“Fantastic Way to Save Money!”

Bailey C.
10/21/20

Firstly, this is a legitimate business directly from the Walt Disney company. It's designed as a way for families and collectors to build their Disney (and growing list of other properties) titles while saving money. For my review, I'm going to go through some of the negative points that have been used in other reviews and discuss them a bit. When you sign up, you receive 4 or 5 movies for $1, and with that, you're entering into an agreement to purchase 5 movies at full price over a 2 year period (an extremely reasonable setup). If you read what you're told when you sign up, you will also know that they offer a monthly featured title, which includes a film (or a couple) with a collectible lithograph that you agree to purchase unless you manually decline it monthly. It's not a scam; that's how the business runs. You may be able to get some movies cheaper elsewhere, but the site shows you how much money you saved. The amount saved is always worth the price. It's remarkable the number of people who get so upset they'll jump on here and leave a one-star review for their own negligence. You agree to the terms and conditions upon signup and, if you keep those introductory movies, you're agreeing to fulfil that commitment. It's a very straightforward process with no hidden fine print whatsoever. You do not have to purchase all (or any) of the featured title movies. You need only buy 5 movies at the regular price. Now, I'll talk about my own experience. I've been a member off and on for quite some time now. I get my 4-5 movies, I buy my 5, and then I usually cancel the membership. You call the customer service (who are always friendly) and tell them you'd like to cancel. They look you up in the system to make sure you fulfilled your requirements, and you're out just like that. Sometimes they'll offer you additional perks to stay; other times they don't. But nobody has ever held me against my will to stay in the club. The movies I purchased always arrived without issue. I've never received the wrong title, although it's inevitable with the amount of orders they process in the run of a day. The only issue I've ever had with them was a major delay in shipping Guardians of the Galaxy quite a while back but, a quick chat with their wonderful Facebook customer service representative let me know that the demand for the product exceeded expectations and it was on back-order. When it comes to the Disney Movie Club, generally everything has a simple explanation behind it. A lot of the anger toward it is due to simple user error or negligence. This is a fantastic website that allows you to collect Disney movies cheaper than anywhere else. The extra perk is, should you choose to stay on after you reach your commitment, your offer of 50% off each additional title goes up to 60% with additional special member-only sales that you can't get anywhere else. I highly recommend this site, but I also recommend taking the time to read what you're giving your credit card to and signing up for before you join. Because once you're in, you have no right to complain about what you agreed to.

“4 Movies for $1 is a Total Scam by Disney”

Elekttra N.
8/28/23

Disney makes this deal sound to good to be true. Which it was. They don't tell you that the contract you sign will charge you the full amount for 5 more movies after you've made your one dollar purchase. If you want to cancel you half to pay the amount it would cost you to by the movies in full. This is a ridiculous system and a scam of your money. Don't sign up for this supposedly "one time" purchase.

I signed up years ago before Disney Plus was released. I thought I had cancelled my subscription years ago as I was dissatisfied with my service at that time. Signed up for Disney Plus and started getting billed for Disney Movie Club again! Their return policy is abysmal, there is no way to initiate or track returns online. They advise you to mail in returns (at your own cost) and you will be refunded or credited (minus shipping) within 6 weeks. I never received either a refund or a credit. Just got done speaking to a "cast member" who informed me that there is no credit showing on my account and that there is nothing they can do. I've lost so much money and time to this very terrible arm of Disney. DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR INTRO DEALS, NOT WORTH IT.

Tip for consumers:
Just don't fall into this scam. Save yourself!!

This company tries to bill my credit card over $200 a month and they try every other day, I'm fed up. I want my money returned. When I locked my credit card, they started double billing at the same time and one transaction is declined and one gets thru. I'm going to sue them and my credit card company for not keeping my money safe and fraudulently withdrawals that were not authorized. Save yourself the headache STEER CLEAR.

DMC has is cancelling all Canadian accounts. As a huge Disney fan this upsets me so much - especially since we recently had all our Disney stores close too. It's getting a lot more difficult and expensive to be a Disney fan here. :(

I have been charged time and again for "featured" titles that I have declined or have not ordered. I have returned the ones I have received ( return shipping is paid by the customer by the way) and have yet to be credited. I cannot afford to pay useless items or no items at all just because the "cast members" are not trained to do their jobs properly and this company has managed a way to scam good hard working folks out of their money. So sad that Disney has allowed this to become part of their business practices. I will stick to shopping in old fashioned stores and not online..

Please do not fall for the free movie dvds. Please read the fine print. They took $85 out of my credit card in one month! I have gotten new credit card numbers and they still are allowed to continue deducting at least twice a month. I only pay my credit card bill to pay them. You can't stop it until you meet their terms. Just buy me out and keep the dvds please.

Recently they had this collectable pendant that you get with orders. But they wouldn't let you pick the pendant and even though I made 4 different orders I still got the same pendant so far 3 times. Waiting on my fourth movie. But the point being is I got 3 of the same pendant and I don't even like Cinderella. The worst part is that I made the purchases on the same day so you'd think that the person in charge of packaging them would of thought to put different ones in each of the packages. Next time they have something like this I would suggest they let the buyers pick.

I'm 75 years old. This has been the worst retail experience of my life. Jusr cancelled today. Ordered titles I never got. Got titles I never ordered. Sign on issues were theirs. Too much to list. Billing issues. No one cares of course, because you can't reach anyone above the kind people in India you reach. In my opinion, it's a bait and switch operation not typical of Disney... a real stain on the name.

Tip for consumers:
Like a dope, I signed up again years after a bad experience the first time. It's worse.

I emailed and called to cancel membership. They said because I had not received my 3rd movie I had to wIt to cancel it. Even though they had already charged me. They also automatically charged me for the last movie. Customer service was also not good when I called.

This company false false advertising. They state that you get 5 movies for $1.99 but its a membership. They keep sending you movies that you don't want and claim that you have to deny it on the website. Then then never send you the movies you ordered. If you cancel the membership, they bill you for the entire value of the movie. To cancel my membership I have to pay $100. The worst part is they say you can cancel anytime by email. I been trying to cancel since February!

Don't fall for this company, They are scam artist!

Seriously... I don't have much of a problem with outsourcing other than taking jobs from Americans. But when the rep clearly doesn't understand enough english to be able to help me, that's when I hit the warpath. I thought this would be a great, & fun experience with Disney. I love the older classics. So far, I've been charged for the first 4 movies ($1.06) & then found a $#*! Van Dyke movie & ordered it. I have my debit card set up with alerts so when ever someone including I, run it, it sends me an alert & if it declined or was approved & why it was declined. I have received yet another email from these incompetent walnuts saying my card was declined again. Kind of funny how it was declined when it wasn't even ran! This is the worst experience ever with Disney & Walt is probably ashamed of how the kingdom has gone downhill! Not worth starting being as there are so many potatoes that will not be capable of doing their job properly, & will make you want to cancel within a week. I STILL do not have a tracking number for the first 4 movies & that was over a week ago!

Tip for consumers:
Find a different source for your Disney collection.

You can buy all the movies they sell for half on other online retailers or retail stores. You end up paying for those supposedly "free" movies in the long run. Canceling is a joke. Prepare for an extremely long wait time to speak to a "cast member". You also need to keep a credit card on file with them and they won't let you take it off. Complete scam, avoid please, you'll be sorry you joined!

So I made the mistake of falling for one of the "Get a $700 Shein gift card..." AFTER you sign up for these seemingly cheap deals that you can supposedly cancel right after. Anyway, if you're like me and don't have time to read through the pages of fine print under the false advertisement of being able to cancel easily, note that you will end up paying over $120 for a few old DVDs, as you are charged that amount to "break the contract" of paying $35 five times, which gets you 2 movies from a limited selection. Customer service is completely unhelpful and unfriendly. Save yourself the money and hassle and just use a steaming service.

This is my first time using this service and I already regret it. I ordered 3 weeks ago and still have not received my movies. When I contacted them, they said it takes 3-4 weeks. Um, excuse me? 3-4 weeks for something that shipped from Ontario, to another place in Canada? Nope, no. You're lying to me, there's no way Canada Post is THAT bad. Disney Rewards are faster than this and they ship from the States! I asked them for a tracking number and they avoided my question, just telling me when my package supposedly shipped. Oh, and worst of all, they make YOU pay for the shipping. Regretting this choice immensely, DO NOT SUBSCRIBE!

Tip for consumers:
Just read the fine print, and be prepared to wait a LONG time for your shipments, with no updates from customer service.

Randomly charge me $70-$80 even after I decline the movie monthly. Have been charged close to $200 and have only received 3 movies. I have movies "pending" they have charged me for but have never sent. Additionally those movies did not go to my agreement? Please do no join! I have contacted customer service plenty of times with no explanation but "sorry for your frustration." I can not believe Disney has this up.

I originally signed up, was a great deal. Once you sign up and decide not to pay $42 a month for a simple movie you can watch on Netflix and attempt to cancel your account they try to tell you that you have to pay $52 in order to "buy out your contract". I'm addition to that, the representative will continue to argue with you that you either have to a: send movies you've already bought back to their address. B: continue paying $42 for 5 months. Or c: buy out your contract for $52.

They kept taking money out of our account 3 times last month maybe about 50-60 dollars. Then again today. Like seriously that's all my husband had for gas. The agreement was to buy 1 movie a month for $20 not to charge our account 3 times a month.
