“Contacted them 2-3 times weekly”

They send a technician out on July 24,2020. They recommended that HVAC be replaced-- it's from 2002 & it's not cooling. Thermostat is set at 70, but the house reads 75-77 degrees. I have my dad, a 96 yr old VETERAN whose bedbound living in the house. They keep giving me the runabout between the Heat/AC company & authorization dept and have not reach a decision while we are burning up in the heat of summer. Very unethical practices and poor customer service.

Have a broken water pipe, No water for over 2 weeks. Lousy product - be sure and read all of the fine print. They will look for every possible way not to pay. Hard to get service - and it takes forever. Customer service is lousy and not helpful. Almost impossible to find a contractor that will work with them. Even if they let you try and find your own quality contractor the contractor still can't do the work without asking AHS for approval, and the good contractors refuse to deal with them.

The worst customer service on the planet, filled with phone trees, no way to get back to the last agent, constantly explaining the EXACT same thing repeatedly to agents with no repair knowledge and poor language skills. Dishonest subcontractors misdiagnosing issue. RUN AWAY!

If I could give 0 stars I would. DO NOT waste your time and money with AHS. I have been without a refrigerator for 2 weeks now, living out of a cooler because they are refusing to pay out. They have sent 3 contractors to my house thus far that are not qualified to make the necessary repairs. However all three have said the same part is broken- but AHS refuses to acknowledge that and keeps trying to send another contractor out to look.
Customer "service" is an absolute nightmare, they talk you in circles with no resolution. Don't bother escalating because they won't help you either.

In spite of having the top of the line home warranty, we are always left with unresolved issues and huge out of pocket expense. Contractors refuse to give detailed work order enabling them to charge sky high prices for work that were not needed. Like saying we had a gas leak when a water heater went out. We had no gas leak but we were charged$400.00 out of pocket expenses to repair it! We have more, similar stories for each interaction with American Home Shield. We have had a service contract with them for 6 years! Will not renew!

American Home Shield has refused to supply me, a platinum level warranty customer, a receipt for the installation of a furnace. I have spent over 6 hours on the phone with their "customer service" call center and been promised 3 times over a week's time, that they would email it over. I am under contract with a buyer for the sale of my house, and the lender will not move forward without the receipt. AHS does not care about their customers, no matter how much you pay. I have been forced to hire an attorney as I am now going to be forced into foreclosure after being under contract with this buyer for 3 months! AHS should not be allowed to be in business, and I would give them ZERO STARS if I could.

My wife and I purchased a home in October 2023 with an American Home Shield Warranty. Before we learned this was like putting money down the toilet, we purchased AHS warranties for two of our other homes. In January our stove quit working so we filed a claim. A technician was dispatched who determined the parts needed to repair the stove are not available anywhere. Every time we call AHS we are told they are waiting on parts (the parts that cannot be found).

A kitchen stove is an essential appliance. We cannot cook at home. Have not been able to since January and it is now April. This is so unacceptable and we feel we were robbed by AHS as there is no resolution. Calling the service line takes you to another country with non native English speaking people who offer no help. DO NOT BUY AMERICAN HOME SHIELD WARRANTY unless you don't expect anything in return, which is what we have received. Nothing for our money.

Last year in August 2023, my AC malfunctioned, and I promptly contacted American Home Shield to send a technician for inspection and repair.

Despite multiple calls and inquiries for updates, I was consistently informed either to wait for a part that would allegedly arrive months later or to bear the cost of a new AC unit myself. I chose to wait, believing that the issue would be resolved in a timely manner as per what they told me.

However, each subsequent contact with your customer service yielded the same response - delays due to part availability, with promises that the part would arrive by January 2024. Disappointingly, January passed without any communication from American home shield end, prompting me to follow up in February.

They deny most claims. They find some small print that says why they won't cover, usually based on whatever wording the contractor puts in their note. The contractors that they send are usually from places with terrible reviews. So you pay for the insurance, but also have to pay for a diagnosis which is $100 a visit, just for them to say it's not covered

This company is not a good company. They charge you $100.00 for someone to come out and they do not do what you ask. Some of the companies they use are subpar. I asked to cancel my policies and I had to go through 3 to 4 people to finally get them canceled because they kept stalling. Then the cancellation fees are like paying your next month premium. I felt like I was bound and gagged in the basement trying to get out. Keep your money. Go to a better company.

They do not honor their own contract. I need $2100 in HVAC work, and AHS is only paying $235. The "contractor" wants to charge me $1800 for the refrigerant only (10 lbs of R410a), thats not even the labor to install it or fix th issue! Call AHS and all i get is robot/scripted customer service. They should be paying me $1500, but are paying basically nothing. My regular HVAC said repair (without warranty) is $2100, and of that, only $200-$300 is the refrigerant itself. Got work done locally, who has R410a refrigerant at $65/LB! I did speak with AHS executive offices, who says price can vary a bit like fixing a car; Well $1800 vs $450 is a lot more than a BIT! Do not use AHS ever. Always an argument and you will get no where with customer no-service, the Live people are robots with scrips who can't do anything, or won't. They are all owned by Frontdoor, so best to avoid all their subsidiaries which also include Candu Home Solutions, Frontdoor Cayman, Frontdoor Global Holdings, Frontdoor India, Home Security Association (AHS), Landmark Home Warranty, OneGuard in AZ, TX, NV, Selerio Ltd., Stewared of TX, Streem LLC, and US Hazard Disclosure.

Tip for consumers:
Run from AHS and all affiliated companies. All Crooks.

I Have a home warranty package that I pay for every month through American Home shield. They take out $81.99 every month for this.
I called them about two weeks ago and filed a service request with them to send a contractor out to me for my plumbing. I paid the $125.00 service fee for a contractor to come.out and fix my plumbing. They told me that they would have a contractor contact me within 24-48 hours. I waited. They never had anyone call me. I called them back and still no contactor. I had to call them every day so far for the past two weeks.now.its same story every time they don't have any contractors in my area. I live within 30 minutes of a big City. Then a couple of days ago some woman called me with kids screaming in the background, dogs barking and she sounded groggy and muffled saying that I needed to call her back and she was from American home shield or she would cancel my service request that I already paid $125. Service fee for. I called American home shield back again only to have them say that they.just had her call to update me that they still do not have a contractor. I have asked to speak to a manager each time that I have called them in regards to this matter only to have some representative with a really thick accent say they still do not have any available contractors in my area.and that they do not have any managers but they will put me through to the escalation team and have them contact me back but then they never do. The last time I called 1/27/2024 they told me they would reimburse me but I had to pay out of pocket and get my own contractor first. I said No this is why I pay so much for a home warranty package every month and I already paid the $125 service fee for them to get a contractor. They still have not called me with any contractors and no one from the escalation team has even tried to contact me either. And It's been two weeks now.

Tip for consumers:
Don't use American home shield.

Gas hot water heater went out would not lite and was leaking water. Assigned contractor came out and submitted request to change out a gas water heater. AHS agreed to pay for new water heater and installation then told me my out of pocket was $1753.20 for stuff not covered, like new flex lines and a new p trap on a 1 in drain line. I replaced it all myself in two hours at a total cost of $662. New flex lines, $1.82 of PVC fitting and comparable hot water heater.

They don't cover anything an incentivize their vendors to find things wrong so it's not covered by the warranty! You can always count on them lying about their warranty products and policies. I will never recommend them to anyone else. Budget Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing was horrible. Then the second opinion came out and was honest but did his own thing. This caused issues with the warranty company. How do you ignore a service order and go with your gut instinct instead of following the protocol? I'm not a plumber but I can read well. TJ would have been the best if he would have gone through the house. He wanted $200 to pull out something that belongs to MSD. How can I be held liable for a sewer vent? It's not the mainline! Arnon… come on now. Do better. American Home Shield refuses to give me a refund for the contract I have. They said I will only get $79 back after spending $475 to purchase it. Who the hell do they think they are?
Do we have any power? Are we to blame for allowing the companies to continue to rape us financially? I call BS on the system! I demand my refund. This is my first attempt to get attention. See the next one…

Do not try to talk to anyone. They are all liars!

AHS is a company full of scammers, liars, and thieves. Whatever you do, DO NOT buy a policy from them. They would rather spends thousands of dollars patching on an appliance than spend the SAME money to replace the unit. They only guarantee the the contractor's work for 30 and, when the appliance fails again (and it will), you have to pay another service fee. They will have you wait for weeks to get on the schedule and, when you asking for a cash out, they will SCREW YOU OVER. I will be canceling both of my policies.

Just save your money monthly and pay for your own repairs. This company has no morals.

March 27 2020 I made an electrical claim. Iam still going back and forth with them. They claim one day ot requires access which 2 of the 3 electricians they've sent out for diagnostics told us it did not that it's a simple wire replacement. The next day they tell me o we dont replace electrical wire. They promise me call backs from supervisors to resolve this issue. To date I've received no call backs. Bit I've called numerous times. Put on hold an hour plus been hung up on and lied to repeadedly. They are fraudsters and will take your money. Run from them dont waste your time or money. I just filed a complaint with the BBB today.

Air conditioning went out. Covered under my fully paid for policy. The contractor demanded over two thousand dollars in cash to complete the repair. I refused and am now working with a well respected Heating and Air company that gives me options and takes credit or checks. Have never encountered such an unethical and probably illegal company as American Home Shield. Obviously will not renew. Out all the money for the Warranty. Don't do it.

Their service is a scam. I have been a member for over a year. I paid for my membership and each service call is another $75. I had 2 service call that either service was denied or the last time they damaged my appliances. Not count hours and hours I had to take off the work to deal with their customer service with no result.

AHS leaves much to be desired as far as customer service. My refrigerator went out on 9/5/23. The vendor scheduled a repair date for 9/26/23. This is insane. I have 2 medications that needs to be refrigerated. I have already wasted $250.00 worth of food due to this problem. Multiple phone calls to AHS (customer service) has been to no avail and the vendor "Express Service" won't follow-up with them or me, in request for an earlier date. I will be doing a review on them also.

Tip for consumers:
I am really angry with customer service. They have asked me to call back to them on 4 occasions in attempt to resolve this with the vendor (who will not call them, or me back). I've asked for another vendor and have been given stupid reasons for why this isn't feasible. This makes no sense to me.

They are not covering anything, you pay for 90% of the cost if you repair through them if you hire contractors you pay less.
They are collecting the money and each time you call to take about the issues, you have to have wait for ours no matter which department you call, the only department would answer you is the sale department, you call, it's not because of COVID-19 all the time anytime.

There are lots of uncovered costs.
Don't waste your time and money.

Please, please don't wash your money down the drain with this company. Place that $84.99 in a savings account and use it for home repairs. This product will NEVER pay for itself.
1) The companies they contract with are nearly always 1-star kind of places that are neither reputable nor honest. That's no wonder, as AHS is horrible to its providers and pays them pennies on the dollar. Reputable repair companies (I've spoken with several) have all broken ties with them. You cannot choose your own repair company. There will be ONE vendor in your area available, maybe 2.
2) If you have a big-ticket item, it will not be covered. Your contract will say that it is there to cover normal wear and tear. But not if it's a $3,000 evaporator coil. They'll pay for labor and a few other things. You'll owe $3,000 of the $3700 bill.
3) You will WAIT and WAIT and WAIT for repair. The repair company will indeed call you within 24-hours per contract, but they will not be able to come assess your leaking water heater for 3 more days. Then they will need to put you on the schedule for replacement once AHS approves it, which will take another 2-3 days. So plan on being without hot water for a week. You will call AHS and find that there is no "emergency" or "escalated" importance process for claims. You contract will state that your vendor does not have to arrive at the residence before 7 days. And I promise, as a warranty claim, you are not the priority. A friend will be able to call them separately for service and they will magically be able to respond the following day.
4) You'll still have to pay - a lot. Even if the cost of the water heater is covered, there will be elements that "must be modified for liability" that will cost 75% of the total cost of replacement ($1400 - we replaced on our own for $2200 the next day instead of waiting a WEEK for water).

Friend, it's just not a wise investment.

BEWARE: We have had this company for several years and normally the service was okay. Lately more and more service companies will not work for them.
In Dec. 2019 our heat pump failed and it was diagnosed as the compressor. They sent a replacement to THEIR contractor in a reasonable amount of time. GOOD? - Not so fast the recharge of the refrigerent requires about 18 lbs for which THEIR repair company wanted 900.00. The refrigerent costs about 120.00 for a 25 lb. bottle.
AHS claims this is not their problem! We had to deny them the installation on general principles of honesty and fairness.

This company is basically a legal scamming company. They take your money in exchange for offering up only ONE STAR businesses to do any work that you put in service requests for. You pay $150 for each service request for these one star crappy businesses as well! Some reviews are so bad, they said they didn't even want to leave one star and wish they could leave NEGATIVE STARS! AHS doesn't seem to care either, and all they say is that reviews are "subjective", even when thousands upon thousands of people are leaving these reviews. I was 30 days in when I figured this out and cancelled, and then they withheld one month from my refund and also tacked on a "cancellation fee"; which was about the cost of one month as well. So they basically robbed me $156 for NOTHING.

BEWARE AND DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! My friend is a plumber and told me that he's been cleaning up AHS messes for the past thirty years! Again, AHS doesn't seem to care what true professional honestly say about them.

Tip for consumers:
It is unreal that they use ONE STAR BUSINESSES and then seem to act surprised by all the one star reviews they get for it, and just keep repeating the "reviews are subjective" BS.

Products used:
NOTHING USED - cancelled one month into policy. Feel completely robbed.
