IMGUR might be the most toxic community I've ever seen. It is run by a group of lunatic leftists who will ban anyone who even remotely wavers from towing their political agenda. If you want a peek behind the scenes of Antifa's ideology and network, this is it. They call anyone and everyone they don't agree with fascists and nazis. Their power users, who are all linked up to a discord server which includes the mods and head of community routinely threaten violence and spin up mobs to attack other users.

I set up an account and posted the below picture, which was enough to get the account banned (irony intended).

One can only hope that the corporate advertisers wise up and recognize that they are associating their brands with a hate site.

Imgur hires mods with left wing bias and is expressed in their daily operations. I can't count how many times I made a comment critical of Socialism and it gets taken down without warning or explanation. This is not on their TOS and violates their own TOS and supposed ethos. Imgur is a socialist propaganda echo chamber.

Been a member for 12 years. Seen it go from any other image sharing site where mostly memes were posted to an absolutely unhinged hateful echochamber with honestly kinda dangerous fringe elements that go unmoderated. The site has a very obvious liberal bias, which in itself isnt that big of a thing, nowdays there are barely any site that isnt biased, but the extent is insane. I wont make a list of the usual tropes, rather what made me leave the site for good: clear support of terrorism and genocide. Since the israel-gaza conflict multiple posts popped up praising the houthis, and were actually upvoted to frontpage. Comments claiming the hamas attack on oct 7 was justified. Criticizing hamas gets you being piled on, and being called a bloodthirsty genocidal monster (the irony). Suggesting that disenfranchising or EUTHANIZING trump cultists are "good options". These are unmoderated, upvoted posts/comments. Im a lefty/liberal person, but imgur is NOT that, its something that should be monitored by law enforcement.
Advertisers should really spend an hour or two looking at posts and comments unfiltered and ask themselves if they want this platform to be their billboard. Consumers/users (even those who are more aligned with liberals) should avoid it, the couple of cute animal posts does not worth it in the sea of unhinged hate.

There are some really cool and interesting things people are doing and sharing on this website, but you have to dig through mountains of recycled meme macros, re-posts galore, arbitrary "community" norms like "cat tax" and "no selfies", and inconsistent moderator actions.

The anonymous upvote/downvote mechanism allows for rampant abuse, especially since there is little consequence for downvoting another member's submission. The scale of abuse aimed at well intentioned but non-conforming viewpoints is staggering. 140 characters seems to be inadequate space to articulate and engage in meaningful discussion over some very controversial but tolerated political posts, especially.

The front page of featured images are packed with Trump-hate and radical left wing content even some calling for white genocide and to "kill all whites". None of that ever gets removed in fact it get's upvoted. Yet I got my post removed for "violating community guidelines" but all it was was a simple post about the fact that Georgetown lost to Colorado after kneeling for the anthem it didn't have anything actually violating in it. It's basically Twitter now but with more GIFs and a downvote button. Avoid this site at all costs.

Desperate women seeking whatever attention they can get through soft porn posts. Thirsty guys lavishing them with praise while hiding in their white armor and ganging up on anyone who disagrees. Its like Tinder. But the worst, by far is the terrible mods, they feed into this circlejerk while claiming they dont, they are outright hateful to anyone they dont approve of, and they will never change so long as the same desperate women and thirsty men keep giving them ad revenue.

They are legitimately terrible people filled with malice and greed and have no business trying to say they are good.

If you're left winged, anti republican, anti Christian, then Imgur is the place for you. If you're right winged, Christian, anti democrat, you get banned. Hundreds of memes bashing Republicans, Trump, Christians, etc. Those are all fine. If you dare post a meme or a comment defending Rupublicans, Trump, Christians, or if you dare to bash democrats or biden, then you get banned very quickly. Try to email support to get some clarification as to why you get banned, and they will not respond to you.

This is a hate site. There is no room for opinions that oppose the totalitarian regime. All shall be silenced who question the czars of Imgur. It is a left-wing police state. Don't use Imgur unless you are a far left-winger and just want to hear your own opinions spoon fed back to you in the great echo chamber. Imgur dulls the mind quickly as there is no real intellectual debate or conversation. Logical arguments back and forth do not exist. I'm guessing Imgur is probably fun for teenagers who think they are the next Che Guevara or something. Anyway, thank you for attending my TED talk.

When photobucket decided to take the whole internet hostage, ruining forum content, etc. with no warning, the internet needed to look elsewhere (seriously, who would pay $399/year?). Where did the internet go? Imgur. Thank you for the great service you provide. We really do appreciate it! Great site, works better than photobucket ever did and it's free!

Browsing imgur used to be a daily activity to pass time. It was a place of sharing images covering a wide range of topics. Sure, there were opinions on current events, but they covered the gamut. Once prized for it's community, imgur has devolved into a circlejerk where concepts of social justice are selectively applied. I honestly can't tell at this point whether the current community is stupid enough to believe its hubris, or if most the comments just come from bots. Come for the memes, stay for the for the doublethink and self congratulatory hivemind at this point.

Imgur used to be great 10+ years ago. Now it's filled with obviously promoted propaganda and censorship. Well there was even censorship 10 years ago. I remember posting pictures and art and being made fun of by nasty toxic drones. I tried to post a picture about the millions of people starving in Yemen and it got down voted and censored. That is both disgusting and disturbing. These people have no souls. Total narcissistic psychos. It's still okay for hosting private images I guess, but for entertainment it's garbage.

Went for the means, left for the bootlicking of the American DNC. The mods do nothing to stop the spread of misinformation and propaganda. I'm no Republican, but any comment against narrative of imgur's toxic community is met with insults and accusations of being a Trump worshipping fascist. Meanwhile, they worship corrupt corporate polticians. Beyond that, it's rife with trauma dumpers dying to be pittied and gofundme scammers with loose sob stories that the gullible idiot masses eat up like cake. Rational people should avoid this app/site like the plague that it is.

I commented on someone who posted that they don't know how to feel about trans women in women's sports. I commented but didn't say anything bad about trans people, i made a valid point. They threatened to suspend my account because it goes against their abusive, harassing, hateful, bullying, or discriminatory policy. Because I don't believe that a man should be allowed in a women's locker room and I can't get behind this movement that exposes young girls and women to rape and sexual assault they removed my comment and threatened to deactivate my account. They think they're these accepting and tolerant social justice warriors, yet if you don't agree with one of their ideologies you'll get banned.

Used to be a good fun site but they cater too much to ad revenue, new policies, and other things which made it great

The site is filled with hate. Messages saying "kill all the Police" are not uncommon. I reported them to Imgur and nothing happen. It is cesspit congregating sad individuals manipulated by certain interest groups.

Imgur is filled with a bunch of pathetic fat losers. I literally get mass downvoted because I was asking why fox news counted as Fascist propaganda. Then I say that all fascists and republicans should be imprisoned and Liberals/Socialists are the best people ever and I get mass upvoted. Mfs are literal losers. If you're not an extreme left winger, you are not allowed to voice an opinion. They will delete your comments immediately without any explanation, just because it doesn't fit with their agenda. IMGUR is the most petty online community I've ever seen. Don't bother visiting IMGUR.

Imgur is not a place for decent, original human beings who are creative and come up with their own stuff. If you look at anything art related that is posted, it gets immediate hate and has a bunch of 30 year old men with no jobs, live in their mom's basement and have cheeto dust all over their long, crusty beards saying how trash it is. If what I just said describes you, then congratulations! You should go to Imgur! But chances are, you are an actual intelligent human being if you understand how toxic it is and you are reading this. Imgur goes to great lengths to police their platforms but does so in favor of high output users. So it becomes a power dynamic and if you say something they disagree with especially on Sunday when there are no moderators, then they will multi report you and get you a 24 hour ban in which you cannot defend yourself. They literally practice and allow censorship, but in a narrative changing way. Very toxic and allows abusers to feel they have a place to dominate others.
They added filters now to block unwanted tags, political serial posters, and now you can also block anyone who harasses you or you suspect may be dis genuine, etc. Doesn't change the fact that many users are simply to is and can still see and harm your content activity.

It's a cesspool of people that love to attack one another and spread hateful comments. If you are too old, a different skin color, or a woman, I would avoid this place. It's got more hateful ideology than I've ever found anywhere outside of maybe Reddit.
On top of that, the mods let it happen and are on board with it. I pointed out that someone was being ageist and they could be fired for that in the real world, and they flagged my comment with a "warning" that it goes against their community standards. LOL what standards? These idiots need to take a long look in the mirror.

Look I am not very much a political man and when I am I am civil about it. I used to frequent this site on a daily basis but the political commentary infecting every single feed with comments is offputting in every regard, race and justification for violence against political opponents (generally republicans and right wingers here) is used in most single front page posting with top comments regularly calling for outright violence. I just wanted to see animal pictures and the occasional info graphics. Here is a quick example from my experience today (7 March, 2022), for reference I don't give crap about some truck convoy to DC but when I see people posting and upvoting comments on how an A-10, a close air support assault aircraft, should be used on these truckers on the road (thus implying using these aircraft to brutally murder truckers and destroy their vehicles), I find this rhetoric deeply disturbing. I will not be visiting this site again and I hope the government regulates and shuts down this cesspool of lunacy and disinformation.

Even after they implemented the filters, the constant stream of Anti-Trump/Right STILL clutters the Front Page. Going to Usersub is all kinds of crappy anime pictures and game templates, so it's not really an escape from the politics. This used to be a really cool site to get/share memes on, but those days are long gone. The ads are out of control. The mods will ban you for stating a reasonable counterpoint (like if you are a Vet, and correct misinformation about the VA for example). It's a sad little echo-chamber like Reddit and Fark. Deleting my profile sucked, I'd had it since 2011 if memory serves. I'd look to verify but again, I deleted it and their $#*!ty phone app. I'm not into circlejerks.
