a sales rep. The moment you move in. The guy was so pushy and insisted on "doing a walk through" even though my sister told him numerous times no (my husband and I were out at the moment and my sister was helping us move). She was the only one there and didn't feel comfortable letting someone waltz around the house. He came back as we were continuing to move stuff in and through our exhaustion of the day somehow convinced us into thinking it would be a good idea to sign up for a 3 YEAR CONTRACT. Second of all, if something malfunctions, or is not working, just expect them to tell you to fix it yourself, or else they can send someone out to help for a significant fee. Our camera stopped working months ago and our motion detection malfunctioned so I'm not even sure why we pay a monthly fee when nothing works. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of ADT. So much for feeling "protected".
Terrible service! Reps transfer/dump calls when they don't have an answer or they simply drop off the call. I had set and confirmed an appointment to replace our smoke alarms for the sale of our home. Nobody showed on the date of install and when I called I was continuously transferred and/or dropped off. Horrible hiring, training and accountability issues. DO NOT USE ADT!
…is easier at home or work than cancelling service. I had to listen to the spiel for staying with ADT. I tried to get to the point having made my mind up and was informed they had to give me the information before I could cancel! I'll never use ADT again just on the basis it is extremely difficult to end your service.
ADT customer service is VERY RUDE. They hang up on me, transfer me to an another department, and just plain rude.
