I spent more than 7 hours building a puzzle for my primary school pupils to realise it was not free as they claimed. I couldn't print, I couldn't download. I regret all that time gone into the drains. Those bastards should be jailed.

I've been using this program for two years, but last school year more regularly, however weird things were happening and it did ended badly. It's not that the program was not doing what is was supposed to, but rather how the owners double charged for it and were not transparent regarding the name change that happened in the course of the year ( from mycrosswordhobbyist to mycrossowordmaker), specifially in March 22. Even though I bought Premium Membership that meant that I could use crossword puzzles, word searches and worksheets, it was necessary to LOG IN, to each of these separatly, although they all appear on the headline. When I cancelled my account in June on time before the next payment was due, I was not expecting to see what I did. I was charged for June! As it started to be fishy, I went to review my bank statements from the entire school year and I discovered that I was charged $10 on two different dates each month for the entire school year. When I addressed the issue, I was told that "I had two accounts" which I know I didn't have. Why would I? To eliminate this dispute, apparently agaist the company's policy, I was quickly reimbursed the extra $10 for each month I was charged twice but the representative or owner was not available ( didn't get back to me) to answer my questions regarding the change of the name of the company tha that happened in March "under the table" without even minor email to the customers. If you decide to use this program, be alert from the beginning!
As far as the puzzles go, its a pretty good site, My issue though is about how i found them. I signed up for one free puzzle like the advertisement said. But after that they charged me for the past 11 months. After getting in touch with them, they reached out and offered a refund... of 10$ saying their policy offers a refund for the 2 most recent pay periods, out of the 55$ i did not know i was being charged. I wish they would be a LOT more clear. But again, as far as the site goes, its good for making a crossword.
I strongly recommend not falling for this scam of a website. I cancelled my subscription last month and they have decided to bill in full this month regardless - it's not a free trial it's a scam.

Beware! This site overcharges by scamming customers into paying for a whole year! Crosswordhobbyist is a crossword puzzle generating site. It advertises a "free trial". When signing up for the "free trial" they require credit card information. I tried the site one time only and cancelled the same day. They advertise that the membership can be cancelled at any time, however when I cancelled the first time, I did not receive an emailed notification and had no idea my membership was still in force until I received a bill for $80.60 on my credit card a month later. Crosswordhobbyist posts on their website that the cost is $4.95 per month or $51.00 for a year. However, the billing page defaults to the year membership. I have no idea why I was charged $80.60. I never knowingly indicated that I wanted the service for a year. In their policy, they state that once a free trial is used they will not refund your money. I communicated with them at least 6 different times stating my situation and the fact that I had tried the site only ONCE. They refused to refund my money. Beware. They are out to scam you. I would highly recommend not using this website.
Hello Ruth Jane!
We are very sorry for your experience. Normally an account can be cancelled at any time before the billing period. After the billing period, customers may request a partial refund. In this particular instance, it seems a chargeback was filed with the account in question still open. If a chargeback is requested before a cancellation, then our customer service team is unable to fulfill a cancellation.
Again, we greatly apologize for the confusion. We will review how our payment options are presented to ensure customer clarity. It seems the yearly dual-site subscription for Crossword Hobbyist and My Word Search was selected in error, as opposed to the single-site monthly billing option. In the meantime, we do recommend that potential customers review their options carefully before beginning the free trial, then contacting us first with any questions or concerns.
