Client that I worked for did chargeback and PPH said they cant pay me my earning because client did chargeback.
I never had such experience with other freelancing site
Freelancer works here with hope of earning - not being scammed.
Big sites like PPH must have legal teams and fianacial tie ups to cover all such problems. I has worst un-expected loss experience with PPH

Beware of fraudulent sites. I paid £45 for a service but was surprised to find that £58 was charged. Customer service is very bad. There was no response until after a week to resolve my issue with the Google Merchant Center. After more than a month, the problem has not been resolved. I requested a refund of the amount paid, but they refused. I did not receive the service and was scammed out of £58.
I have been a loyal freelancer with PeoplePerHour since 2016, have built up a good client base, and have 550+ 100% positive reviews.
I was approached by a new client in September asking me to translate his book into English. He was insistent that he only wanted to make one payment, so he paid the amount in full as a deposit at the start of the project. This money was held in an Escrow account for security while I was carrying out the work, so I haven't seen a penny of it, but I believed I was covered in case of a dispute. After being communicative for the first few weeks, my client was then unresponsive for eight weeks.
I submitted the finished book together with my invoice just before Christmas, and he finally responded stating that he required changes. He agreed to approve the invoice if I promised to make the amendments. I agreed and requested a list of the changes.
Once the invoice had been approved, the funds then went through a two-week clearing period (which according to PPH T&Cs should have been one week). The funds were cleared and available for withdrawal, but the following day PPH rejected my withdrawal, requesting further confirmation that the work was fully complete. They refused to release my funds of over £4,000 until the Buyer responded, despite my protests that the Buyer has not responded or even seen the messages on the workstream for the past three weeks. When I asked them for a timeframe for how long they would hold the funds, they couldn't tell me and just insisted that the Buyer must respond. What if the Buyer never responds?! Do they expect to hold on to my money indefinitely? As far as he's concerned, he's paid the money and doesn't owe anything! I understand that they have to protect Buyers, but what about Freelancers? According to their T&Cs, if a Buyer doesn't respond to an invoice, then PPH can automatically release funds from Escrow after seven days, yet they can't release money that has already been approved by the Buyer?!
I am now being told that they are allowing the Buyer three months to respond, and after that they will re-evaluate, so there's not even any guarantee that I will receive my money after three months! Where is the justification in that?! Please bear in mind that it already took me nearly four months to complete the work without seeing a penny!
It looks as though PPH have already deducted their £423 of fees and no doubt they'll be making interest on my money for as long as they can hold on to it!
If I had known that it was going to come to this, I would never have taken on this project. I will certainly never be taking on any more large projects through PeoplePerHour ever again, as there is no guarantee I will get paid. There is no real support whatsoever for freelancers on this site. I wouldn't be surprised if they started taking admin fees off the amount currently sitting in my PPH account, as funds are not meant to be held in there for more than 30 days.
I can't afford to lose this money, so I will be pursuing this further. Having seen that others are having similar issues does make me question PeoplePerHour's practices.
Last month I hired a freelancer for some SEO work. After searching heavily I found one with a 5.0 rating, which is the highest in their system. The work was of no quality and was a total mess. When I submit my feedback, as per their system, my review doesn't appear until the freelancer adds her review.
So, if the freelancer doesn't do that, my honest review will never appear and there is no way another buyer knowing about her work. Probably, this is how she got the highest rating.
Tip for consumers:
Don't trust PeoplePerHour rating system. It's a heaven for bad freelancers.

There are two huge problem with remote freelancing sites, and this one is no exception: Scams, scams, scams, scams, scams. Unvetted job posts lead to scam after scam, most of which are obvious (little-to-no detail, crazy overpayment for simple tasks, bad grammar, etc), some are a little more clever, which I assume are just job descriptions lifted from elsewhere, then they start asking you for weird info and redirect you to other sites.
And of course there's the other thing: The pay. If you live in the United States, or Europe, or Australia, or any similar nation, you're going to find most of the work is underpaid because there are 100,000 people from Kenya or India or Pakistan willing to do 10 hours of work for $41. That is a literal real example that I pulled. It is SUCH a waste of time.

FRAUD website. I worked on ORM for client for 4 weeks and peopleperhoursent refund to client without any acknowledgements.
2) Beware of the questionable practices on PPH. I spent four weeks working on an ORM project for a client, only for the website to refund the client automatically – without any acknowledgement or consultation.
4) Besides, support can take things personally. Esp lady named SOPHIE. She can send refund and delete your gigs only because you rated her ticket with 1 star,
3) To make matters worse, they later claimed that ORM services are no longer allowed.
Their approach to auto-refunding is devoid of transparency, akin to Fiverr, and raises concerns regarding the trustworthiness of the platform. ***Proceed with caution!

There are few genuine freelancers out there, but most of them fake 'experts' they show others' work as their own but when you get the job done it'll be sub-standard quality.
I suggest you only work with a high rating freelancer (Top 1% or so).
PPH customer service is very poor, if you file a dispute they ask you to work directly with a freelancer, but still charge 10% commission from you for doing nothing.
I have a deposit on peopleperhour.com, but I cannot get it back to my account because they require me to submit my PayPal account in their system. The problem is that they changed the answer to my security question (I guess there was a bug with their system or they did that intentionally because my friends also got this problem), so I'm not able to update anything in my account.
This is a robber company. They have my PayPal account in their system and give me an excuse that they need me to submit my PayPal account on their payment page. I also worked as a customer representative many years ago. I know you can always send money to customers' accounts without a problem. Anyway, their policy is the bible and we all need to follow it no matter how unreasonable it is.
Do you know how long I got a genuine reply since I contacted them for the first time? Almost 5 months. They keep closing my ticket or sending me rubbish templates. I finally got a real person to talk with this month when I said I would report them to BBB. They are so insolent. When I talk to a real person, the agent keeps blaming me that I forgot the answer or I have someone changed my security question. That's impossible. I'm not a fool. I wrote down the answers when I set them at the very beginning and I never shared my account with anyone else. This is not a problem only happening to me, but they think it's my responsibility.
They asked me to give them my ID information to get my money back and I refused. This is ridiculous. They hold my money and ask me to sell my privacy to get back the money that belongs to me. To be honest, I don't want to offer any personal information because I don't trust their system and the ethics of their company.
Besides, they said they needed my ID information to match my identity with the name set on my PPH profile, and then they would be able to reset the security question for me. I told them this wouldn't work because the name of my account is not my real name (they didn't require a real name for a buyer's account when I registered my account). There are so many other ways to confirm that I'm the owner of my account, but they choose a completely ineffective one.
In a word, Peopleperhour is an unethical and dishonest company. If you are not scammed up to now, you are lucky. If you have any problem, you won't get real help until you are really angry with them and you decide to report them. Avoid using Peopleperhour!
To be honest the 14 days payment process is still a headache. But I manage to reduce it to 7 days in 3 months.
Another issue some freelancers are annoying and have no experience. Which let all of these clients leave a bad review. On here and out there.
Im Top rating freelancer one of the 1% high ratings.
Expert in 3d designer for a long time. My profile and positive feedback are growing. pph.me/Amer.K

This company based in England (they say) is a directory of people from India, Pakistan, Iraq, Iran, Somalia and all those countries where you can hardly claim the service you buy for your money.
Anyone can subscribe saying that they are "Astronaut" and there you will see it listed... very low level in general and the platform service is poor. If you want to get scammed this is the right place.
They are going to rob you without a doubt, but before it will be later, I do not recommend it.
I purchased by spending 10 dollars. But the Freelancer just read my workstream and didn't replied. Also, contacted the customer service using email. First time, they replied genuinely. But after knowing that I was scammed by their freelancer, they also stopped replying from support team.
The Freelancer act like she don't know about the order. Even I sent purchase screenshot to her.
Check screenshots for proof.

One of the worst experiences in my life... they ask me three times to explain the problem again and they do it every two months.
I didn't get the job I ordered; the money I paid 6 months ago has not been returned to me yet and it seems that I will probably never get it...don't screw yourself up, choose any other freelancer site, just don't choose this one.
I paid £100 for a logo so it could be fast tracked as needed it within a day. The logo was the poorest of quality and looked like it had been made with Microsoft pait. I requested a refund from PPH who declined and said it does not fall within their policy. Be aware, you are not protected and if not happy with the work you have to pay for nothing!
I was using their platform as a designer from actually the start of when they started. I even knew people that worked there. I find their process deceptive. The jobs on their are so low quality. While they are a uk site, it is not uk friendly and they heavily modify reviews which you leave about your experience on trust pilot. The fees they charge are too high. What are they actually doing with that money? Oh yeah they have their adminstrators take down genuine user ecpereiences of their shoddy site.

PeoplePerHour, now having a new 14-day payment policy, has come to be an outright scamming platform. Don't even touch. You're not only not going to receive your hard-earned money on time (forget it) but you'll end up PAYING money to withdraw your earnings. Customer/Freelance Support? Ha! Forget it. They just ignore your requests. You best stay away. Questions? Just touch base and I'll be so glad to share more stories about PeoplePerHour. (Also check a ridiculous payment clearing policy PPH has introduced recently.)
They are a very bad company, avoid them at every cost, due to my paying $ 1 for feature profile service there were able to have access to my card number and without my permission took $ 50 and still claimed I made the purchase, firstly be money was removed around 00:16 on a Saturday and during this time I did not even visit the website nor buy anything, I did not even get any notification. Not only that I have been trying to contact them through email and they have been ignoring me.
I signed up to have an extra source of clients if necessary. I was too busy with other projects from Upwork to apply for any jobs on there before the qualifying period was up. What's the point in trying to maintain a high quality base of professionals if you make it awkward for actual professionals who happen to be busy on other jobs?
I see they now have the option to extend the qualifying period. Still, why judge quality based on time factors instead of job performance and client feedback? These time limits don't make sense. It's not a logical system and it puts me off using them in future. What other nonsensical features/hassle might I discover at a later date?

I have tried 10 different projects from PPH and every single one of them was a scam. Some asked for my banking information, one sent me a fake W4 page and thankfully I did not comply. They were pretending to be a company that truly exists and California. I am frustrated and disappointed.
My first time working via PPH. My employer paid me weeks ago via the website and when I tried to withdraw, they simply haven't yet made any transfer. AVOID THIS SERVICE!
The process of "vetting" prospective professionals is fully automated. It is a lie that they require samples (I know because I couldn't attach mine because of a rather idiotic system they got, only asserting it from some sites) he only "problem" they consistently point out is that your LOCATION doesn't match the one you put on your application. Ever heard of travelling, guys? Honest to god. I am a writer, not a local butcher shop - I an write from anywhere on the planet, and as it happens I will be in an entirely different part of the globe quite soon. Then what? You will shut me down because the location doesn't match. Ridiculous! Anyway, even when I tried to "correct" it to match my current location, it kept returning to default and I ended up being declined anyway. Good! This is another PIA site with 100 idiotic tech conundrums and 0 support, so suppose you got a billing problem etc - I am quite sure you'd be on your own too. I hope people abandon all of these blood suckers altogether soon - they have out together a badly thought out site once and just keep collecting all of the commissions for someone else's work while doing 0 to make it a good experience for the same people who make them all the money.
It's gone really downhill in the last few years. What I often see is people pretending to be UK Professionals when infact they are from 3rd world countries with lots of fake glowing reviews. You can even buy fake reviews on there, which kinds speaks for itself really. They work some advertise is often not their own. Ive even had my own work examples stolen and used by other people. There are some genuine pros on there, but it's a maze of who is real and who is not
This is by far the worst website for any freelancer. Highly unprofessional and over complicated. They do not deserve to have a platform for freelancers and they should be banned from doing so. They constantly reject your description when you attempt to post an offer or your services. I updated my description about 10 times and it was never approved. Thus, I deleted my account within 24 hours. They are horrible and should be shut down permanently without the benefit of restoration. They deserve the one star I gave them.
