My faithful little Canon PowerShot SD850 finally died after about 7 years' use, as the lens wouldn't retract and I kept getting error messages. I found your website after Canon told me that there were repair companies out there who might not be very reliable. For a very reasonable sum and in a timely manner, my camera is now back home and working just fine. Even though my husband is a semi-professional photographer with all the top of the line equipment, I prefer my little camera. Your staff handled the work very professionally. Thank you ever so much!

I have been waiting TEN MONTHS for my camera to be repaired and returned. The person I have been liaising with calls himself Stephen, at least in the e mails. He strung me along with comments such as, "Oh, you haven't received the camera yet? I'll check with the service department and check the status". From there nothing has transpired (there were over thirty e mails sent) and now, understandably, for the last three e mails I have sent to "Stealing Stephen" then there has been nothing in response... This is just to let others know that CAMERA AND PARTS CANNOT BE TRUSTED! I'm sorry to say that because four years ago, they handled a similar issue reasonably well - OK, it did take them four months to get the camera back. I love(d) my Canon G10 but now it's gone - into the black hole of Texas is it, wherever they call their "servicing department" home. I'm very disappointed that they have not stood by their claims; will not respond and have basically stolen my camera. Don't fall into the same trap that I and others have!

After dropping my G15 it displayed a lens error message. I was recommended to Cameras And Parts through a local store. The repair was done very quick (3 days), shipping back was just as quick. My works better than ever. I will use you again if I ever need a repair in the future. Thank you to all of your staff. It was a very good experience having my camera repaired there.

Had a really good experience on getting my canon fixed by them. I agree with some that communication is at most, only acceptable. I'll add though that anything I've had to send out to be fixed, communication is often non existent. Putting the communication as fair at best, everything else was perfect. When I did talk to them those, the lady I spoke with was very nice and helpful. I would recommend them.

I went through this site to get a dc / dc circuit board for my camera. Although the part had no instructions whatsoever on how to install it, I managed to get it installed. When I spoke to one of their technicians by phone, he was very helpful and walked me through it. I still dock them one star because if you by a part, I feel it should have installation instructions. I would still use them again for a future purchase.

Having problems with my Cannon Power Shot A590IS. Sent them an email and a reply was quickly sent suggesting I try something simple before sending for repair.
It worked! Kind and expert service.
Thank you! Will save your email address and recommend you to everyone I know who needs

If there were a way to give no starts, I would. Here's why:

My Cameras and Parts saga began on May 11,2014 when I found them on line through a search for Canon repair companies. The reviews seemed glowing on that site (it was theirs, after all!) and the prices were ridiculously attractive.

I emailed them about sending my camera and got an immediate answer. The email instructed me on how to send my camera and had this statement:

"Finally, send it with Tracking / Delivery Confirmation to the following address:
Cameras and Parts
1605 George Dieter, Suite 574
El Paso, Texas *******

That's it... Leave everything else to us!

If we have any questions at all, we'll contact you at the email address or phone number provided.

We'll perform our Complete Service / Repair Package on the camera and return it as promptly as we can for you."

Except that is not what they did.

Before sending my camera, I had another email exchange because I'd inadvertently put the wrong G series letter for my Canon. A person named Christina wrote me back immediately, a most pleasant email.

So I sent my camera on May 17. Excited that I was going to get my much-loved Canon G9 (which would not power up) repaired and back in my hands to use again! I got billed for the repair on May 27.

It is July 18,2014 and I have not received my camera.

I have called numerous times and, though they were quick to answer calls and emails before they received my camera, since then it's been difficult to nearly impossible to get any response.

I did manage to speak with someone named David on June 26. He told me that there had been a new development and that they had to order the part from Japan. (Really, he said that!) He said that the part was due to come in from Japan on Saturday, June 28 and that my camera should ship on Monday, June 30, via USPS. He thought I should get it by Thursday or Saturday (holiday on Friday, July 4).

The camera did not come and after numerous phone calls to Cameras and Parts over the course of a few weeks, I finally got a call back from a guy named Steve on July 8. The call came the very day I threatened to reverse the charges on my credit card for the $156.00 they had already charged me on May 27,2014.

He said the camera was set to go, but there was a payment dispute and it was set to go to collections. It turned out that as a result of my call, my order was flagged. He said he took the flag off, and that the camera would be shipped on Thursday, July 10.

When I told him we were leaving for vacation on Saturday, July 12, and that I'd really wanted my camera back by then, he suggested that I have it shipped to my vacation address. I nixed that idea... thankfully!

He told me that they had been remiss of returning phone calls because they were in the midst of some big inventory process and they were short-staffed. He said I was not the first complaint and that they needed to hire a service to answer calls.

We got back from vacation on Thursday, July 17, and there had been no camera delivery, though David assured me it should be here by Tuesday, July 15.

So, today, Friday, July 18, I decided to google negative reviews of Cameras and Parts and my heart sank. Before sending my camera to them for repair, I'd only read the reviews on their website. That, I now know was a bad idea. The negative reviews as a result of my google search today are overwhelming.

I also looked up the Better Business Bureau of El Paso and they have rated Cameras and Parts with an F.

I'm honestly befuddled. I don't know how or why a company would scam so many people, when apparently the do provide satisfactory services to, I guess, a select few. I just wasn't chosen to be one of those.

Shame on me for not doing my homework upfront. But, shame on Cameras and Parts for being a consumer rip-off.

They are aptly named... Cameras and Parts. (You send us your) Camera and (we will make you) Part (with it).

=(

BEWARE! They have had my camera since early May 2014. They answered 1 phone inquiry in early July. They have not responded to numerous phone calls, emails and a certified letter. They have my $500 camera and it appears to now be stolen as of 8/27/2014.

I couldn't be happier with the work that Cameras and Parts did on our Canon camera. The lens was jammed and and would not close up back in the camera. We thought we were facing another expensive camera purchase. Thankfully, someone on another website recommended Cameras and Parts because they experienced the very same problem. Now, our camera is as good as new; and we saved a whole lot of money going the repair route rather than the replace route. Thanks guys!

I recently sent my G12 in for service with Camerasandparts, and called to get some details worked out. The person I spoke with was very helpful and answered all my questions. He told me exactly how to send it and I did. He also said it wasn't necessary to send it "insured" as they cover the camera up to $600, which is a nice touch. The only possible wrinkle is while the camera was gone, I got an email from them explaining there was a potential other problem. I called and spoke to them and they explained that there was an issue with my flash. They said if I never use the flash, to not worry about it, but if I do, I "may" want to consider getting a part changed to the tune of $60 more. They said without the repair, the flash would eventually burn itself out. I authorized the repairs because if it failed, I'd have to send it back in. Was it legit, or a way to get more money? Who knows? I'm thinking it "probably" was legit because otherwise the guy wouldn't have told me not to worry about it if I never use the flash, as some people don't. Anyway, what I do know is they have fast, friendly service and I got my camera back in no time and it's working good as new.

This is just a small sample fo the frustration I have been experiencing with dealing with Camera and Parts over the last EIGHT MONTHS... yes, and I have LOST MY CAMERA as now noone is responding to me. I wrote in this Review site a few months ago...
Here are some of the (currently forty) e mails and responses I've had.

Hi Stephen,

No, nothing has arrived - eight months, no camera, no news. VERY disappointed with Camera and (no) Parts...

OK Ryan,

I am still bewildered as to why you weren't able to fix the camera - apart form the inordinate time span without hearing anything - and then only, as it seems, bad news. The issue is basically identical to the problem I asked you to fix back in 2013 - which you managed without a problem. So what was missing this time? A lens which won't retract and you can't fix it? Really?

Here is my experience with Cameras And Parts. To start off, I am a high school teacher in charge of our technical department. We have an emphasis in the fine arts, with a program set up specifically for students wanting to get into journalism and photography. Needless to say, we sometimes need to have equipment serviced. We have used Cameras And Parts over the past few years and we've been happy with them as a whole.

Let me cover a few things, the service they do at Cameras And Parts is impressive. They repair the cameras right, they do corrections to some of the models with known problems to prevent the problem from occurring later on the camera, they service the cameras at the time of repair and they do one heck of a cleaning on the camera too. Nothing to complain about here. We have always been impressed with the repair aspect of their service. Talking with them, they are very knowledgeable and polite, very good people to deal with.

Now for my gripe, why did I ding them a star? Well, and I've gone over this with them many times, we are a school and we need a purchase order which we pay in 30 days. They do not accommodate us on this. What does this mean to an instructor? It means I, as an instructor must pay them first and then submit the receipt to our accounting department. Then I wait about a month to be paid, sometimes longer. Also, I don't think it's wrong to give a discount to educators, this they don't do either.

Why do we still use them? They are in fact very good to deal with. They turn the cameras around very quick. The one time we had an issue, they bent over backwards to get us looked after, this is all appreciated. So why make it so difficult for an instructor by making the instructor have to pay first and then the instructor has to wait to be paid by the schools accounting department. If they issue a Purchase Order, they will eventually get paid, usually within 30 days, never more than 60 days. Hopefully one day this will change.

I still choose to use them because the cost is much less through them than others places for repairs and their work is as good as anyone could as for. Not helping teachers though as far as a small discount for volume of course and also not letting the school pay in 30 days in my opinion is wrong. These are students needing the equipment for an education.

I sometimes have strong views really taking an interest in young minds wanting to learn. I have been an educator for nearly 30 years. I am very respected in my field. Other business do these things for schools, it is something I would ask Cameras And Parts to consider.

We just had a Canon SX100 fixed through them for the common lens error problem. Though I will admit that ours did get dropped on a tile floor which was how we got the lens error problem to begin with. We used this place and since having it worked on, it's been working flawlessly. One of the nice things that both my husband and I immediately noticed was how well they cleaned the camera. We're quite pleased with everything!

I had my Canon G11 repair by CamerasAndParts. The problem was that the lens would not retract. They "fixed" the problem, and found other things to charge me for while it was in the shop. I went for it, thinking of the value of the camera, and the salesmen's convincing me of the problem, that in the future, that they would not guarantee the camera in total if I did not --- I used the camera a few times, and then, on a trip overseas, just after the 90 guarantee was up, the SAME problem occured again: The lens would not retract. I had to purchase a new camera in order to record the remainder of the trip. I contacted CameraAndParts, and they told me to return the camera, and for a reduced fee, they would repair it again. I did not do so as I already had purchased a NEW camera, and I did not have the confidence that the SECOND repair on for the SAME issue, would have better consequences in the future. The shop must have used inferior parts, or did not do the repair correctly, as the repair DID NOT LAST. I do not know what else to say, as my experience speak for itself!

If negative stars could be rated, I'd rate Cameras and Parts as low as allowed.

It has been almost a year. I've filed with the BBB and my Credit Card company. At least the credit card company credited my account the $150.00 charge. The report was that Cameras and Parts would not respond to their inquiry; so my refund was granted.

I've sent them numerous emails and have even contacted the El Paso police department regarding my experience with Cameras and Parts. The detective said that he gets lots of complaints about them and that sometimes he visits them because of so many complaints. He said that he'll do what he can do, even though it's really out of his authority.

So here I am, still camera-less. Cameras and Parts won't even return my camera unrepaired. I've pleaded with them several times, "Please just return my camera so that I can get it fixed elsewhere." Basically, they took my camera and apparently never had any intention of fixing it for return to me. I imagine my camera has been sold on eBay or Craigslist. It's gone forever.

Hey, check out Cameras and Parts on Facebook. You'll be glad you did before sending them your camera and money. Just do a Facebook search for Cameras and Parts.

I was ripped off. Hopefully, others will do more research than I did in order to avoid the same. I was deceived by the several glowing reports about how Cameras and Parts fixed and returned cameras. There are just too many bonafide reports of cameras being sent to them and gone forever. Way too many. You have to wonder about the people (or person) that wrote the glowing reports. They usually appear immediately after someone complains.

Tip for consumers:
Do your research. Avoid the same treatment that so many of us before you have experienced.

Cameras and Parts did a good repair and service but forgot to send back the lens cap I had on my camera. After I let them know they located it and sent it back fast and did apologize. That was my only gripe, aside from that they did an awesome repair. Also they cleaned the camera up extrememly well. The lens cap thing was the only thing that kept it from being a perfect experience. I would use them again without hesitation.
