“A friend of mine had his his identity stolen and it...”

A friend of mine had his his identity stolen and it was a major pain for him to get everything set right again. It made me realize that I needed to invest a little time and money in monitoring my credit. I was referred to mycredithealth.com after I had Googled "free credit report" and I've been very happy with this site. There are not a ton of bells and whistles but it allows me to refresh my credit report and scores from all of the credit bureaus each month and I can track my progress over time which is kinda cool. I have already referred this site to several of my friends and family members.

“Watch out!”

Watch out! This "company" will quietly charge you $29.95 every month following your "free" credit report. I don't recall receiving any emails notifying me of my credit card charges, or of any of their services (what services?). You cannot cancel online -- you MUST call them to cancel. I consider their methods unethical and bordering on scam.

Beware, the service is expensive and when you decide not to renew services are cancelled immediately even if you have paid for the service for the month. Stay awasy from these takers.

Before signing up for MyCreditHealth, I was suspicious about this website, and its services. I tried to find info about it, specifically complaints if there were any. My search was inconclusive because I didn't find anything reliable, including the comments here. I couldn't be sure if these people were just talking nonsense, or if their complaints were legitimate. There were reviews like the one Michelle B had written that were very unclear. What exactly did she mean by canceling one account and not the other. Reviews like that are not very helpful, and it would be better if she would explain what is the correct way to cancel the account so you don't get charged. When you post unclear statements like that, you might as well post nothing at all, because at the end of the day, the readers will be more confused than they were before. At the same time, I couldn't be sure if the compliments were made by their own employees, or someone with a hidden agenda. I decided to try them out anyway, and have found them to be decent. They show you info from all 3 credit reports, and its information was very comprehensive. The most important thing was that I was able to cancel my membership without them giving me a hard time. I didn't have to be placed on hold forever, and their hours of operation are quite lengthy. This is a lot more than I can say about the level of bad service I got from Experian, or any of the other ones such as Transunion, and Equifax. It seems like they go out of their way to avoid their customers, and all they care about is money. I have canceled my account, but I will wait around and see if there is another mystery account that Michelle had mentioned. If there is, then I will be sure to post another message, hopefully one that is specific, unlike Michelle's.

Update: I called my credit card company and found out that there were some authorisations made on my card, in addition to MYCREDITHEALTH. The other company is known as ID Monitor. I called them, and they said they had no idea who I was and that I did not have an account with them, but at the same time, their authorisation was showing up on my credit card transactions. As of now, there are 6 separate $1 charges on my account from mycredithealth, and id monitor.

Beware of this site. They intentionally mislead you. Sign you up for mycredithealth and privacy matters (which you don't even realize maybe it is in the fine print). Then when you call to cancel within the 7 days of the trial, you only cancel 1 of the accounts and the other account will start charging you the 29.95. Then they refuse to give you a refund even if you didn't use the account.

Beware of this "FREE" service - This website intentionally misleads you to believe that you will receive your credit report for free. It asks for a credit card, to identify you, and states "your credit card WILL NOT be charged". Two weeks later, I was charged $29.95. When I called, they stated that after 7 days I will be charged $29.95 every month... when all I responded to was the offer for ONE free credit report.

They said the charges are outlined in their Terms & Conditions, which I never agreed to. The website does not make it clear that you are signing on for anything more than one report, that is delivered immediately. It does not require you to agree to, or even read any T's & C's, so unless you can find, and read a detailed document under an obscure tab, would you ever know that their FREE offer is a hoax.

In addition, I received a "thank you" email from them, thanking me for using their service. That email did not state anything about a trial period or indicate that my card would be charged at some future date, either. When I called customer service - they said "tough luck". I asked to speak to a supervisor - but they refused. And, there is no way to contact them thru their website - only via telephone, where their customer service is trained to TAKE money from unwitting customers.

Unless you need a service to access MANY credit reports for many different people, every single month, this is not for you! They present it as something an individual can use, check once, and then they sign you up for the monthly fee to be charged for all future months, even if you do not use the service after the first day.
STEER CLEAR OF THIS SCAM!
