It gives the option of having a $#*! therapist, but not for a white therapist. Woke crap! Stay away

So like most people I saw the commercials I went to check out better help and I am on extremely low income Social Security and food stamps Etc can barely afford to pay my rent I noticed they had a financial aid section where you can apply to get a discount well I did and it wasn't a discount at all it's a joke they still expect you to pay almost $60 a week which is absolutely outrageous considering us on low income can't even afford that so it's not any financial aid it's just another door slammed in your face with a company that claims to help people but lacks compassion and understanding. If you're going to claim to help people on low income it should be like 10 or $20 a week if that I don't care if people think that's ridiculous you know what's ridiculous is being on low income barely being able to pay your rent barely being able to pay your phone bill paying all your bills and you're left with maybe $40 after everything and then being told by a company here's your reduced cost for the small price of $200 a month absolutely ridiculous. With this horrible economy nowadays I'm surprised anyone can even afford the regular price.

As an abuse survivor and an educated reader and self improvement addict I can say that most therapist on here are very "general". Like a family doctor who knows little bits about every disease but is not a specialist. I find that with betterhelp too. Survive abusers for example have a fragmented self and memory. If my therapist who is supposed to be a specialist with trauma looks at me blanco and than starts talking about mindfulness which he did for 15 minutes. I tried 4 others. They are all very friendly. But I would stick to a specialist amd not through an app like this. You can change therapist with one click and you are a number. Why? All the therapist I talked to had to read my 1 message when I was already in a zoom call with them. Unprofessional and unprepared. 12 in a dozen.

My letter to the organization: I had a bad experience with you a few years ago and I am now having a repeat experience. I am in Brazil, I asked for an English speaking therapist because I an=m a US citizen living in Brazil. I was given a therapist in the US I made an appointment then was cancelled and told It was because I was not a US citizen? I am saddened and dismayed that the best on line therapy is so sloppy as for this type of error to happen? Not once but twice in 4 years? I gave up on thearapy the last time but because of life problems was willing to try again? I have done a lot of therapy in my life including online. I am always trying to get my children and grandchildren to talk to someone and they refuse to because they hear these kind of night mare stories that when you reach a point you need theory your just given a runaround not a lot different than the problems in life that your having, people lying,not keeping their word and misrepresenting themselves. If this is the best online therapy site god help us?
My letter to the therapist.She told me She could not see me because I was not a US citizen? I am a US citizen? I understand the laws and asked for a therapist in Brazil that spoke English but I was assigned to you. I had a bad experience with better help 3 years ago and have not had any therapy since because of this bad experience. It seems your top rating is undeserved?. Again I am getting the runaround. I have been very clear about where I am who I am and what I want? Why would we progress to an appointment and cancel its a shock to me levels Betterhealth credibility to zero again? I had a similar experience before because I was not in the same state as the therapist? But it was the same I had already paid waited 48 hours and had an appointment ready, I was ready to talk and then cancelled because of some law that you would think would be taken care of in the questionair before you paid and you would not have a chance to make an appointment then have it cancelled. I am going to give up again and look for a therapist online not connected to one of these sites. What makes it so sad is your hight rating which after finding this site I think is highly manipulated.

The counselors keep canceling one session after the other. I was never able to get a full session with anyone. They have wasted my time and money. NEVER AGAIN.

I signed up when there was a special discount. Maybe it was during the Christmas season. I was able to choose the gender, religion, nationality and belief system of my therapist. Included was video chatting, texting, emailing her at anytime and one on one sessions once a week catered to an issue I wanted to work on. It was super helpful and she is great at what she does. I tried it for 30 days and then I moved to another state but I will definitely log on again at some time and continue on. It is super affordable and who doesn't enjoy therapy while in your pajamas? I love it.

Their guidelines used to state that they couldn't guarantee the therapist they hired were licensed. The one I was paired with told me to meditate for 5 minutes because I had a severe anxiety disorder, and would randomly message me at 3am. They also recommended CBT for OCD which is now known to be harmful, so they don't update their research very efficiently. Don't be fooled by the price, sessions last roughly 30-45 minutes, meaning you get half the time you would for typical private therapy. Comparing it to my old private therapy, which was £200 a month for 4 hours, £180 for 2 hours is not a good deal for those who aren't eligible for cuts. I would be highly against this site if you are looking for therapy for reasons such as mental illness/disorders or severe trauma. And there are tons of free sites that can offer you help for things less than that. Overall, I felt tricked.

After making one month payment for the therapy I have chosen a counselor. Although she accepted me as a client she was not responsive and I lost my time and energy with her. I chose a second counselor. We have arranged an appointment. After waiting for the appointment she cancelled it at the very last minute saying that her husband is ill. And she did not guide me the other day even though she has promised. I have found a third counselor. In our first session he told me that I need emdr and we could do it in the next session. I have waited for the next session but his camera was not working which is necessary for emdr. We have arranged a third appointment. One day before he told me that his camera will not be working. He told me that it is because of the hurricane. I would like to quit my membership and get a full refund but they do not accept.

Betterhelp makes mental health a joke! There is no reason for a therapist to be aggressive with a client. Will never return!

Avoid like the plague, this is a wholy incompetent and disreputable organisation. Please use BACP or some other regulated listing to find better help.

When you see another gaslighting ad from BetterHelp while watching a YouTube video, think on this: Google OWNS YouTube so unless you've expressly influenced your Google privacy settings (if that even stops their violations of privacy) then they will stay on "default" setting. BetterHelp is preying on strategic gps collected email and text data ALONG with what you say and type into your cell phone.
This is folded over into YouTube... THEIR company.
BetterHelp has adopted only a Silicon Valley mentality of the "help" industry.
It's criminal and no one has yet prosecuted them...

Unfortunately they seem to just be able to charge you when they want and NEVER respond when asked about the wrongful charges. I contacted them six times to try and correct a charge they made and never received anything in return from them. Conviently they dont post a telephone number to reach them so they can just ignore you no problem!
