Happy thus far to outsource finding dates to a real person as opposed to robots at match.com. Easy to communicate with my matchmaker who understood my needs quite well. We literally had a 2 1/2 hr fun and insightful interview. Appreciate the time spent with me. Crossing my fingers. All else hasn't worked so I said why not - try a new approach. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. And bonus - it has freed up some of my time. Best, David.

“No matter how nice the staff is, this business mode just won't help you find a man”

Mahi-mahi S.
3/15/23

I have tried gayquation (sorry, not going to reveal who I am). I can attest the good part of the service: the staff working on my case is very nice and also he replies quickly. But after a few months exploration, I have to admit, this business mode just won't help you find a boyfriend. Save your money and energy. Maybe go to gym, or go to bars. If you want a "your type", you need to go out and meet people by yourself. There are reasons for this: 1. People on this service are generally more picky than people you could meet in real life. Think about this, they pay hundreds of dollars to match makers. What's the point for not getting their "type" but getting a regular man that could be found on app? 2. They do not have a big enough database. Who would really pay for a matchmaking service? The super picky ones or the super desperate ones. People who are attractive do not have problems findings someone they want, for relationship or for hookups. This is just a cruel human nature. They do not need services like this. Especially when the matchmakers' work is to exhaust all the profiles on the apps just to find guys for you. Most Gay guys are highly expressive and they do not have an exclusive network for gay men. Only if you want to find the "dl in closest ones". Why don't you go to apps again then? Also, think about this business mode. If everyone can easily find his "type", this service will no longer survive. I'm sorry to point this out to all Potential buyers. This service does not work. You will be disappointed by all the guys they provide you and think they are all "too average" or even "below average". If you do not think this way, you shouldn't be the one needing a matchmaking service. Do not expect this service to have magic power. You have to meet guys by yourself. Go to gym, go to bar, go to gay sport event, go to anything that helps with boosting your confidence and helping you socialize with other gay men. This is 2023, life is short. Don't waste your time and money on nonsense. To the business owner of gayquation. I am sorry I said a lot of bad comments on your service. It's not that you guys didn't try. It is just that matchmaking does not work for most people anymore, especially for gay people. I have the screenshots of your staffs telling me "gays are just super picky", "your area has little number of gays", "you are attractive but you also have high standards", etc. there are even close to racism comments (well, the gay community is with a lot of racism I understand). But did you realize that's the reason why I signed up to begin with? It is because gay guys are picky. It is because I don't live at the center of a metropolitan city (but I'm also not too far from it, let's be honest, 20 mins drive is nothing). It is because I have some standards (but shouldn't I?) it is because all these that I signed up. Apparently, this service is not the solution. P.s. I am not an angry desperate man who cannot get a man. I get men, but through socializing at gym, bar, and events. It was difficult to begin with, but it worked out well. Guys, again, just go out and meet people and be hopeful with yourself.

My experience: I was very nervous before coming in. As it was the first time and I did not know what to expect. However, when I got in and spoke with Nick I felt more relaxed, also seeing all of the other newly out people there as well was reassuring. Friendly, felt very protected and safe with my information. Nick is very frank and realistic in his approach. It was not so daunting as I thought it would be. Also, the masterclass helped me to identify what the important "deal breakers" are for me. The advice given gave me the confidence to ask what was important to me and how to ask these questions. When I got to my first meet itself, I was much more relaxed and confident – something I have never felt in that type of situation.

Dating app fatigue brought me to a personal matchmaking service and gayquation. I found them on a random search and happy I did. They do all the work for me from screening to vetting so it does help skip several steps for me and save a ton of time. It's not an excuse as my coach has, rightfully so, suggested I keep my eyes open as well. But it's nice having someone speed up the process and wittle away the BS out there.

Tip for consumers:
I would sign up for the coaching and matchmaking separately so as you may stop either at anytime. Both are month to month but they are locked together if bundled.

I wanted to give a little shout out to my little team at gayquation. Not just for all the help they've provided me over the past 7 months, but for the patience they've shown me with all my peccadilloes. Here's hoping I'm not with you 7 months from now (for good reasons) but happy to be if we don't find my guy. Xoxo ~Zach

There are reasons for this:

Most Gay guys are highly expressive and they do not have an exclusive network for gay men. Only if you want to find the "dl in closest ones". Why don't you go to apps again then?

Also, think about this business mode. If everyone can easily find his "type", this service will no longer survive.

Tip for consumers:
Who may be good customer for this service?
1. You are not picky at all (open your dating app and you are “open minded” enough to be able to sleep first 10 dudes showing up in your app)
2. You are so busy that you don’t have time to scroll through dating apps or personally go out for a gay meetup event.

If not the case, don’t even bother with this service. It won’t work for you. It is not a scam, but it just won’t work.

We appreciate the honest feedback and concerns as we try to improve our services year over year.

Please note our current network exceeds over 10k+ across the globe (including clients and vetted non-clients), with those predominantly in the United States. We are proud that this represents the largest pool of gay, male, LTR-seekers in the industry. We are also one of the only agencies that do not subscribe to blind dating, ask more questions, provide more transparency with market reports and strictly follow every one of our client’s deal breakers – whether physical, personal or lifestyle. For this reason, our rejection levels are higher than the average matchmaker. Our client’s must also approve of EVERY potential match before it becomes official. I say this to say that even with a large network, we never force an intro in order to fill a quota. Quality introductions with like-minded men, mutual interest and dually met criteria is of utmost important to us.

For example, we do not continue qualifying someone if our client desires children and a potential match does not or sexual role, for instance, where as we know, two bottoms don’t make a right. :) We follow laws of attraction qualities first, like distance, career, culture, religion, lifestyle, etc, then move to the next phase, including a possible personal connection. Many traditional matchmakers bypass this phase and project one onto another due to a limited network with no headhunting outside their network. Unfortunately, many potentials die on the vine at different points of the process but we always adhere to our client’s criteria. Our matchmakers give honest assessments based on sample size, our client’s and market feedback and, if need be, get more aggressive on their “hunt” – but again, never without pushing an intro. Much depends on one’s criteria, location and/or demographics. Their approach is customized based on these factors and relay this info, not only during the interview, but along the way as real time data comes in. A market report, called Optima (https://www.gayquation.com/optima.html), is provided several weeks into the process to give more insight and a transparent view to our clients, including further suggestions and plan going forward. All to optimize our client’s chances – controlling every variable we can on our end, including effort.

Typically, an over 2 hour interview is conducted with one of our Senior matchmakers, and while he may give suggestions in order to optimize his chances, we do not go beyond our client’s criteria without prior consent. Your assigned lead matchmaker, Nick Papadopoulos, typically conducts interviews that have ran as long as 4 hours, gives unfiltered assessments and answers queries within 24 hours, even on weekends. Along with a Senior matchmaker, a Junior matchmaker is part of every client’s team. They not only tap into our extensive network but begin headhunting from day number one as, yes, there may not be a match within the network. Our network has grown year over year in 15 years, however we do not take it for granted. Rather than assume matches will automatically come from there, our matchmakers spend much of their time, on our client’s behalf, headhunting - literally turning over stones from scratch – screening, reaching out, communicating and qualifying potential matches outside Gayquation. This is also how we have grown our vetted non-client pool, our largest network. We also conduct background checks of every green lit match. Matches are replaced if deal breakers are not met; misrepresentations; previous acquaintances; or non-communication starters.

Lastly, if any introductions remain on our client’s balance, they roll over to the next month. They are guaranteed or otherwise 75% of the LTR-seeking market within a 25 mile radius of our client’s location has been saturated. Even when a client stops his membership, he remains active until they have been fulfilled. Please see more here: https://www.gayquation.com/guarantee.html

Again, all potential matches that are interested in connecting MUST be approved by our client before becoming official as yours were. Rejected matches do not count towards one's balance of intros. Our client's feedback is used to narrow or broaden their matchmaking team's blinders going forward.

Please note that we strive to make our services as tangible as we can, but of course within reason. We value our client’s feedback – so much so - that we continually make changes even from just one person’s suggestion, including yours.

Please do reach out directly as I am happy to provide complimentary introductions as I do hope we are given a second opportunity.

I am happy to have found these guys. 2020 was a forgettable in so many ways. Vaxxed, it's summer and able to travel. I am sure, like most, we are all busy socializing to catch up for lost time. At my age, a ripe 62, a little assistance goes a long way and it has. Along the way, made a new friend with whom I'll visit the Cape with this summer. In the meantime, crossing fingers on a friend AND lover. I appreciate the support and understanding.

I was assigned to Nick P. As my lead matchmaker. My second matchmaker, Greg T., was not on our first call/consultation and interview but apparently he assists my lead in screening for matches on my behalf. I have to say I have never had a consultation run as long as it did. I was referred to by a close friend and he did tell me that Nick will spend hours if need be with a potential client. There is no hard sale. He literally seems to enjoy what he does and speaks with such passion, and yes, with a business plan approach to dating, which I think, especially with men, resonates. Particularly to me and my STEM career and background. I appreciated the nuanced approach to the numbers and my chances as I do not live in or near a metro city and I am over the age of 50. While vernacular like market size may not appeal to everyone I think it's refreshing to get, even if blunt, honest feedback without any sugar coating.

I did speak with other agencies before joining gayquation and many things turned me off like not listing their prices on their site (bad sign! Usually in the $1000's) or during consultations giving me unrealistic expectations without even asking questions about me. I found that odd. With Nick P., I felt comfortable during our consultation I would be in good hands, even if the perfect match did not come about. I outsource certain tasks to experts in my business so why not do that in my personal life, I thought to myself. I think of it like small investment ($200/month) as I just do not enjoy the apps, nor have time to sift through profiles and move conversations along. And truthfully I am bad at it.

Thus far, Nick P. And his team is doing that for me. As a 50-something year old gay man, a little help is a lot of help. I will give another update a few months in but thus far I appreciate the hard work they have put in on my behalf. I realize they do scour everywhere, including their own Db. My first several matches, while nice guys, were not a fit long term. One though became a friend. We in fact joined a meetup group together recently. I do not have any gay friends so it has been refreshing.

Note: I did not elect for the coaching but may add it in the future. I believe they have another add-on but it did not seem useful to me.

I advise you to have a phone consultation (mine ran for 1 ½ hours) and I believe Nick P. Is the one that conducts them.

Hope this helps.

Tip for consumers:
Do request a consultation via their website. They will return your email quite quickly. Mine was answered in less than 24 hours. My friend elected for the coaching addon and while second hand he is pleased with it thus far.

Sadly, I feel I paid too much for what I received, $150 for 4 "unmatched" men. Nick was friendly and responsive; he just couldn't find me 4 matches I was interested in. Comparatively, FB matched me almost daily with more attractive, eligible men, in my area. You do get what you pay for... and this may be cheap in comparison but I'm better at this than they are - so disappointed.

Jeff, we thank you for being with Gayquation. We appreciate, value and consider all feedback from our clients, past and present, as we promise to continually improve our services and try to get matchmaking as close to a science as possible. With countless variables to control our matchmakers do the best they can with one's location, demographics and criteria. We are proud to offer the lowest price in the industry as we wanted our services available and affordable to everyone around the world. No robots employed here. :) Just matchmakers working tirelessly - locating and communicating with eligible men every day, on behalf of our dedicated clients. Thank you again. And we do hope you give us another opportunity.

You didn't say that but I'm saying that LOL. Keep at it and I will do the same with your advice, however unfiltered it is sometimes. I needed that and I believe most gay men do. I have an incomplete review as they had a hard time finding matches in Rapid City, SD. But I cant fault them for that. They were kind to refund my membership fee after having an interview and one month of work. They did recommend expanding radius but I am relocating to Minneapolis in the fall so will definitely try them again at that time. They have very good customer service.,., I got a reply over the weekend. Otherwise good experience, will be back.

I am glad to see matchmaking is still alive and well. I tried back in the early 2000s I am glad to see matchmaking is still alive and well. I tried back in the early 2000s but it seemed you lost some value using a service like that. Things sure have changed and the stigma of being "desperate" or "updateable" are out the window. I am happy to hear that from my matchmaker from GQ when he approaches prospective bachelors on my behalf, whether within or outside their database. I was surprised to hear that well more than 90% of respondents are ok with being matched with someone who has hired a matchmaker. It's also a testament to their hip feel and non-traditional approach. But it seemed you lost some value using a service like that. Things sure have changed and the stigma of being "desperate" or "updateable" are out the window. Took a chance to sign up and felt very scammed. Despite living in a city with a huge gay population it took a very long time to get my first match who promptly didn't return my first e-mail contact. Out of the four people who I was ultimately introduced to, only one even bothered to initially respond via email once.

I so wanted this to be real and work, but somehow over four months they couldn't even find someone to reply to an email despite their "vetting" system. Sadly, I 'd say to stay far away!

I apologize for your less than stellar experience with us. We value our clients and their feedback. They asked and we listened. Please note that as of December 2017 in-person introductions (Insta-Dates) are guaranteed in every membership. This will help put our clients in more face-to-face interactions and improve the odds of a connection. We recently made changes to our questionnaire based on 1 client’s suggestions. We want our clients to know that we will always listen in order to improve our services.

So some quick hits from my first 2 months:
Matchmaking: good if you're a busy professional or hate the Apps as they scour every nook and cranny for matches and follow with background checks. They basically do the work for you with better screening tools. Month to month membership so I like that.
Momentum add on: I didn't require it. Supposedly useful for those who need a assistance/advice post-introduction
Coaching: I just added it because I wanted some help with my offline game and do not have any single gay friends to bounce ideas off of. It is month to month as well.
Overall: 4/5

A quick thank you to my coach and matchmaker Nicholas P. - who has been a tremendous on my personal life, including outside Gayquation. He is attentive, honest (sometimes too honest), and above all else a hard worker. I did happen to find a partner while using his services but he was a big reason in finding him. His advice is invaluable and will still keep the coaching service as it's nice to talk to someone, especially early in a relationship and after 10 years of being in one. I also don't have any gay friends so good to bounce ideas off him and get honest but sensitive critiques. Xoxo Gordon

Julian and Chris were so patient with me as I am picky and I want what I want. I gave very stringent criteria for their search. I have been unsuccessful in relationships and have been taken advantage of and hurt by numerous men that I had kind of threw in the towel and was skeptical. However, Gayquation helped me meet Edward and Juan. Although, they turned out to be friends the last introduction that came as a surprise "bonus" match actually turned my head. So far its going well with Malcom and although we are not exclusive just yet we are on our way there and I couldn't be happier. Just wanted to say thanks to Julian and Chris for their time, effort, and expertise. Crossing my fingers and wish me luck.

Thank you for your review. Please note all of our matchmakers are required to respond to our clients within 24 hours. If a match changes his mind or has cold feet, he is replaced per our guarantee. Obviously, we make sure we put you in front of genuine LTR-seeking men that are interested in connecting, but many variables come into play when we headhunt for potential matches outside the network. Hence, we instilled our Match Guarantee so in the event someone does not communicate, he will not count as an introduction. First, our matchmaker reaches out to the match to attempt to jump start it. If he does not hear from him, with a valid reason within 48 hours, he is rejected and replaced. Along with non-communication starters, anyone who misrepresents or an acquaintance is also replaced. Every match must also pass our background check. By listening to our valued clients, like yourself, we try to make our service as tangible as we can.

Dating in the internet era can be frustrating and more than a little annoying. After many years using a variety of self-service websites like Match and many others, I decided to "outsource" my search by hiring a matchmaker. From the start, Nick has been thoughtful and encouraging. We've been working together for more than a year now, and while I've only connected with a handful of men and none of the connections have led to dating relationships, all of Nick's referrals have been reasonable and within my parameters. Yes, some proved to be flakey, but I realized early on that Nick is a guide to help navigate the dating waters -- he's not a miracle worker who can make "the one" suddenly appear. I remain impressed by how hard Nick works for his clients, and I'm hopeful that one day soon he'll make that special match.

I wanted to say thank you to customer support for being so speedy and professional. Three days after my phone interview I had an unforeseen emergency. I contacted my matchmaker and within an hour he processed my refund. I felt bad for the time he had already spent but he didn't blink twice and understood my situation. Customer service contacted me shortly thereafter with an email confirmation. I will definitely be back once things settle down. From what I experienced thus far, the company is quite impressive. I started with an hour long consultation with a senior matchmaker, who didn't rush the call and answered every single one of my questions. My interview followed after I signed up and filled out their questionnaire. It lasted over 90 minutes and was very thorough and he provided me excellent suggestions in terms of my criteria. Again, I will be back for the next phase of the process. See you hopefully in the summer!

Dating in Tampa was very frustrating until a friend referred me to GayQuation. Proud to write this review and call Nick and Greg my friends. They have always been responsive, attentive and Nick provides me invaluable advice during our coaching sessions. If people think matchmaking is easy, they may want to remember the reason why we chose to try it in the first place. Lol I am sure I am not the only one where this is their first go around. Regardless, I am aware they have their work cut out for them, especially in our community. How many gay men do you believe are genuinely looking for something of substance? Needle in a haystack? Perhaps not. But they do yeoman's work in filtering out the duds and keeping my best interest at heart when saying yes to the potentials. I clearly don't have the time and, humbly, even the know-how to do it. :) I have terrible judgement in men and honestly can be a little gullible. The advice and the screening ability has been a God sent. Thank you for the help. With appreciation, Victor.

I tried to join their service and was left stood-up waiting for the matchmaker to call me. If they can't even follow up with a phone call when they say they will, can they be trusted to do any legitimate matchmaking? Don't bother.

Hi Edgar, I apologize for any inconvenience this caused you. I did speak with the matchmaker and he unfortunately had a new client interview that ran much longer than expected. This is not an excuse as they do schedule ample time in between calls in the event that happens. We do sincerely apologize again and thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I am a newly out gay man, 42 y/o, 1 child, divorced, living in Phoenix. The coaching I received was a God sent. The last time I was single was AOL chats (remember those?) and I had to not only rediscover dating but dating in 2018. It is very different to say the least. My coach/matchmaker did a great job in getting myself back on that horse and figuring out what I want - as a gay man. My first pride month too! Wish me luck.
