I was gifted my Altra Vanish carbon shoes since I could not afford the $240 price tag. Unfortunately, after my first run they showed wear & tear. Then 86 miles in, there were dime-sized holes in both soles. I sent pictures to Altra. They claimed "normal wear and tear" and rejected my request for help. I've been a loyal Altra customer for 12 years. I've since researched and purchased another company's carbon plate, wide toe box shoes, and am very pleased with them. Plus, they were $100 less than Altra's Vanish. Altra lost a loyal customer.
Bought a pair, didnt fit, the return process on line wouldn't work. Was told to forward info in email.a month later im being blanked everywhere. Rip off company. Avoid
I really love their shoes. I have worn the Torrin, Lone Peak, Superior, The One 2, and the Escalante. Love the zero drop and wide forefoot! But every time I order a pair it's always hit or miss. My last order I checked out as a guest and ordered a pair and never got a confirmation email. My credit card was processing the order but it never went through. Huge bummer, I ordered again and it finally went through but now it's 4 days later. I also always seem to get shoes with too short laces. Never long enough to double knot them. My Lone Peak 2.5 had long laces and now my new 3.5 have short laces in the same size. I ordered a pair of The One a few years back and one lace was long and the other was short. So bizarre. Everytime I send an email or a tweet to Altra to send me new laces I never hear back. Get it figured out please!

DO NOT sign up for ALTRA emails unless you want to permanently be on their list. Their unsubscribe does not work. Very frustrating. And when you write the company, they respond that you will be removed in 30 days- Really 30 days- why does it take so long. And on top of that they do NOT remove you
Altras feel great, are over priced and don't last long. Some habits are hard break. Don't start cocaine or altas
You have to call Altra to get the discount code for the month and then search to find where to enter it. Illogically its not on the payment page like 99% of all other web sites. Its weirdly on one of the first pages of the order. Makes no sense. Had to call and have help- and then even weirder- they didnt offer to take the order. Lucky for them I was really interested- otherwise heck there are other shoes out there w more committed service.
I was hoping to finally find a pair of women's sneakers to find out they run small. This was my first pair and I was really excited. When they came, I was so upset that they were too small. I bought the biggest size that they sell in women's so I would have to get a men's. Most likely will try a men's but really like the women colors.
Customer service told me it takes a week for an order to get packaged and shipped and they lied to me about when models would be in stock on an earlier conversation causing me to keep checking the site daily. Now that they are ordered I'm waiting waiting waiting for them to ship and no one can do anything.
The worst customer service I've experienced in a very long time. I can't believe such a reputable company has no problem ignoring their paying customer for WEEKS, then finally responds as if nothing has happened. I was so excited about ordering shoes for my daughter's cross country season. I emailed them the day after we received the shoes requesting an RMA (as they indicate on their website) so we could get the right size. I considered buying the right size before returning the new pair we'd already received... until I didn't hear back for days, which was odd, and then it turned into weeks with NO response. I reached out again wondering if my email got lost. And nothing. Almost 4 WEEKS later I finally got an email saying "an RMA has been emailed and once we receive the shoes it'll be another few weeks until you see your card credited." No apology or acknowledging my previous emails. Cross country season is over next week.
Update: Since contacting them almost two weeks ago, I haven't received a refund and will have to contact them again after "10 business days." Don't order from them directly, their parent company IconFitness (or whatever it's called) has terrible customer service. Order from another retailer to avoid this refund nightmare.
Since I've had consistent difficulty in finding shoes that fit me (size us 4.5-5 depending), I heard Altra was a candidate and decided to try them. I tried ordering off Zappos at first but my purchase was declined due to an overzealous credit card monitoring. So I ordered from them directly and the products were shipped quickly, but oddly three shoes in three separate boxes (seems to not be cost effective, but what do I know about merchandising, warehousing and shipping, right?). Unfortunately, they were still too big so I requested a return and was given three separate return shipping labels. I shipped them back and they arrived, but did not hear from them about the refund for a month. I got no confirmation that they received the return or that my refund is forthcoming. I emailed them after the month wait and they responded, but offered no apology. What if I had forgotten? It seemed like I would never have received a refund. I just find it shady when you, the customer have to remind businesses to refund you. It's like they're counting on people who forgot. If they were annoyed about the shipping costs, they can maybe consolidate having to ship shoes separate and/or charge a flat fee for returns like some retailers.
I bought these shoes for my son. He is flat footed and wears orthotics. The mid part of the shoe is too narrow to accommodate an orthotic device.
I have only positive emotions cooperating with this site. To be honest, I'm not so good runner, nevertheless, thanks to the shoes I bought, the process of running now is much better for me. I enjoy it.
I bought a pair of altra shoes in a local store. One of the strings torn after 5 uses. Great shoes but dissatisfied with the quality. I returned them and got my money back.
I bought some cool running shoes with some really cool vibrant color from them. They feels perfect and comfortable to wear while running and walking.
I already own a couple of pairs of Altra running shoes and love them dearly. Nice, wide toe box so I never feel my toes jamming into the end. And today I ordered a uniquely cut rain coat that allows for easy on and off when wearing a backpack. Only thing that irks me about buying online is they don't have "fit guides" to see what their measurements are for each size.
Got the Smith Boot. Love the running shoes, but this is poor. Very uncomfortable and definitely not worth the price. Hope it gets better with some wear. Will not order this particular shoe again.
I bought some Altra Running shoes from another website and there was defect with them. The other website would not help with a return, but Altra went above and beyond to make things right. They've earned my business moving forward.
According to the carrier the shoes were damaged. Now Im waiting for the next shipment. Nothing special at all from Altra to solve the issue that wasnt my fault.
AltraRunning is an amazing business with incredible products. Since I switched to their running shoes 4 years ago, I have never looked back. I have been fortunate to have only had two issues in my shopping experiences with them, and throughout both the customer service department was phenomenal. They solved my problems efficiently and with what I envision was probably a smile through the phone receiver. Thanks for being Amazing! Keep up the good work. Ordered my fourth pair of Altras. Changed to Torin due to the sale from Intuition yet knew extra cushioning would benefit me. Couldn't wait for my new shoes and when I got them and tried them on they are short! Same 9.5 as the others then saw some reviews on Amazon saying same thing :( I see a review on a great return policy. I will try to exchange them. Won't run/ walk in anything else.
I bought some Altras a few years ago and have worn them out, and the store is now defunct, too. So I ordered on line. The wide, platypus-like toe box was perfect for my feet but the shoes I just got are too narrow. Where are those toe boxes please?
I love your shoes and I understand how to increase shoe size for running
But Alta shoes sizing seems to be all over the place making it very difficult to determine what size to order

This recent order of the casual shoe I ordered in an 8 because your shoes are always at least one full size too small compared to shoe sizes from anywhere else I have ever tried in the USA
I usually wear a 7 so I ordered an 8 from you hoping this would be accurate for a casual shoe NOT a running shoe where I want a size larger than my foot. Sometimes a 9 in Alta shoes sometimes 8 sometimes 8.5?
I read the reviews carefully to try to make a better guess what size to order but often feel it is no more than a guess which is ridiculous
Anyway, the eight is way too small I cant even get the shoe on comfortable feels like I would need two full sizes more than my usual 7 just to fit!
But I read the reviews and most women who did that found the shoes too large and slipping of their feet
I will Return the shoes
In the past I have order two pair in two different sizes and kept both trying to make them work
Or giving one away
I cant keep doing this
But I love your shoes as they have cured many issues for me with pain when running etc
Including plantar fasciitis which is now gone! For two years just from only wearing Alta running shoes!
Im sure you have noticed many reviews of Complaints about sizing

I love altra. I love the running shoes (and the benefits... no more shin splints!). However as a broke college student, I try to prolong the life of my Altra sneakers as long as I can. I threw in the towel yesterday. I went on the website to order and bang there was a pair on sale for 60 dollars (would have been 110). That was a steal! I go to order them and they are out of stock of all colors and sizes. All I ask is that they take the idea off if it is out of stock. Or acknowledge on the homie screen temporarily unavailable
