“Life Changing”

Erin H.
3/14/22

I already commented on another commenter's post, but I'll reiterate here so I can be sure to give a 5 star rating to the wonderful Civil Communicator team. CC is so thoughtful about the way co-parents communicate and they don't allow excessive and inappropriate communication. No criticizing, harassing, disparaging, or berating is allowed. Before CC, my husband had 500 pages of unmonitored text communications per year on Talking Parents, which made it difficult for him to do his day job or spend time with me and his kids. Talking Parents will send any unnecessary, excessive, irrelevant, and inappropriate message a party wants to send and it causes rash communication, without requiring any thought about the messages they angrily fire off. My husband's ex left a 1 star review and was clearly upset because she was suspended for 24 hours only a couple weeks into the transition from Talking Parents because she sent 21 notifications in a single day, 60 notifications in 11 days, and 4 communications directly to CC! Therefore, I encourage you to consider the reviewer before you judge CC for any 1 star reviews. We cannot thank CC enough.

“A narcissistic co-parent's dream app”

Jennifer P.
5/18/23

In psychology, there is a term called "flying monkeys" to describe the enablers of narcissistic abuse. That's what this (non) communication app is in a nutshell. Absurd revisions of communication, word choice is limited to a toddler's vocabulary and outrageously overpriced. It essentially locks down the ability to communicate in an effort to protect the co-parent in hiding from the reality of their abusive behavior. Avoid and avoid any professional who recommends it.

Allows my ex ro send any message to include confrontational and clarification messages. Consistently blocks my clarification questions and points back to the message. Instructions are confusing and not used when reviewing messages. Unless ordered by the court, do not use this website because they side with the most left thinking of individuals.

This website is complete S**T. Geared towards the mother. Can't say anything. They encourage you to say please and thank all while denying your messages for saying please and thank you. They act like they are god when it comes to messages. This isn't the divinci code. There is no need to read into messages. No support what so ever. I've sent over 15 support questions/comments in 2 years with no response. No phone number. A complete scam!

First off, I would give 0 stars if possible. This company only allows 30 credits per month and 5 credits per day. This is very restrictive to begin with, but they will keep rejecting your messages to burn up your daily limit. It's a scam to keep you paying for additional credits. You can draft your messages within their guidelines, and they will still reject with no reasoning. You don't have to cuss, be degrading, condescending, etc. to get your message rejected. They also try to be God almighty on what information THEY think should be passed along to your ex. This POS company/reviewers will even correct your grammar and reject messages based on that. You better have a degree in English to deal with them. They don't provide any help even though they say they do, their customer service is horrible and you can't ever get ahold of anyone, they are way overpriced, and all around just the worst parenting program out there! Try Our family wizard, Talking Parents, etc. Any other company but this one. Remember, their goal is to make money, so they reject 80% of your messages, causing you to spend more to purchase additional credits. Lastly, check out all their poor reviews on Yelp, Google, and Sitejabber. These reviews are your warning!

Everything the other reviews are saying is true. That includes the positive ones. I don't believe the positive reviews are paid as other reviews have claimed. I'm sure they're just the one side that Civil Communicator chose to back that is completely happy with their experience. I don't know if this is always the woman - though that seems to be the case from all of the reviews.

The app asks you to write an armistice while not allowing any mention of the war. It is impossible to have any actual communication, which seems to be what the "happy" side is looking for when choosing this app. My ex confessed to Child Protective Services to attempting to murder our daughter, which CPS says is fine since she's on anti-depressants now. I cannot mention her diagnosis or the attempted murder through this app. They claim its inappropriate, which is against their guidelines.

The app doesn't allow documentation while also demanding documentation to bring up absolutely anything discussed outside the app (including your entire history before using it). So any in person or voice conversations never happened as far as they're concerned.

What you do have in writing can theoretically be attached in a message so that you can bring up something previously discussed. When you try to do so you see that you can only pull up documents loaded into their shared library. When you try to load one of these conversations into their shared library it is refused because "the other party is already aware of this conversation".

There is "coaching" available at the cost of your credits (yes, even for their fee which is higher than other apps, you still don't have unlimited communication with what is essentially your free email with features cut). However all of my coaching tickets are closed without response, including questioning how to get around their catch 22 to reference outside conversations.

Their bias is present throughout as mentioned by other reviews. If my ex says "no" to something, that's the end of the conversation. Any further messages will be rejected with "asked and answered". When I say no, my ex can keep asking as much as she pleases with no interference.

Their own analytics prove their bias. You can see how many messages both sides sent and the app will show how many were accepted, revised*, or rejected. One side will show 100% accepted and the other a split.

*As mentioned in other reviews, my revised messages were often revised to completely change their meanings. Their reviewers would change a "yes" to a "no" - In more words, they probably didn't even realize they were doing it, but that's the trouble with trying to jump into a conversation with zero facts and background. Even though the goal should be to help communication and ease tension, Civil Communicator often creates fights due to their ignorance and terrible review policies.

It quickly got to the point where I ended my subscription and let my Ex know I would no longer be using the app, that zero communication would actually be preferable (and this was her goal, so she should have been happy). Civil Communicator would not let me send this message though I tried multiple times. They labeled it "Inappropriate" and "Unnecessary" (the same tags I got when bringing up my daughter's safety with a woman that confessed to trying to murder her). So when my current subscription runs out we'll be at zero communication, and one side isn't aware. Civil Communicator won't let her be aware.

We used their services for a year and found on many occasions that inappropriate actions were taken by their reviewers. I requested an action plan of remediation, and notice of ramifications for those involved with the unethical, unprofessional, and inappropriate behavior allowed. Later I found that there were only two reviews and one is a felon. Don't waste your time or money on this site.

I would select 0 stars if I could, but I wasn't able to. This is one of the worst parenting programs out there! They are grammar nazi's and will reject messages on that basis. They reject many messages, so it will force you to burn through your daily credits. They know nothing about your life or situation, but yet they act like they do by dictating what information is passed along and what isn't. If you give any push back on your rejected messages, they will just suspended your account. There is no customer service and their coaching is bull$#*!. If you read the examples on their website of their rejected messages, it makes sense. But when you start doing business with them, they will reject a majority of your messages just so you will burn through your 5 daily credits just trying to relay 1 message. They are a SCAM and not worth even wasting your time with. Try Talking Parents or any other of the court approved programs that are out there. I've used a few other programsthat are out there, and this is by far the ABSOLUTE WORST one! I'm surprised they are even able to stay in business. Dont say I didn't warn you to STAY AWAY!

Totally ridiculous and very expensive for what you get. Conversations are limited to 5 daily credits and their main goal is to get more money out of you. They do this by constantly rejecting you messages and making you resubmit it, only to get rejected again. They are totally against the guy and make him communicate on a first grade level, while at the same time they are allowing the woman to be aggressive, condescending, and controlling. They have no clue about your life or situation, but yet they are a gatekeeper on what info can be passed along. They will also suspend your account at anytime if they don't like your message. You basically have POS people on the other end who have nothing else to do but feel like they are in control. Reminds me of how police act. They are better than you and you are scum. If you like that treatment then this company is for you. If you like to be treated with respect and save money, I would recommend using any of the other court approved program. Please check out all the other reviews on Yelp, Google, Sitejabber, and anywhere else. All are negative reviews! Don't get scammed, waste your time or money with this HORRIBLE POS company! Check out their 60% rating. That's a D- on reviews from customers.

No customer service, no way to address anything, if they reject or revise your message- you cannot do anything about it. They control what you say and how you say it entirely. You will spent more time on figuring out how to follow the outrageous amount of rules to write one sentence and then, if you get rejected 3 times, - you are blocked from sending any messages. So, you pay $400 to get bullied and criticized and make your already tough situation even worse.
It should be named Hostile Communicator app.
My ex and I went back to texting and regular email and actually able to communicate better than through this jail app.

This program is amazing, especially if you're a woman. Want to ignore the guidelines and break all the rules? Want to pay a hefty monthly fee to say whatever you want, with the knowledge that your counter-part won't be able to get a word in edge-wise? Want to engage in uncivil discourse under the guise of civilly communicating? Want to ask the same question over and over without being told its "Asked and answered?" Then this program is for you... as long as you have a vagina. I don't know what's actually going on over at CC, but I picture a bunch of man-eaters, smoking cigars and laughing. The employees of CC (bots or humans... yet to be determined) consistently side with the woman (and I'm a woman... so you know its incredibly unfair if I'm taking issue with it!) and leave very little room for constructive and healthy conversations. They will neuter exchanges to the point that the original meaning is lost and there's nothing you can do about it. What you can and can't say seems to vary from day to day - and the coaching is a joke. My favorite part is that it is pay to play. If your counter-part says something they reject, you can pay to see it! Which means that the more communications CC rejects, the more money they make! And now with their recent software changes, you have to pick from their pre-populated conversations topics and can only send communications during their business hours (8am-8pm.) I would steer clear of this "service" as it actually does a great disservice to all involved, male and female alike.

These people have a niche as a "monitored equivocal coparenting communication service." They charge astronomical rates to give you a handful of communications. Expect everything you send to be sliced and diced so that you have to use all of your credits to talk about a handful of things. They were founded by a woman who got the requisite capital by forging her husband's signature on checks and then divorcing him once he found out. See Commonwealth of PA vs Leslie Breisch 719 A. 2d 352 (1998). They are skewed towards the mother in most regards, and return almost everything I send because it "had multiple topics best split among several message threads" or was "directing" when I tried to change the language so it wasn't "passive aggressive." You can't use the passive voice at all, everything must be said in a stentorian direct way but if you are too direct they will delete your message for some bull$#*! reason. Any suggestions that communication take place outside of CC is edited out because they want your money. Use Family Wizard instead. An army of a million mosquitoes doesn't suck as hard as Civil Communicator. They profit off of your pain.

Tip for consumers:
They charge you twice the annual rate if you get it monthly. Only use them if court ordered, and even in that case try try TRY to use Family Wizard instead. Or a very patient grandparent.

This is probably one of the worst products I've ever used. The ability to send messages from your phone randomly stopped. No way to escalate issues. Messages changed to contain a total different message. Random messages blocked. Do not use this product, there are several out there that are 100% better.

All the negative reviews are correct to the T, the idea is good however it's completely biased towards the mother. They don't even follow their own guidelines when it comes to her communications. Child support topics aren't allowed yet the let the mother to complain about it alone with hearsay, accusatory and assumptions not being allowed. They revised and forward without letting you to see or approve before forwarding. They push to use all your credits in order for you spend more money. No phone number nor an address for a huge "business" like that reeks bull$#*! IMO.if there is any law suit against this service contact me and count me in.

There is no way you could improve in your communication through this app. It's literally a jail monitor for your words. It's their interpretation of you without any clue what you really trying to say. You get rejected and suspended - welcome to divorce round 2 and you get to pay $395 for writing 7 messages a month and pay more if you want write more.

Title sounds weird?... I know. Hear this though. I initiated the use of the Civil Communicator platform, and my initial experience was outstanding. I requested its approval and got it included in our orders as a required method of communication. This was particularly crucial as I was ending an abusive relationship, and my co-parent, a narcissistic attorney, thrives on manipulation and combat.

Despite my successful use of the platform, I reached a point where I asked the courts to remove the requirement of using it, and their response quickly took an unfavorable turn. They provided my co-parent with an unsupported affidavit alleging I was aggressive and conflicting, despite my review report showing zero threatening messages.

While Civil Communicator does serve its intended purpose, it's marred by employees who seem to thrive on drama and are willing to engage in it. They've even gone so far as to call from their personal phones to gossip about my co-parent and their communications.

The concept behind the platform is commendable, but its execution leaves much to be desired. The mentioned affidavit should raise significant concerns, although I'm not inclined to escalate the issue. My hope is that this review can help someone else avoid the challenges I've faced with this platform. Additionally, the predatory billing practices of this company are another concern, making it advisable to seek alternatives if possible.

Tip for consumers:
Don't think you'll try it and then change it. Once you're with them, they will make sure tou never leave.

These people are literal criminals. The owner is a convicted felon who stole from her "Husband" and husband's family. In retaliation to me speaking out she Impersonated me in my account in order to defame me and is guilty of felony impersonation and attempt to influence a government official. When these things are done by an organization it triggers Colorado's organized crime statute. I've spoken to a detective with the Denver Police Department who has been in contacted the District Attorney's Office. I've also written the Attorney General of Colorado and spoken to Colorado Bureau of Investigation's Cyber Crime Unit. I will sue. I won't stop until justice is served. I'll take a polygraph test and my offer for the owner to do the same stands. The owner is Highly concerned with negative reviews which leads me to believe that many of the positive reviews are disingenuous. If what I'm saying is untrue it would be a crime to say it. If you'd like to report me I have the number of a great detective.

I posted a review stating my experience with civil communicator. Wasn't long and I was contacted by their attorney threatening action if I didn't take it down. When I didn't they revoked my account where I can login but it doesn't let me view any of my messages or anything for that matter except it shows I'm "active" and that I've paid but I can't view anything else. My child's mom has sent school schedule etc and I've asked repeatedly for them to unlock my account and even changed my review to just simply say to avoid this company. Still no luck and instead their attorney sent another email saying that they can choose who they do business with and that I have to take my review down if I want to use their service. This company is truly trash. Check for good reviews on them and you will come up empty handed. My experience with them has been terrible from the start. They blame my child's mom putting restrictions on the my account for example I am not allowed to mention my daughters other sister, I am not allowed to request any time changes yet she is allowed to offer time changes. As stated before please avoid this company if you are trying to co-parent and make your co parenting relationship amicable. Hope that this review saves others the huge headache that civil communicator causes.

I was ordered by a judge in family court to use Civil Communicator for all important correspondence between myself and my ex-wife in February, 2019. When I received notice that they had unsuccessfully tried to bill my credit card just a few days ago, I was relieved. During my two-year experience with them, I realized that they far exceed their mandate to monitor and insure civil discourse. They edited both our emails aggressively for content, revising or deleting portions that they felt were uncivil, using their own arbitrary criteria.

Normal, even-tempered communications with my ex-wife were edited to remove all trace of negative emotion, of language that is "directing," "accusing," "hearsay," "assuming," "passive aggressive," "confrontational," "asked and answered," and my personal favorite, "unnecessary!" It got worse over time. At the end of two years, they were editing common phrases people use in polite, but pointed, conversation. I asked them to stick to their mandate, and simply revise or admit portions that were objectionable, rather than applying arbitrary standards to otherwise common and civil conversations.

I started objecting to their removal or revision of large portions of my emails on such flimsy grounds as that my text was "confrontational," "accusing," "asked and answered" or unnecessarily. How do they know which information is already known tonthe othrer party? They should have humitity to acknowledge they don't know everything the other person knows, ang give the author the benefit of the doubt regarding what is important.

My bill from CC did not get paid this year, and based on experience, It probably won't be. They have become an impediment to, rather than a facilitator of, meaningful communication,

There are better communication services. Look around!

The absolute worst site to use. There is ZERO effort to improve relationships and 100% effort to reward the person who pays the most to Control 100% the other party. This site only cares about money. And was started and I believe is owned by a felon.
This site helped a violently abusive ex gold digging wife who admitted in writing she wanted her ex to die but to give her money so she can live a good life. This site helped this woman completely destroy and alienate her ex husband from the two children; actively helping to block two children 100% from their kind medically disabled father. This site blocks his efforts to get information about the children and allows for her to demand endless amounts of money while never answering but responding with rude flippant evasive condescending answers so I know nothing about the kids.

This site should be shut down and the owners should be financially punished and sued for the damages done to Im sure hundreds of innocent children and spouses

If you are reading this review please accept my condolences because if you didn't already know it - you are already in the first circle of hell, and you are now on the precipice of entering the third.

Allow me to explain: Given that you have found yourself searching for reviews of this site, you have found yourself squarely in the first circle of hell - Divorce. You likely have children which will force you to communicate with an insufferable, narcissistic ex until those children turn 18. I am sorry! I don't want to pull any punches, but I have to inform you that you may actually be in the second circle of hell - the US family court system. If you are here and you have not watched Divorce Corp (free on YouTube) you definitely should to inform your experience while here. Buckle up it is an ugly ride!

It is my sincere hope that this review will save you from entering the third circle of hell - The Civil Communicator Inferno. Unfortunately, I was unable to save myself from this realm - it's not too late for you. I entered into Civil Communicator hell on December 20th of 2021 when I agreed ( based on opposing counsel's recommendation) to utilize this site to communicate with my ex. The site purports to be a communication platform whose goal is to help parents improve their communication skills - I have not found that to be an accurate reflection of their 'service'. They publish their "communication guidelines" which will seem reasonable until you actually attempt to communicate with your co-parent. You will find that the people on the review team interpret and enforce their "guidelines" with a wild and random abandon that will vary to an unimaginable extent. As a result of this, you will be forced to ask for coaching on every communication, just to get your correspondence through their system without receiving a communication demerit. Of course, and by design, this is going to end up costing you more money.

Their review system is truly nightmarish, but it gets worse. On two different occasions, I intended to send communication to my co-parent about what I perceived to be very unethical behavior on the part of his attorney. This unethical behavior was preventing us from reaching a settlement on our outstanding issues. However, instead of sending the correspondence to my co-parent as I intended, they sent the correspondence to his lawyer and NOT my ex. They did not inform me that they had done this, and they definitely did not copy my lawyer on the matter to even attempt to display a modicum of impartiality. Unscrupulously conspiring with opposing council (not coincidently the lawyer that pushed for the use of the service) served to further increase the hostility between all parties. It is not a coincidence that nearly 15 months later we are still litigating the same issue. If you watch the documentary - you will see this is a feature of the system and not a flaw. Civil communicator is a gold star example of the unethical greed that permeates our family court system and serves solely to escalate the conflict and frustration between parties that are already in a difficult situation in the service of financial gain.

So please save yourself from the ghastly hellscape that is Civil Communicator. Had I known then, what I know now, I absolutely would not agree to utilize this service unless it was the last means of communication available on earth and the health and safety of my children depended on its use.
