“Muttr is a Troll Swap Meet”

Muttr has every sort of troll imaginable. Racists, homophobes, pedophiles, misogynists you name it. And don't count on the so-called "friendly staff" helping. Not only is it super rare for any trolling activity to be deleted but I was banned from the site last year for pleading with the owner (a British guy) to please get the trolls under control. I guess it was easier to ban a concerned user than all the riffraff. Although now that people have discovered the staff are making trolls posts themselves it makes sense.

The site's forum mods are next to useless when it comes to the troll infestation but if you say anything even remotely anti-trans they ban you immediately (even gay users who aren't happy with Trans). They allow racists, pedophiles, incest posts, threats of violence, people urging those feeling suicidal to 'do it', but you better not say anything that isn't glowingly positive about trans people.

It's full of troll posts and creeps, and ppl reply to ur posts/ vents with nasty comments or unhelpful criticism. There have only been a few times where i got good advice or ppl tried to help me and weren't trolls. But that is very. Rare. I wouldn't recommend this website to ppl but it's the most active vent website i know of, so when i'm desperate i do use it. Luckily there is an option to turn comments off.

I've been using this website for a while, probably for half a year now.

Let's start with the positive part:

-Muttr.com is a great place to vent and let go of your thoughts under the seal of anonymity. If you're a regular user of Muttr, you can create an account to keep your posts if you ever need them or if you were awaiting an advice.
-Advices! If you post something about your issues, there is often someone who will respond and provide you an advice or be proud of you if you made progress!
-Answers to your questions! You won't have as plenty answers as a specialised website tho.
-Friendship (?) with the regular members... Well, you can somehow chat with them in posts and well, sometimes it keeps going. You can be listened to and listen to someone.

Now, the negative aspects:
-Trolls, like any other website. You can just ignore them.
-Ads, lots of ads. It's recent, there wasn't ads before but just like trolls, you can ignore them

Tip for consumers:
Just ignore the trolls.

My experience with Muttr is that is just a hunting ground for super bigoted people to bully people without consequences. Not only is Muttr full of extremely gross posts, the users will go trolling on everyone else's posts just to spread hate.

Tip for consumers:
Don't

This website is just a meeting ring for pedophiles, trolls, homophobes, racists, and other disgusting people. If you need to vent do not go here, you will get told to kill yourself. Any disgusting thing you can think of is on muttr, and the moderators do not give TWO $#*!S. Aside from most people being extremely bigoted to any minority possible, there are also hundreds of posts about pedophilic thoughts and actions, incestuous situations and fantasies, rape threats and stories, murder and abuse, crime, and doxxing others. I had my full name, my parents full names, address, state, city, country, zip code, and highschool location leaked on here all because i tried to vent about my problems. BULL$#*!. I think the muttr motto "just be you" isnt very fitting, maybe "harass anything and everything for no specific reason" would be better fit.

Tip for consumers:
don't use this website unless you enjoy this stuff.

TL;DR it's a good website to vent in, but there's a very dark catch.

If your question is "does this platform serve its purpose", the answer is yes. It indeed lets you vent anonymously about anything you want, whatever the topic. I do recommend using it if anonymous venting is what you're looking for.
HOWEVER,
I do want to offer you a word of caution: First of all, everyone posts as they wish, whether you like it or not. If you browse certain categories or spend enough time on the front page without filtering them out, you may (and will) run into remarks that there's a risk you will find offensive or triggering. I believe some of them are trolling and some of them genuinely hold those worldviews. Reaction to them or lack thereof is entirely up to you.
Secondly, while posting, if you set your comment permissions such that everyone can reply, you should be aware that you grant this permission to the aforementioned problematic audiences as well, but I will add the extra warning that if you vent about another person in your life (especially if in 2nd person pronouns) there are some users that will reply to you as if it's them. If this happens please consider all possible scenarios and don't rush to assume it's actually the person your post is about, especially if they are being rude to you.

So, if you tend to get impacted by online strangers very easily I'd advise against using this website. But if you trust yourself not to take 100% of what others write there to heart, then definitely give it a chance

If you want a good website for being degraded debased and set upon by trolls this is the site for it. And apparently not only does the owner allow this but participates in it. And you at any given time can find rampant disgusting behavior that comes from zero responsibility for what you say. I DON"T RECOMMEND IT

Tip for consumers:
stay away

I've been using Muttr since about 2018 while searching for websites to vent on, and so I used it. I visit it from time to time when I need to release some of my stress, and I usually do it with comments disabled so that I can get things off my chest without people replying to it. Why do I disable comments? The website is filled with edgy people who say offensive things to get a reaction out of you. A good example of this would be maybe a year or so ago, there was a post about someone thinking about dying and someone just said "do it" over and over spamming their comment section which is disgusting. But despite all that, there are some genuinely nice people if you come on at a good time, people there can be really nice sometimes. So it's a website with a bad side to it and a good side to it, like most websites. But I'm giving it two stars because of those edgy people, it could genuinely cause harm to people talking about their life problems.

Apparently those who use the site then complain are trolling

Muttr is CLEAR about the circumstances.

To post the site is larceny is to do exactly what the accused are.

Be sensible, don't use if you don't agree to it.

I found Muttr a while ago, stopped using it, and came back recently. I enjoy simply having somewhere to vent and help other people! There are a lot of trolls, but laughing at them and cursing them out help to calm me down as well. I've personally never had someone tell me to kms, but I know many people have. If anybody ever tells you that, don't listen and just know they're probably just taking out their anger on other people which isn't ok. I suggest you turn off comments if you aren't comfortable with anyone bullying. There aren't any ads, and it helps me personally a lot!

It's a great place to vent. There are occassional trolls but overall if you just need to get it off your chest, it's a great place. It's like standing on top of a mountain and shouting away your problems. There might not be many replies or sometimes none at all but I feel better because I've gotten it off ny chest.

With the holidays upon us I really needed a place to vent my frustration with my family. I love them dearly but they can be so tone deaf and ridiculous and immature this time of the year. Thank you Muttr for allowing me to get this off my chest. I didnt even need an account and that was awesome. It made it so easy to use. I even got some great advice.

Muttr not only allows you to vent anonymous, but unlike many other websites, you are NOT required to sign up! Even if you do become a member, the sign up process is extremely quick, and you still have the option to either submit your muttr anonymously or through your username. I have been using muttr since 2010, I believe. It is DEFINITELY a great, recommended site!

I can't take the abuse these people have written to me anymore. So much that I'm never going back to this site. I'm deleting my account and everything. It's a toxic website. I have depression, anxiety issues, and self-hatred, but I'm trying to get better nowadays. I went on Muttr because I needed a way to vent. At first, it felt good, but then I got my comments. These people are cruel, and it wouldn't effect me because I know they're just being regular trolls, but in the moments of writing these vents, I was on the verge of many breakdowns. Most of the time I was in tears, and that is what I read after my heart starts racing that someone actually replied? Hell, I even just vented out something very personal of mine, and these two people just made me feel even worse that now I'm questioning my own intelligence. I know I'm smart, I got accepted into college, I'm working a full-time job, and these people just...

Don't go on here. Please, see a real therapist, or talk to your loved ones. People who know you, and know that you aren't stupid. Unlike these trolls. I'm just so $#*!ing done with this $#*!.

It's ok if you just want to vent on there and don't care about what others say but if you are looking for sound advice you won't get it. The constant trolling is annoying and quite depressing, the posts around self harm and commiting suicide are non stop, it's worrying the amount of kids that are using the site and there doesn't seem to be any moderators just one guy who runs it.

I started using muttr to vent about my depression and anxiety issues and in the end had to make another account due to bullying, not good if you going through a lot. I don't like the idea that some random can find my ip address either!

With more care it could be a great place to let off steam but the idiots rule I'm afraid.

Update: I have emailed the owner at least twice regarding the moderator issue and received no reply which is disappointing!

This site used to be great. It was not only a good way to vent your current issues, but also a way to feel connected to others who were sharing their issues, plus you could give advice or comments.

But it's absolutely ruined now. It's almost all trolls posting continual one-liners, people faking depression and even suicide attempts as jokes, and long rants which only pertain to others on the site.

It's full of trolls trying to out-do each other, with the occasional authentic vent lost somewhere in between, and no way to separate the two when viewing the site.

Muttr allows the user to speak freely and say whatever is on their mind, anonymously, and it feels great doing so! They even dare you to blurt out anything and everything!

The term, Twitter's Evil Twin seems to be catching on... and rightly so.

Muttr is straight to the point, simple, eye pleasing, and extremely easy to use. It will remain my choice for quite some time now! Trust me there's plenty of things I will always need to vent about lol. Just vent at Muttr.com :D

Due to the anonymous nature of the majority of posts and comments on the website, people who are going through a lot of psychological turmoil (which is specifically who this website is built for) are given the ability to bully others without consequence. Reported posts can disappear if a registered user steps in, but if those with suicidal depression see the comments before they're removed, their lives could be put in actual danger. Sadness and frustration and anger are all closely linked, and that often comes out of people by saying horrible, hateful things to others, so an anonymous website for people with depression is just a flawed concept to begin with. Personally, my sister recently died, and even before that, I've been suffering from depression for most my life. I made a short and simple post asking if anyone knew about child custody laws and within 20 minutes I was told by 3 different comments that someone wished I killed myself or died. Sure, they didn't know what all I was going through, but is this acceptable? Stay away.

Its only tolerable because its the only site out there that allows you to vent anonymously without registration.

HOWEVER, like many others mentioned before, it has a Troll and harrassment problem (especially towards certain users). The past months they allowed the pedophilia pologism, incel, misogynic troll to run rampant in their site much to a lot of peoples dismay. Said troll also was being harmful under others vents, bodyshaming, victimblaming them and overall being a degenerate. The mods LET THIS TROLL BE FOR MONTHS. However they IP BANNED me for getting angry with the comments of the troll in others vents. They deleted my vents too criticizing their incompetence in banning the ip of the troll and also deleted my comments that are non offensive and UNRELATED to the topic. Some even assumed they were probably the troll themselves but they got offended and instead think they deserved a ban for the speculation too.

Theres also some harrassment going on towards other users that arent even harmful or an $#*!. I experienced being threatened with suicide over there for being reasonable and they also told a user to kill themselves because they feel $#*! noone replied to their vents or they didnt hear the advice they want to hear instead. Then there is also another user being targeted and said to before that they deserved to be raped for lying about it for attention (which while $#*!ty, they know and acknowledged it then work better. Currently) and being called homophobic slurs.

The moderators are $#*!. Dont be fooled they only ban trolls since youll never know what posts get removed past the first pages and there are people there that do say the mods ban others if they dont simply like what they say.

The concept is wasted on moderators who let fire spread but cant take the heat

Tip for consumers:
Good for venting but dont expect the mods to take criticism well and dont hang out long to see the trolls online.

I like muttr but it doesn't have a thing to delete the posts you don't want to have, and people keep putting random faces on the posts you post, and I don't like it either, some people do because it is good to them but I don't really like it now, when I said "I am nice, I promise" people kept saying "you can't gilt people into committing suicide because your comments are uncomfortable to read" when you commented advice comments or are just trying to help those people out, maybe Muttr should be deleted (I don't mean to be rude but we don't need anymore social media in our lives) and people say things that aren't true and that being transgender is a disorder when you want to be a boy if your a girl and you know your a boy and it doesn't have a thing where we can change the name, our name either if we want to change it and I like it but don't like it at the same time and they say things that you don't do and they call you names for no reason and stuff like that and thats all <3

**EDIT**

**One girl on Muttr was doxxed. It was discovered she has multiple accounts posting from all of them to make the site look "busy". The owner and a handful of his friends are responsible for 95 percent of the Nazi, pedo, political posts. They are trolling their own site to make it look popular. Sad and funny at the same time. They can't even be losers correctly!**

I can't really talk to my husband about work because he says it bores him with the same complaints, so I decided to vent on this anonymous site and made the mistake of not disabling the comments. I was told to kill myself.
I decided to scroll through the site and there were numerous posts on people fantasizing about raping children, incest, people encouraging suicide, racist posts and one loser who posts the same stories over and over again. Don't get me started on the political posts. I am convinced that most of the people on this site are 12. It's really sad. Nazis seem to flock to this site like mad talking about gassing Jews. I won't be back.
