Hi I am writing a review of the Yonge Street store. Great service from polite staff-Both the service desk person and cashier were polite and professional. I am always impressed by the management team and the customers. I can only say positive about this store and Bayview. I can appreciate their hard work and efforts considering the crisis we are in. Keep up the great work ladies and gents!.

Metro is a fraud, most expensive for nothing. Raised most prices 20% for "inflation" but made 10% more profit last quarter so screwing poor customers. Also king of food waste keeping overpriced perishable foods on shelves to rot to garbage instead of dropping price, throwing away tons of food that could feed poor families. Plus we're paying more for less service, no regular cashes open, just quick pay so we have to do more work by scanning and bagging while 5-6 kids standing in front getting paid to make disgusting jokes. What a scam!

Products used:
None, way too expensive for no service, left store and went to corner store instead where everything 10-20% cheaper and better service since they scan and bag for you, and still have plastic bags Metro doesn't.

We've been doing groceries online for like a month at Metro and every time they mess up our order. They substitute unsweetened milk with sugar milk, gluten free pizza with regular one. Who does that? I am 100$ more in products in loss as I need to discard those products I cannot use. You cannot even ask for a refund, the website is a scam for refunds, it allows you only 7 digits for an order when asking for 8-10 to be able to submit online! What a $#*!show! I am dropping them!

The metro on Chemong street in Peterborough is disgusting he rude should be fired he treat special need women disgusting and there two other one a cart boy and a blonde lady. If they don't one certain people to being in bags and than bring back plastic bag. I will really like to see these three people learn how to deal with special needs people as all three is disgusting human being

Generally amiable staff with one glaring exception - the gray haired black woman in customer express check out who physically abuses customers, my wife included, insults on a regular basis, spreads lies to other staff in loud voice and pukes racist insults against white people! Of all things! Management does not know what a destructive monster they have on their hands. After 11 years her latest tirade has caused 16 of us to avoid this hell hole now and our buoycot is spreading. NO ONE deserves that type of overtly aggressive hostility simply for shopping!

It is incredible that Metro webpage had all meat products with prices that are wrong (cheaper). Do they do that to cheat on customers to buy at higher prices? I don't know, but will never buy from them. Such a waste of time.

I am housebound and was ordering delivery from Fortino's in Hamilton, Ontario. They have a "policy" of charging more for online groceries, even before delivery and other charges. The company gives no reason for this. While this was aggravating, I did not have many choices until recently. Today, I tried the Metro online grocery delivery and they were great: the produce was fresh and unbruised and the delivery person was polite and cheerful. Best of all, for a week's groceries, the bill was about 50 dollars less than for similar products from Fortino's.

Worst delivery service ever! I have had nothing but issues with the delivery team they use. I switched to Longos over a year ago and never ever have a problem with deliveries. Sometimes I order still from Metro if Longo's doesn't have a time I need or a grocery item I need. The driver this time said he was here at 5:47-6 and no one was home... I had fast food delivered at 6 no issues. Last time they said the road was blocked, called the police to confirm and that was a lie as well. They keep offering $15 gift cards instead of fixing their delivery issues! Now I have to wait until tomorrow between 2-4 to have them delivered. I have dinner guests coming tomorrow and now no time to prepare the food

Having used the delivery service for the better part of a year, the quality of everything but the drivers has continued to decline. Despite insisting on no substitutions, the store consistently substitutes products—sometimes, from completely unrelated categories. When I called the customer service centre, an agent sheepishly informed me that stores were instructed to substitute products regardless of the customers chosen preference. It seems they are intent on making you purchase something, even if it is completely unrelated. I once ordered isopropyl alcohol and they sent me compress bandages.

The final straw was my last order. All the perishable food was spoiled. The pita bread was so obvious because of the clear packaging. Fuzzy, green mould patches all over ever piece of bread. Painfully obvious, yet, they sent it anyway.

I made three attempts to rectify the situation through their preferred channels but have been ghosted now for more than two months. They simply refuse to return my calls, emails, or respond to requests made through their site.

I will never again do business with this company and have informed my credit card's fraud department. I may, in the end, consider investigating legal action, especially, considering this is likely a systemic issue (if not official policy) and could possibly end up meriting class-action status on any potential litigation.

Tip for consumers:
Avoid this store, especially if you are considering online delivery.

I have been shopping at Metro for decades and love the store and the products. But the last little while it has come to my attention how some of the cashiers are very unfriendly, some have a scowl on their face and look miserable. It is unpleasant to come in contact with such people. Just wanted to inform the management of this fact. Thank you (re: Metro in Guelph)

An absolute waste of my time. You better believe it...!
I actually lost almost 5lbs in body fluid waiting under the blazing Sun, while the Metro store on McCarthy Street in Ottawa was trying to work out the glitches within its online system...
47 minutes to be precise, seating & waiting in my car for a confirmed online order placed almost 24 hours earlier, with an email correspondence stating that my order would be ready for pick up at the scheduled time... WRONG!
Metro team's (management/customer service) only excuse is that this store is new at Online Grocery business.
Say what? Total nonsense.
How lame for an excuse... Terrible Customer Service!
Metro should have gotten itself together before venturing down this avenue meant for the Big Boys.
Metro has proven not to be up to the game as yet.
Do not let the $15 first-time online order fool you by luring you into the Metro grocery store... unless your time is only worthy of a fifteen-dollar coupon to be applied onto over-priced goods, or you want to lose weight by sweating while seating in the heat during summer, or freezing yourself in your automobile in the winter months... should Metro survive the online pick-up until then!
By the time I finally picked up my "incomplete" order and arrived back home, the frozen entree in my grocery had melted due to the excessive heat and was ready for the garbage.
I couldn't be bothered to go back to the store for a refund and did not feel like requesting a stop payment for this unacceptable order and service.
I would stay away from this store for more than one reason... Earlier during the day, and just minutes before pulling up to pick up my online order, I was sold a carton of Tropicana cranberry juice which was 2 weeks past due and still on the shelf with six other expired cartons.

Shame!

Customer service to show signs of appreciation and assure customers that Metro is dedicated to improving the shameful online grocery service.
Being new in the online business is no excuse for a grocery store as "big" as Metro!

Too many arrogant workers...ask a broad an aisle direction and she ignored my first two requests. The store should shut out these unionized SOBs! Go to No Frills on Island Rd instead.

Metro demands a 2-hour delivery window for groceries, while Walmart only needs 1 hour. In spite of that my Metro delivery was still over an hour late. Given that Metro's prices are far higher than Walmart, this pathetic service for delivery is inexcusable. But don't worry, this was my first and LAST instance of doing business with Metro.

I placed an order and the delivery never came. No calls, no emails nothing! Absolutely disappointed. I asked for a refund and it will take 10 business days.

I moved to Saint Laurent and two block away from Metro, I went to try this store ( such mistake).
I bought all my groceries and I didn't mind price, after paying my order at the door a young guy told me I am not allowed to take carriage out and when I asked how I take my bags to my car his answer made me extremally angry (I don't know it is not my business).
I asked myself why this company does advertising or loyalty cards when their employees does not care, anyway for me Metro is finished and I will share this horrible experience with my friends and colleagues.

My husband and I have used our local Metro store for about five years because of its convenience, being situated just across the road from where we live. However, it always appears that we are under over-zealous scrutiny from security and staff each time we visit. We have no idea why…we spend a lot of money each time we shop and certainly don't act in a suspicious manner. Perhaps it's because we are a mixed-race couple, maybe dress too casually or are considered scruffy, too fat, too old, or a combination of biases? I understand a rise in the cost of grocery items correlates to a rise in shoplifting, but seriously, enough is enough already.
We have experienced a plethora of odd incidents relating to staff following us, scrutiny from till operatives as we walk down each aisle and staff has literally breathed down our necks at the self-checkout, even when putting on my gloves after paying. Although we have joked about this problem, the realization that this does not happen elsewhere has clinched the decision to call it quits and not visit the store again. I believe it's better to have some self-respect and not allow retail employees to treat you in this manner… so Metro at 221 Lloyd Manor Rd, Etobicoke can go and do one…maybe hassle someone else with their "isms" for a change.

Went to get your Boneless chicken for $3.99 lb... South
Whitby store only had small packs. At $4.99

Asked clerk for feature... he said they had no family packs as advertized. Only small ones.
I asked if they were the same chickens ln the small and and large... he said yes...
Family pack would constitute buying 3 small packs... I should have been offered a
rewrap to a family pack at $3.99lb... or at least a raincheck...
NOTHING...

The metros in London are all dirty looking... I prefer cleaner environment and classier markets Like remark or farm boy compared to metro sobeys is good too!

Metro head office please answer this.
Why are you making clients buy multiples items of the same product in order to save. You advertise 2 for $6.00 or one for $3.49,2 for $8.00 or one for $4.99,3 for $9.00 or one for $3.39 and so on... doing so you are making MUCH more profits
On the picture attach you have 2 for $5.00 or one for $3.39... you are already making a decent profit at 2 for $5.00 but a $#*! load more when you sell two one at a time
People living alone or on a tight budget cannot buy two items of everything they need.
You are taking ADVANTAGE of these people while making much more profits.

Metro, at 3090 Bathurst Street, had their plain clothes security Indian looking guy, racially profiled me for weeks and last night I reached my limit and confronted him and let him know that I knew who he was and that I was recording him for weeks, he just said "yeah?", dropped his fake shopping meat back in the freezer and disappeared….the night before, I watched him the night before and watched him put his fake shopping in his hold up buggy by customer service leaving meat, juice and milk more than two hours out the fridge, and not in accordance with health Canada regulations, just so he can stalk and follow black people only, while the white people walking off with stuff in the boobs, crotch and pockets, but they too busy harassing black people. Shopping while black, well I took my business elsewhere and walked out because I would never shop there again, nor would I ever give them another dime, after spending $2500 monthly there and minding my own business, I still can't shop in peace, we'll the night before, he did the same thing so I turned it around on him, by turning around and following up down every isle to see how he liked it, looks like he was uncomfortable 😳, well sir, that's how it feels. I have my recordings, and I intend to file a human rights complaint. Bunch of losers discriminating, kept watching, didn't see him, not once, followed the white people, well now that I have him picture and recording, I let every black person I know share it, complete idiot!

Was supposed to receive washer dryer package from them yesterday. Got an automated call on Friday, giving me a window of 3:30-6:30. Saturday comes…get another automated call saying the drivers were finishing up with their delivery before mine, and they would be at my home within the hour…. This was at 2:35… I leave work, come home….and wait…and wait…and wait! At 5:45 I called the only number I had from this company, and of course they are closed ( side note: when you call the number, it actually says please refrain from yelling and abusing our employees, which means this happens on the daily) so I continue to wait. At 6:55 pm I finally get a call from the driver: will be there in 10 minutes! Yet they never showed up! I waited for over 4 hours for these asshats to come, when they finally call they don't even bother to come. Btw…the driver blocked my phone number, so when I called back obviously no answer! If that doesn't show Quality employees what does?
When I called Costco to complain, the driver actually put on file, no one over the age of 18 was there to accept the order…. I'm 43 yrs old! Difference here is…I have security cameras all over the property… all showing NO ONE came. It's obvious this company is a complete joke…just read their reviews and ratings…but who should be held accountable is the companies continuing to subcontract such a lazy douchebag organization… who make it quite apparent they could care less about their reputation and their customers. And then lie and defame their customers in unrealistic excuses for them to just decide not come! The other reviews are 100% right.if ordering from ANY company that uses these A**holes DONT! They are rude, they lie…and worst of all? They don't give a S***! BBB complaint filed! You should all do the same, and shut them down!

Employees at the pizza oven, terrible actitud they burnt my pizza then without saying sorry they told me we are going to make another one so I have to wait, when I got to my house found out the second pizza was burnt too.

MY grocery order was scheduled for Dec. 31st 12-2 pm I called at 4:00 asking for a delivery update. They said no one was home & called. Left a msg. I'm house bound and this did not happen. Re- scheduled for Jan 2, no show. Promised delivery for Jan 3, no show. Called and said delivery would arrive@ 6 pm 8 pm called and said in 15-20 min. 10 pm called again. No record of any delivery request, truck returned to terminal. Metro associate says that they lie to cover up incompetence. Assured supervisor would call the next day and that too was a lie. Never called. Will never, ever use their service again. Shoppers beware!

Placed my order, on delivery day waited 30 min after my time slot was expired and didn't receive a call or the delivery.
I called costumer service and they checked with the driver and he said no one was at the residence so he left. After further investigation with transport department they found out he was lying. So they apologized and said someone will call you in a hour to figure it out. A hour later I get a call from the driver. I said I was just down the street filling up fuel, I'll be there in 5 min. The driver said ok.
I get back home and the driver took off without even a phone call. Wasted literally the whole day!
I called 4 days in a row to speak to a manager or supervisor and I have yet still not heard a response or e-mail. Absolute worst service and lack of courtesy I have ever experienced for grocery shopping on line. I will never recommend metro.ca to anyone
