“I got my MacBook back!”

kellie C.
3/23/23

Whew, well, I left my apple MacBook in my cabin on a Celebrity cruise. I thought it was gone forever. I didn't even contact them but thankfully, they actually contacted me. I filled out the missing item form, then got an email about 3 weeks later saying they had my item and I was directed to go to charger back to pay for shipping. I will say, I read the reviews here and most were negative, I went with a positive since shipping was only 14 bucks. I got my computer within 3 days. I can't believe it! THANK YOU CELEBRITY AND CHARGERBACK! THANK YOU…….

“Horrible experience”

I'm having a nightmare of an experience.I received an email with the message "We will follow up with a final tracking email as soon as your items ship" 10 days already. I have not received further information on my lost item, tracking number or status and no one provides information ont he status of the this shipment. I have paid 257 dollars for this shipment. In the meantime I'm stuck abroad, outside of the country waiting for my item since It is my purse with my IDs. I have talked to *******@chargerback. Many times already and they do not seem to help. They just say they will forward my claim to the partner. That has happened already 4 times. I still have not information. Chargerback sure has more information on the Items but they just don't release it or give you any contact information for the airlines so the customer is totally blindsided and abused. The way their business works does not treat customers with respect

Hi Soledad, we are very sorry to hear of your experience. We do kindly ask that you please understand Chargerback's role in this process.

We are a lost and found software supplier. While our software takes lost item reports, sends notifications, and accepts payment for the shipment of found items, our staff is not on-site, we do not ever physically handle the items, nor do we have a say in their status. Those duties belong to our great partners. There may be a variety of reasons for a delay in shipment but without further information, we are not able to venture a guess. If you would like, you may email our support team at support@chargerback.com or you may call our support hotline at 800-515-4860 and we will do our best to escalate the matter with our partner on your behalf. I hope this further information will have you to reconsider your negative review.

I currently have two airtags that ate trying to be located with the chargerback program. I have updated their software several times as to the exact location of the two items. Neither chargerback company or RCCL have tAken any effort to return my lost items even thoufh i know exactly where they are. I have even called but have hit dead ends. If you ate a company considering chargerback, dont think this reduces your workload, it does not.

We filed a report the same day that we lost our clothes, they were left in the cabin. That was November and nothing has happened. There was no reason those items were not turned it, it was used clothes. I will never travel with the Disney Cruise ships again, we even tipped the cabin people extra, these items were simply stolen and no one has been made accountable.
This service is worthless no one cares about, not even worth wasting your time filling a tenthly report nothing ever happens.

I left behind my electronic book reader on a Royal Caribbean cruise. The cruise line referred me to Chargerback where I followed the instruction to file my report. I had all the pertinent information, such as ship, dates, cabin number and the exact location where I had left my book. I did several follow up with Chargerback, the last one being 6 weeks after I filed the report. Each time, I got a response that "they are still looking" and that they would keep me informed. In my last communication with Chargerback I received an email response that Chargerback actually will not be looking for my lost item and that I should contact Royal Caribbean instead. So 6 weeks wasted! No surprise, Royal Caribbean tells me that Chargerback is who I should talk to. I really do not understand what Chargerback is all about. All I know is that they do not communicate and bottom line is that they are a total waste of time.

Left an iPad on the plane, notified Air Canada right away but they said I couldn't go back and look even though passengers were still leaving the plane. Filed the lost item and it was found. Sent to Charger Back website and told I had to pay $56 to ship it from Pearson to downtown Toronto via Fedex. Insane price so I compared with Purolator, UPS and Loomis and all were at least half. This company is a scam and Air Canada is worse for using them - of course Im sure AC is getting a kick back somewhere.

I sat near back of the plane. Cleaning crew was almost upon us when I disembarked.

While waiting for my ride, I ran to Lost Counter in Newark airport. They telephoned the gate where they were newly boarding. My personal item was apparently turned in but I had to go through the retrieval process.
I gave every detail including a photo, flight, seat #, etc.
United partnered with Chargerback Co. That charged me a fee and then didn't return my beautiful maman's favorite hat.
So sad.
Another a. K. a. For Chargerback could be *Add Insult to Your Injury.

Left a suit coat and rx eyglasses on in either the rental car, the boarding gate or the flight out of Ohare. I tried to find direct contacts but couldn't get past auto phone screens or to anyone local so had to file L&F reports through Chargerback. Not a smidgeon of belief it would ever work. Got weekly notice that items were not found, but 40 days later low and behold, tie item were found in an unrelated city, Houston. Guess I left items on the plane. Paid the return fee, had a fed ex tracking number the same day and my items back in two days. No guarantees obviously but 40 days and still found. Was worth it to me.

Advised item would be returned by overnight courier. 4 days later have heard nothing. No response from customer service. Took money for the courier immediately. Very unsatisfactory.

Tip for consumers:
Do not assume overnight shipping is anything other than overnight after it has taken the company many days to provide to the courier.

Verified purchase

I was on an Air Canada flight from LAX-YVR and accidentally left my bag with all of my very important personal information in my seat - my driver's license, all of my credit cards, membership cards, cash, jewelry, etc. in my seat. I filed a claim with Chargerback and a week later, I received an email saying my item was found. I requested hold for pickup at YVR as I would be coming back through on my return trip nearly a month later. The reply I received was that my item could only be picked up at the DOMESTIC Baggage Arrivals Counter, however as I was just passing through on a short layover heading home to California, I asked for it to be moved to a different location where I could retrieve it.

Dee@ Chargerback forwarded the email to Air Canada with a note, "Please see below from your passenger" and an Air Canada employee at the Lost and Found Office replied and said they could not help me, "Unfortunately we will not be able to assist you in the manner you wish. We do not have the manpower to do this but more importantly USCBP has made it very clear that lost articles belonging to a passenger cannot be brought into a USCBP controlled area by someone else." I responded to both Chargerback and Air Canada on Nov 18 explaining my unique situation and basically pleading for assistance, and it was left unanswered, and I still have yet to hear back as of today (Nov 30).

In the end, I had no choice but to spend $134.89 CAD to have my purse shipped due to the threat of any unclaimed property being discarded after 30 days. I find this cost to be astronomically high and the fact that Chargerback never bothered to extend their assistance or even attempt to offer an alternative solution leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. I am requesting a refund of $134.89 CAD for the shipment of my bag.

My daughter left her case of movie dvds on an American Airlines flight. Called right away but plane left back to Charlotte and I had to complete the chargerback form. Heard nothing. Contacted chargerback who said they would contact American airlines. Still nothing. Contacted chargerback again and now no response. Been at it since October. If it was an iPad I feel like it would have been found.

I give them a zero also. After several phone calls to the hotel and pretty much got told my item was there but had to use Chargerback. Oh my, what a terrible experience and never did get my item.

It never even listed my hotel on their website. However, it said something about Cedar Points affiliates, so that's the one I chose. My item, was my grandsons baseball cap from South Carolina, didn't cost a lot. Principle is that service sucks!

So, after the nasty gate agent made me carry on my lithium carry on items and check my bag, I left my laptop under the seat and realized after passing security. Baggage agent called the gate, they didn't find it. No identifiable name or anything on it or in the case. I submitted a Cargerback lost and found report thinking I'd never see it again. I provided the serial number and description in the report. Just got it back today unharmed. Went on a journey from Pittsburg, NC then on to Texas. Thanks to whomever turned it in and those who sent it back. Estatic!

4 days after filing the report i get an email from them telling me they are still looking. This is disturbing. Either its there or it not. I provided the flight number, time and date, arriving airport and the seat number too. This is not brain surgery. Useless. Shame on you Air Canada for offloading this to a useless service.

Awesome service!
We stayed at the Aulani in Hawaii for the beginning of the trip and I bought some souvenirs. After we checked out of the Hilton Hawaiian and flew back to California I realized I forgot the bag of gifts in at the Hilton. I tried to call the hotel lost and found but no one would pick up so I went thru their website and found the link to the form you fill out from charger back.

I was hesitant that the company was real so like most other things in life I started to google them and read negative reviews.

So reluctantly I gave them my credit card number and thought hey if I get ripped off for $25 bucks it's worth it for the chance to get my souvenirs back.

BEST DECISION EVER!

As I am typing this I am wearing my Aulani hat amd my wife was thrilled about the picture frame I picked out and on top of that I forgot I bought a fridge magnet … score! I didn't even list that as an item on their form but they sent it back to me along with the gift bad and receipt.

AWESOME SERVICE AWESOME COMPANY!

For as much as I travel I can't believe I didn't come up with this idea myself as one time we had to drive back to San Diego because I forgot my watch at the Del Coronado epic fail

Tip for consumers:
Just use it especially if you’ve already gotten on the plane

I wouldn’t use it for cheap things but for anything significant or sentimental it’s an absolute life saver

I left two Ipad's in the seat back of United Airlines in Washington. One was an iPad Air, The other a Mini. I activated lost mode and issued a lost report. A week or so later I received a found notice but it looked as though it was only for the Air. When I checked the online status only the Air showed a location. I paid $15.00 for shipping, money well spent, and receive my FedEx package a few days later. Pleasantly surprised to find both Ipad's, well packed and undamaged, in the package.

I'm not sure what companies are paying for when they get this software. All it does is send people automated messages which include platitudes like "we have hope that your item will be found" and "we are looking for it". Basically it lets you feel ignored and insulted at the same time. We lost an item on an Air Canada flight and filed it missing with Chargerback immediately (the same day with seat and flight numbers etc). We learned later that the item was found and immediately put in lost and found by an AC staff member. So, it wasn't a complicated scenario and the item was not stolen by anyone. If there was a human on the other end at Chargerback we might have learned it was in the lost and found at our arrival airport and simply picked it up on our return - simple and cheaper for everyone. Instead we had one month of canned email messages saying Chargerback couldn't find anything until we directly complained and the item was located by real people AC Lost and Found. Worse than useless system from our experience.

My daughter lost her IPad on a flight from Toronto to London. I really had given up hope that I would ever have it again. To my total surprise, three weeks after it was lost, we got an email from chargerback saying that the ipad had been found and that we could have it shipped to us. We paid the very reasonable fee and in less than 24 hours, the iPad arrived! Thanks Air Canada and Chargerback! My daughter is so happy!

Forgot some expensive items after checking out of my vacation rental. Called them less than 12 hrs after checking out & told them the exact drawers the iterms were left in. After a month, nothing but empty texts & emails. It's either there or its not & if not, then shame on the rental company for pocketing it. Fortunately, my incident didn't cost anything but hassle nonetheless.

What a joke this company is. They keep sending out canned messages. I told them exactly what room I was in, and where exactly the item was left. Even before the room had a chance to be cleaned. Either they are morans, or the hotel staff maids are thiefs. Won't be staying at the Marriott's ever again as long as they use this service. Should have known this site has a 2.2 rating. And been turned in to the BBB...

With their tracking system, they were able to quickly locate my item in the return log and worked with United Airlines to notify them so that the airline could ship it back to me as quickly as possible.

Reading the bad reviews on here, I really don't think people understand what Chargerback is. FYI, if they didn't locate your item in the database, it isn't their fault, it has to do with the airline. Chargerback is a great idea because it monitors everything that was turned into yoir airline and matches it up with your item so the AIRLINE can return it. Very thankful for this service snd the airline getting my phone returned! Five stars!

Really thought I had no chance of recovering my brand new tailored jacket when i left it overhead with no ID tag flying from PHL to PHX. Was even more disappointed when I saw it would be handled by a third party company and I had to send out this skimpy form and hope for the best. Reluctantly did it as I had no choice and lo and behold the next morning had a notification that they found it with options to get it right back. Thanks Chargerback!
