“Pay Attention To Parking Signs For This Company”

Phyllis C.
12/4/17

I took a daughter to attend her business with Buncombe County Social Service Dept and there was no parking available on the street out front. There was a parking lot to the side of building, that she said was where her boyfriend always parked and directed me into it. I parked the vehicle and we went in to attend what she had to do. We came out to find a parking ticket on my windshield. I saw no coin operated meters and since I did not know why the ticket was given, I called the number on the ticket. First off the woman was ruid, Telling me their were signs in place. I got out my vehicle and was looking but still did not see them. She said they were about middle ways of the lot. I finally found the signs. That said you must download a app and pay for parking on line which was $5.00. When asked how long I would have to pay the fine, she said one week. Or I would have to pay additional fees after the first week of $10.00 plus ticket, after second week a fee of $35.00 plus ticket. I feel Buncombe County or the City of Asheville, should not allow this to happen to their citizens. First off I have never been to that side of Asheville and did not know of charged parking. It is my first and only parking violation ever received. I would assume people go to their local Social Service Office due to needing some form of help. The county should provide ample parking. In the county system they also provide ample time to pay fines. This company gives you no time to pay. Not to mention not all people can afford smart/data phones. I will never park in one of their lots again for anything as I now know what to look for. Same with any events, I work hard and my money will be kept in my pocket. I will avoid any events, they are involved with. Maybe if the locals did the same, They would see how it affects the business across Buncombe County, cause they just lost mine. I paid their demands of the fine on line but I can and will drive elsewhere to do business from this point on.
