They have been telling for years they are going to fit a smart meter seeing as mine is broken. Now they say I'm not edible for a smart meter. Because I can't give them a meter reading they estimate my bills which really means they will just take as much as they like. £700 for one month. Avoid these scammers. Once they have you you will never get free of them.

I have recently switched energy providers, gas and electricity, to Bulb.co.uk. The signing up process was quick and simple. Communication from Bulb has been excellent. Their gas and electric tariffs are extremely reasonable.

So, I can't fault bulb so far. The best bit is that I got a £50 credit when I signed up and everyone that signs up is given a referral link to give to friends and family, and if they sign up using your link then you both get £50. I am in the process of making an official complaint to OFGEM about Bulb. Bulb incorrectly charged me for several months. The account charges were compared to the charges of 2 previous energy suppliers I spent a year with consecutively, totalling 2 years of supplied energy.

When the combined cost of energy used with the above-mentioned suppliers was compared to that of Bulb for the same amount of time, the difference in cost was astronomical. I also had one less appliance than I did with the previous energy suppliers when I joined Bulb, so less energy was used.

On top of this, the cost of energy spent at each supplier was roughly the same, with the difference being only a couple of pounds. In regards to Bulb's charges, nothing makes sense and someone is ready to look into this for me while I prepare to write to OFGEM, then wait for a response from them.

I've asked Bulb to email me chat logs for every conversation I have had with them, and also my entire billing in history PDF format. This was ignored by the person who responded to my complaint. I don't know whether Bulb tampered with my previous supplier's smart meter and used it knowing full well that was not part of our agreement, or if someone's incompetence is the reason for my outrageous bills. Either way, there will be a resolution.

I have gathered energy bills from my 2 previous suppliers who supplied energy to the same address, and I will need some answers as to why there is such a big difference between what they charged me and what Bulb did at the very same address.

To my surprise, I posted this review on Trustpilot and Bulb got them to remove it. After looking into this more, I discovered this has been happening to many other Bulb customers. I can also no longer access my Bulb account. So I have basically been penalised for sharing my experience. Their positive feedback is now irrelevant in my eyes.

I cannot recommend them. At first, everything seems nice, then they slowly start increasing charges making bills unaffordable. Their customer service is below standard. Please do your research before joining. Don't be fooled by their branding and claims.

Honestly the worst customer service I have ever encountered. It takes a month to respond to an email and they aren't capable of posting a cheque to refund me the balance of my account the took from my previous supplier. When I was transferred to them by ofgem they were described as "supplier of last resort" which I would wholeheartedly agree with! Stick to the reputable suppliers it is much simpler!

Not only is Bulb cheaper that ALL the other energy suppliers, but their energy is totally renewably sourced (wind, solar etc) And their website is a billion times more user friendly that all the other suppliers I have used and you can earn credit!

FOR YOUR OWN GOOD KEEP FAR AWAY FROM THESE CRUEL THIEVES!
Just beware if you are offered any kind of bonus/offer to join this energy company, as I'd like to warn you, as chances are, all the offer is, is bait to hook you and then you're stuck with them (if you can change company then do so asap).
Once you're with them, they play around with you as if you're just some tool for their own money making, similar to the way drug dealers may use people on the street. Once someone uses them, they blackmail you and then you're stuck.
They deal in scandalous, criminal and generally speaking illegal and underhanded activities, with the aim to force you, or put you under the impression that you're the one at fault irrelevant if it is true at all!
They will even randomly add huge sums onto you're bill, and then demand payment and threaten bailiffs etc. if not paid - yes - outright daylight thievery!
They really know how to provide the most polar opposite of any form of customer service.
They can contradict themselves, trip over their words in attempting to frame you, but without realizing, actually incriminate themselves in middle of attempting the above. They will answer the phone, but the minute they realize you are calling because of anything that will not serve them a benefit in some way, they hang up on you. They have no mercy, and will drink you dry.
DON'T DON'T DON'T fall for their traps, for your own good!
There are enough reputable companies out there to use, it is a shame for someone to fall for these cruel pitiful-answer-for-humans.

Tip for consumers:
Customer care is really low, and going to the ombudsman etc. (if that even helps) is sometimes the only way to set these criminals straight unfortunately...

BULB INVITED me to change to normal meter to a smart one. For free!
When the engineer came here I had 1pound and 20 p. The period that they took to switch to old to new was COVERED as they said, I didn't need to top up. Today I woke up with no electricity and my card to use in a paypoint arrived yesterday. So they activated my meter today.
At 9 o'clock i pay by card 20 pounds and bulb send me an email with a code to top up manually, I entered in the main meter and I waited after 1 hour my electricity was missing still, so I called over the phone and they asked me to pay other 10 pounds and to recall to ask the refunds of the previous 20s. I did the second time the 10 pounds worked so I have now like 9 pounds on my meter. The first payment of 20s is not related to any usage cause "I was covered until they activate my meter". So where are my 20 pounds? What kind of debit you charged me? Even if the coverage period was not free(but it was) how I spent 20 pounds? 1 week 20 pound 1 bed flat?
I need day by day the usage from the 8th of Jun to today please cause I want my 20s back!
This is thift, fraud

It was very easy to change supplier. It took only minutes in the end and Bulb then did all the hard work. They'll even cover exit fees if you have them.

Today (28th June 17) Bulb again passed on wholesale energy price savings to all customers. No other energy supplier has done this in 2017.

I've always been unsure about changing, then I read some reviews and I thought I'd give it a go. So glad I did change. I'm saving loads already and Bulb have just lowered their rates, the first to do it in 2017.

They have renewable sourced electricity and we can all refer friends and family. If you'd like to start with a £50 credit and start saving about £200 a year in costs, by all means cut and past the following link. Just remember to take out all the brackets around those dots. Finally the customer service, what can I say but it is second to none. Very personal and easy to speak too.
