“Reunited with our dog”

Molly L.
6/26/23

Our small dog (corgi) ran away from our house. We live in the country with a lot of woods and coyotes. She is chipped and had her tag on her collar. After searching for her and not being able to find her we reported her missing on their website. The next day she was found at an abandoned farm house by a local farmer. He was able to get her reunited with us after calling Home Again. She is home safe and sound thanks to Home Again!

“Horrible Customer Service”

It is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to speak to an actual human! All you get is an automated recording saying "we are experiencing higher than normal call volume please leave a detailed message and we will call you back". No one ever calls back! God forbid a pet was actually missing or found …. No one would ever know because you can't get ahold of anyone! Absolutely by far the worst Microchip company! Home again should be called NeverAgain!

No need to call the number that they give you because they will not call you back. I have called several times waited for over 11 minutes each time to no avail. God forbid my dog get lost I would never be able to find him. Had I known this prior to having the chip install installed? I would never have done it if you enter the Chip number on their site, it says there is an error and they cannot find the chip.

Does not answer phone. No return call. Why did my vet choose this company and now my dogs are stuck with their microchip? If I am unable to reach anyone for mundane reasons, what happens when I need them in an emergency. I would not use this company.

Tip for consumers:
Not really.

Products used:
It is a service not a product. I paid at my Vet for the service. They actually injected my pet with a microchip that belongs to this company and then they monitor it. They are not able to answer phone or return phone calls.

A week After I enrolled with verification, and email verification, I couldn't login. When trying to create a new account I couldn't because the chip number was already registered, account created because I had done that the previous week.
I called Customer Service. They kept telling me the chip didn't exist, that I wasn't registered/enrolled.
Absolutely worthless.

Tip for consumers:
Just absolutely worthless due to customer service trying to tell me my registration didn't occur even though if I try to register it states "duplicate account" because I previously registered. The Vet office also registered in their side.

Today, out of the blue, I received a call from someone named Catherine (she refused to give me her last name) who claimed that someone wanted to adopt my dog (she provided the name of one of my dogs). I was flabbergasted and told her that I had no interest in giving my dog away and asked why she was even calling me. She was hostile and evasive. I have no idea why she called me but believe this is a scam. I reported this company to the FTC.

Customer service is non existent. They do not respond however you contact them. You better off getting a collar with pets name and the owner's phone number on it. I am honestly surprised this company is still in business. If I could give it zero stars I would.

Have a new dog and she was microchipped at the vet. The microchip number gives me an error message. No one answers calls or returns emails at HomeAgain. Zero customer service. Horrible company.

I have a dog who was surrendered to me with paperwork stating such. When I tried to transfer the microchip over I was told 2 to 4 days. Then a week later I was told 3 to 5 weeks... I'm still waiting 3 weeks later. It is such a run around that I will NEVER use home again for anything! Cannot recommend them at all!

Tip for consumers:
I will never waste my time or my pets safety with this company again.

It's been months since we adopted. The adoption place gave me all the info to call to set our pet up with Home Again. So that is what I've been doing for m o n t h s. And no one will ever answer the phone. I just sit on hold. I have called during the morning. No one answers. I have called during the afternoon. No one answers. I have called on the weekends. No one answers. I have called during the week, during the evening. No one will answer. So. Just completely pointless to have this service because well, no one ever answers. I am giving up. What a worthless company.

Neighbor found a lost dog, I saw the post on facebook about the lost dog and the homeagain number and microchip. I called the number. I told the woman 3 times I was reporting a found dog, gave her the microchip number and she wanted to know more clearly what I was calling about - stupid! I finally just hung up. Hope the dog gets home.

I have waited on hold for easily 2-3 hours collecitvely trying to get in touch with someone at HomeAgain. I just sit on hold with zero answer. I emailed customer service and NEVER received a response beyond the automated response indicating that my email had been received and they are "working to respond as quickly as possible" - that was a month ago and still no response. During the time I've been waiting for a response to my email though, I have received 2 emails indicating that I need to submit renewal fees for my 2 dogs. It appreciate the objective of this business but the implementation and customer service is so severely lacking that I would not trust them to help me if either or both of my dogs got lost.

Disappointment does not cover it. This company had zero problem, transferring ownership of my dog to another person without my authority. I was the primary person on the account. I received a phone call for the authority to exchange transfer of ownership, and when I called back to confirm they told me I had no rights and the account was changed. This company does not care about their animals. And they have zero respect for the owners. But they will take your money.

I have been searching for my dog for years, they transferred ownership of my dog shortly after he was reported missing. Multiple calls and emails over the years as I was unable to renew his registration because within months they transferred ownership. They continue to tell me there's nothing they can do but put in a transfer request. Of course the people who have a stolen/lost pet are goi g to deny a transfer. Five years and I'm still trying to get my dog back and they could care less. I've provided multiple documents multiple photos proving ownership and they won't do anything about it. They won't own up to their mistake of transferring ownership. They even tried to tell me I had the wrong microchip number, but that my dog was still in the database as lost/stolen. Choose a different company, they don't care and they won't do anything to reunite you with your pet. If you already used them I suggest re chipping your pet with another company.

Customer service is ludicrous. After waiting half an hour on hold, I left a message, which they said would be responded to in 48 hours. Guess what--no reply. So I sent an email through the website. A week later--no reply. Finally, after calling again and waiting forever on hold, I talked to a dim bulb who spent more time trying to upsell me on a new tag than she did actually taking my information and renewing my subscription. Had to repeat everything six times.

I'll be cancelling my auto-renewal and registering with a different service; don't have time for this nonsense. If they can't get the easy stuff right, I sure as heck don't trust them if my dog actually gets lost (God forbid).

Home Again Pet Recovery is terrible to get in contact with. I have tried for 2 days to reach them as their website will not allow me to update data. I left a message 24 hours ago and have not gotten a reply nor did they update the information I requested to be updated.
I tired leaving another message just now but even my voice mail message tonight did not go through,.
It's time to renew and I am going to look for an alternative company.

If you have an issue, sucks for you! They'll "consolidate your account" and say "the enhancement is taking longer than expected" for god knows how long instead of fixing the issue. The vet who registered my cats chip forgot 1 letter in my email, meaning my contact info is NOT correct, and they won't fix it. Say they can, but they won't. Had to create a new Yahoo account with the email so I have access to the account, not happy.

When you're stressed and trying to report a lost pet ASAP, the HomeAgain site is pretty clunky, especially if you're trying to edit a pet's profile or create an alert on your phone. The first rep I spoke to immediately after my cat ran away was extremely unhelpful and just kept asking me what his microchip number was when the rep should have been able to access that info after she verified I was the account holder. I was in a gas station parking lot and not parked in front of my computer at home. I hung up and called back to speak with someone who was more on the ball. Once I got home and tried to download the poster for my missing cat, there was a technical glitch that meant I was downloading an empty file, or a file with stock images in it for the sample poster featuring a German Shepherd, and I had to call to speak with a rep who fortunately happened to actually be helpful in spite of the many issues she was encountering on her end with the system. Even though I went over the exact wording for the poster with the rep helping me with the technical glitch, the final wording of the poster was not exactly what I had designated, but I didn't want to have to keep calling to tweak things I should have been able to fix through my online account.

They only sent out an alert email three times, and when I called back after several weeks of my cat missing to say I had an updated location for his latest whereabouts, and could they please send out another alert, the rep I spoke with said yes, and that everything was good to go after I gave her the new address. But nothing was sent out, so I would have to call again to ask why no alert was emailed when I was assured it would be.

I think the level of service you get is only as good as the rep you speak with, and that's not acceptable considering most of the reps didn't seem that helpful. But maybe it's a crappy job and it's hard to keep good people providing support.

Losing an animal is an extremely stressful and emotional experience, and the least HomeAgain can do is hold up its end of the bargain for lost pets rather than just being in the business of making microchips and accessories. I don't think the pet location aspect of the package is adequate, and that's a shame because my vet chose a HomeAgain chip, and I'm stuck with their service that is likely to be as inadequate should I lose either of my other two cats.

Fraud alert! Had my cat chipped with HomeAgain. Been trying to register the chip for days with no success. Website does not work. Phone calling is horrible. Wait on-line for 20 minutes and then be told to leave a laundry list of information and the reason for the call and they will call you back. No call backs. Absolutely nothing. Don't waste your time with these people. The cat that needs to be registered is now lost. Thanks Home(Again)less Again!

Went on site after vet inserted chip on our cat to finish the profile, first year being free. They asked for a credit card to renew yearly, (beware) DONT DO IT! The very next day three charges were made to our account two for $21.99 and one for $38.98. On my account profile it show three charges two for $0.00 and one for $16.99 WTF? Tried calling them and it goes right to elevator to hell music for about ten minutes then to give us your info and we'll call back haven't received any return calls. Sent them an email no return emails. Do not pay online wait for bill or better yet find another company there's a reason they have one star rating! Make sure you ask your vet what company they use.

I adopted a rescue. At first, it took days and numerous calls to get the tag switched over to me. Then I attempted to renew. Ha! More calls, more wasted time on hold, I left voice messages, sent emails-no response. I have since sent an email cancelling my account, still not done. I have also removed my credit card info and keep an eye on my transactions, just in case. All in all, contacting Home Again Customer Service is an exercise in futility!

I have spent over an hour of my life that I'll never get back tryin to pay these people money for my cat's chip. Something simple. No return call. No return to emails and the website does not work! Tells me to call. Ok. I call and nothing. If you get a choice stay away from these people. My ver didn't give a choice. I didn't even know I needed to think about it when I had him chipped!

Found a lost dog with their microchip. They can't get in touch with the owners which I understand isn't entirely their fault. However, they have hung up on me multiple times, and when I say multiple I mean AT LEAST 5 times. They are making it impossible for me to return this dog to it's owners. Also been left on hold for 30 minutes at a time at which point I get hung up on.

Tip for consumers:
Don't use HomeAgain. Customer service is abysmal. I have been hung up on every time I make a phone call to them trying to return someones dog. This poor animal is going to the pound tomorrow because these people don't care about your pets.
