There was a faulty part on the vehicle that they charged us accident Clam. There was at least three separate accidents on the vehicle, already busted tight, dented door, dented under tray. I wouldn't be surprised if the people got charged for each one of those incense as well yet nothing gets repaired. I'm not sure how to calculate their tolls, either seem a hell of a lot more than what I normally pay.

The van we got was damaged, water leaked inside, boxes and a bookshelf got damaged, we destroyed blankets and sheets trying to mop up the water, the front cabin was not kept smoke free and had gotten into the air conditioning, there was duct tape on side of van, additional tape on front of van, back locks broken - its obvious minimal or no maintenance is performed on these vehicles and they run them into the ground. The inner damage had to patch it up with sealant as it was raining really heavy. Later when we complained about this we we're told it was impossible to have leakage even though we provided photos. Kimberley - National Operations Supervisor has made it clear that the experience of water leaking and our repair didn't happen and doesn't exist. So yeah, if you want all your stuff damaged and then to be gaslit by a horrible sales woman go with gecko.

I do not recommend anyone to hire any service and be careful with your credit card as they could make unauthorized charges without your knowledge as happened to me. Don't be seduced by the low prices. Pay a little bit more for a better and reliable service in other company.

I rented and paid by one kind of vehicle by using their website but need to accept other similar more expensive after that because the vehicle wasn't avaiable.

We paid the $200 pre-authorisation fee almost a month ago. On their website it says you need to wait 10 days before it's deposited back into your account.

After 3 weeks we contacted them and they informed us they would deposit the money back into our account.
We contacted them again today and was informed we needed to "speak with our bank" because gowithgecko no longer had our money and it was the "banks responsibility".

If you're going to use this hire place I would probably kiss goodbye to any deposits you place. :).

They make jump through hoops, then because your driver's license if from NZ they want a $300 extra bond, then when you cancel because they are scamming you they charge you $33. Don't waste your time.
Go with Car next door app for cheaper and fewer hassles.

First and last, never again, first Ute wouldn't start then next Ute dirty and low fuel level. I returned on time, within a few days they decided to charge me cleaning fees and many other fees. I'm disputing with my bank. You have been warned!

Charging clients without notification and who are not at fault after 3 weeks. No complaints process on the website or readily available license/accreditation information to report to authorities.

First vehicle rental was okay, had to call multiple times to locate my vehicle. Second rental was frustrating & annoying, they would call you non-stop. Informed them to email instead, as I couldn't be on my phone while at work but they do not understand a customers request. They also tried to charge money without my consent, not just once but 5 times. Told them not to ask me before that but of course, they do not understand that and I felt very dodgy about the company.
I also felt that the employees aren't up to date with the company's policy. Sadly, the manager himself can't handle/understand a customers issue/complaint. Says one thing over the phone and does another.
Definitely will not be using their service ever again, there are better options out there if you are willing to pay a lil more. Glad I was able to stop myh friends and families from using their service. Only good feature is the app nothing more.

The app for finding the vehicle is virtually unusable: The time to get to the vehicle is extremely inaccurate. The directions, asks you to make turns that are illegal,. Once you go off the directed route, due to not breaking the law, it does not re-route etc. Once you arrive at the locations, the vehicle is not there. When you ring, you are on hold for 15 minutes, and the answer is, oh, the vehicle is only going to be there another 1 hour (3 hours after the time you booked).

Believe the other bad reviews. Inept staff who all tell you different things. It seems like they have not had very little training! Look elsewhere

This is a sham and a cowboy company. They really do provide you with wrong information and hidden chargers. Save yourself some time and stress and use a reputable company

This is an entirely self-service operation- no face-to-face staff, no offices. I was completely unaware of this when I booked a van for hire. The website for mobile and website for desktop look entirely different with different information made prominent. I booked on the desktop system and the concept that this was a self-service set up passed me by.

The van I booked was not properly entered into their system (apparently), the van was not actually booked or available. The upshot was we drove around for an hour from different locations to come to a van that was not what we had booked and nor was it the right size for what we needed (which I had carefully worked out).
So, after two wasted and frustrating hours with my husband trying to get the van released by uploading my private details on my drivers licence, and paying via credit card - no van. We had to abandon the move that day and make another plan.
I did receive a full refund two days later, so that is a plus.
I have no idea if they will properly destroy my personal information. This is the key problem I have with the entire operation.
I will only hire from reputable and known businesses in future.

Booked van online for next day pickup at 10am, first received said this is not a confirmation as there will be a second email which will confirm bookings details but there was no second email. Went to pickup location where van was supposed to be but it was not there, called customer service and was told they will look into it and call back within 5 min but no call received. Called customer service again, operator said they require more information. After many emails and calls back and forth, I finally got to the stage of inspecting the van while operator on the phone. This is where the fun begins, in short the van was not in anyway roadworthy.

- Rear view mirror hanging from the roof by its electrical wires
- Rear right hand side wiper arm missing
- Back tailgate damaged making it hard to open and close the door
- Rear locks not working properly
- Rubber seal on tailgate door comes off when opening
- Front bar damaged
- One of the fog lights looks like it was going to fall through

There was multiple damages, dents and scratches on the car. I kept telling the operator but he wasn't interested and kept saying you can take photos.

I had an event in the city and needed to be there by 11am, I had 2 of my staff rostered for 11am start. By the time I finished the process of getting into the van it was nearly 12pm, after arguing the operator says I'll change the booking to 12pm return. By this time I've already paid 2 staff members 2 hours each which is a loss to my business. Not only was I late, that night I was pulled over for random breath test the office noticed it and said what's up with the rear view mirror, I was so lucky that this officer was nice but I think it's because he rented a van once and had a similar experience. He said I didn't see that but be safe, he was very considerate and I was very lucky I didn't get booked.

Returning the van was just as bad, I got back to the pickup location carpark before 12pm to find 2 vehicles parked in both bays allocated bays. Drove around for around 20 minutes to find another carpark when the person parked in the bays was leaving, by the time this happened it was 12:24.

Went through the whole rubbish process, was exhausted by the time o had finished. Thinking they will just return the holding deposit, I was wrong.

- They charged me a late fee because I was 2 hours and 24 min late, I called and was told nope you were late.
- They charge me tolls, I had put the van on my toll account so I'll probably be charged by them.
- The rental was 100k per day, I went over by 12k's, I'm not being a tight $#*! as it was only $4 but you would think there would be some sort of common sense but I guess $4 by thousands it all adds up. I probably should be more business minded and not nice in my own business because I would be a millionaire, then again I've got return customers who are loyal and always come back even when I've been more expensive then others in the industry.

The additional charges have cost me $106.05, I'm probably not going to see the rest because I've yet to have this refund.

I can go on, just to note I sent an email to only received an arrogant email from a guy called Ronald. I replied to his email and over week yet to get a reply. Australian owned and operated I don't think so, I can guarantee the call centre was not based in Australia because Australian give a $#*!.

I think I've said enough on here, but I'll be following this up with NSW Fair trading and if I have to take it further I will just as a matter of principal. I've read reviews all over the net and I've yet to come across one positive, if anyone is keen to confront these people I'm happy to go as a group.

Sorry for posting such a lengthy review but it's really rubbed me up the wrong way, probably better off renting off the big guys for peace of mind and the fact they have physical locations.
