I've been sewing for sixty years, on top notch machines. I treated myself to a Sailrite for my dream of starting a commercial business. I can't say enough good things about her. Videos and customer service and all the other perks just add to the joy of ownership. Twenty-first century innovation + legacy craftsmanship. One of my sons hopes to some day buy a sailboat, learn to sail, and take on the Northwest passage. I'll loan it to him... but I'd have to come along.
A sewing customer came to needing the zippers in her UTV soft top replace. I accidentally got the wrong thing. It cost me postage twice. Then between my ordering the first time and returning the products, some jerk stole my credit card information. This outfit issued me a gift certificate for the money I spent no including the postage both ways instead of giving me my money back. So, if you order anything from this business make absolutely sure that you are getting the right thing as you will most likely not get your money back and you surely will not be compensated for your postage to & from them. I definitely would not recommend this business to anyone.

I wish I could say good things about our LZ1 but I can't.
We have owned it for 4 years and have spent 3timrs as much have time fighting with it as sewing with it. I've sewen for over 55 years and this is the most frustrating machine I have ever used hands down. Sailrite support is of little help.they tell you to take a few pictures and then tell you to watch their videos. Iv watched them multiple times making over 100 separate adjustments over the years and nothing gets better. Iv even put the needle on backwards twice and it sews about as well that way.
This review if from a person that really wants and needs this machine to work as we are on a sailboat and constantly have things to repair...I just dread getting this thing out anymore as I know it's going to ruin my day and stress our marriage.
Trying to sell it off a boat is not an easy task either...I'd about have to give it away and eat the 1500.00 because I'd be honest about how crappy it sews.
Sailrite should do the right thing and replace this lemon at their hipping expense.because if others are not having these issues then there defintly something wrong with this one.
I sure do wish I had bought a different walking foot brand.
Sailrite has great how too videos and other products.but I'd stear clear of their sewing machines. Sailrite cloned a Thompson machine and I wish I had one of those old machines instead.
It's gotten to the point that if we have sail repairs to make we wait till we can rent a hotel for a couple days just because we know we are going to be totally frustrated and we need the AC and abundant shower water AND access to a good bar and resturant to not kill each other fighting this dang thing.
I received my order but was short one item. I received the plastic bag with the item was supposed to be in but nothing in the bag. Sailrite was quick to respond to my request for a replacement and there was no hassle getting the replacement item. All my other orders were received promptly and I am excited to start using their equipment.
Tip for consumers:
Company is very easy to work with. Their equipment and tools are very good.

We are getting back to an old hobby/business again, not ready to buy a button machine just yet, your self made button kit did the job for us! Sailrite's been the best pricing & fastest all around on ordering and shipping so far! Thank you!
Tip for consumers:
very user friendly, I would think from beginners to pro's, nice variety, great pricing and service

Excellent customer service and high quality products. They also have the very best instructional video tutorials; very detailed and easy to follow. I was able to assemble my new machine with no issues. Thank you!
Tip for consumers:
They have lots of great Youtube tutorial videos

The basting tape worked great sticking to the fabric, but when sewing the zipper in place, my needle kept getting gunked up with the glue. I would have to stop multiple times and clean my needle with a solvent.
Products used:

I have purchased a lot of equipment and materials from Sailrite over the past 4 months. A couple SMALL issues with a machine I purchased but their support was FANTASTIC and they got me out the replacement parts very quickly. They have been very good about answering questions and filling orders (calling to verify if multiple run lengths of material will work), and their how to videos are awesome. I had ZERO experience prior to tackling this project, and the carpets and enclosure turned out fantastic.
I order a stack pack sail cover kit from them, in the kit it was missing the one inch webbing. I emailed them and they started a claim, but then nothing happened. Emailed again and no response. It's not an expensive item I'm missing, so I just bought locally what I need, but the lack of customer service disappointing.

Felt I had no alternative but to order the correct products from them but I will never do it again.
I have not installed the motor yet, but have assembled the table. Looks sturdy but its under side is not sanded, it's raw plywood, I managed to get a couple of splinters in my hand. I think this will make sewing easier though, so fingers crossed.
I do sewing alterations for customers, and I'm so glad I purchased a Sailrite sewing machine. I never know what the next alteration challenge will be; from altering a race car driver's suit to motorcycle jackets. The Sailrite glides through the thickness with beautiful stitches making me look good.
Recently I hemmed several pair of men's denim jeans. Sewing through the two-four fold welt seams on each cuff came out perfect! After a bad experience trying to get the proper threads for my machine locally, I buy ALL important stuff from Sailrite.
If you happen to make a mistake on your order... forget it. No way to change online or by calling the company.
All I wanted to do was change order, but was told no, had to order twice at $75 extra shipping fee only to see that both orders went out at exactly the same time. You got my money once but why twice... never again and web site looks like such a personal CO.
Have not had much chance to test drive but did do 3/8" thick webbing stack hand cranking monster wheel... piece of cake, initial impressions very favourable. Ruggedness of machine reminds me of Piper Pawnee aircraft I fly to tow gliders... yes, they are both built like tractors! Two parcels making up order came extremely well packed. UPS experience was interesting... Company seems to have an amazing air carrier element and ability to pick up parcels from suppliers but, due to Covid 19 and resulting high customer demand, delivery end is clogged. Received about 20 status e mails from UPS, with changes to delivery dates.
I ordered some Press-N-Snap replacement parts (a very small order) in August 2022. I used the Sailrite website and received an order confirmation. Several days later, I sent a follow-up email and asked where my order was. I received one email from Sailrite, but never heard anything back about the status of the order. Several months later, I emailed Sailrite again and asked where my order was. This time they did some research and said since it was past 120 days, they could not send me a replacement order. This was particularly upsetting, since I HAD contacted them during the 120 days, but never heard anything back. This was just a small, first-time order, but the way it was handled was extremely unprofessional. There is no way I will ever do business with this company again.
Tip for consumers:
You might be better off calling in your order than using the Sailrite website.

Never received my order.
I have had good luck with sailrite in the past. This time i ordered some fabric and once received decided it would no longer work. I got approval to return, but the return shipping costs were almost as much as the fabric. I know corporate shipping rates are much cheaper then individual shipping rates. Suggested to customer service that they allow free returns with their shipping costs deducted from the return amount which would be significantly less expensive then an individual have to pay upfront out of pocket inflated shipping charges
I ordered a substantial amount of materials and an Ultrafeed LSZ-1 thinking that I would receive the materials in several weeks due to the supply chain issues. To my surprise, everything was delivered within one week of ordering! Great service and timely delivery!

Received my order rather quickly with over 20 ordered swatches. The only problem with the order was that some of the swatch name stickers fell off and I cant identify some of the colors. Cant use the website to try to guess because the swatches are all a mix of the same basic colors. Grays and tans. Hoping that the back of samples will give me a better idea of the type of vinyl for my hull liner. Didnt really want to go through this trouble when you purchase each sample.
I received the chalk markers but one of them was broken into pieces during shipment. It would have helped if such a fragile product were wrapped in bubble wrap before shipping.
Purchased a small anchor riding sail kit - not only did it come with great directions and step-by step directions via video on YouTube- but also ideas how and why to rig it! Haven't seen one out in the wild - looking forward to using mine this year

Shipment has been 17 days out with USPS first class mail. Last tracking was almost two weeks ago from 4 hrs away by highway. Nothing since. I have communicated several times with them but it is obviously lost. Bad customer service. Will never do business with the again. I have started a PayPal dispute. I needed the parts and ordered from a different vendor from further away and have already received my parts.
We are sorry to learn that your package has not yet delivered. Our customer service team does their best to work with carriers to determine where and why packages get held up, but sometimes we aren’t able to gather much information due to the carrier’s backlog. Your package has not been determined to be lost, just delayed. We ask our customers to be patient so that any replacement packages don’t suffer a similar fate and further add to the package backlog.
I have tried to purchase similar sewing machines from different suppliers. Some of them have never replied to my email some of them I have ordered, payed and it never came. Finally Sailrite delivered the machine and customer service was amazing, always ready to help. Machine works perfectly.

I started my upholstery business last June. Since then, I've called Sailrite with questions about their products, and they've been an amazing source of help. They know this products well, and will make sure you get the answers you need! I own the long nose staple gun, which is fantastic quality, and order their supplies regularly. They have a wealth of knowledge about boat and residential upholstery, and share that in their well explained You tube videos. Thank you, Sailrite for what you bring to the industry!
Apparently, they have forgotten about my order. First time I order from Sailrite. I place my order May 8th by 6:00pm, which placed my order for the next day, May9th, as of today May 25 I don't even have a tracking number. Plus they closed from Friday to Monday due to memorial weekend. Keep in mind that they charge me 48.63 for 8 products almost 5 dollars extra per products. I have contracted them twice and the excuse is the Covid-19 situation. This order may take a month to be delivered? I'm very disappointed.
I did just locate your order (not forgotten) and we are likely to your date of orders for shipping tomorrow. The issue is that with the Covid situation is seems everyone is sewing from home. We can only ship so many orders on a daily basis. We have ramped up as much as we can and our employees are working tons of overtime. But for this weekend we decided to let them take the full three days off to keep their sanity. Please let me know right away if you no longer want the order. I am so sorry for the delay. matt@sailrite.com
I ordered fabric samples since computer pictures can vary from actual product colors.
I am glad I did so as one of the colors was not anything like the picture. I chose to send the samples by regular first class mail and it took almost 2 weeks (13 days) to reach my destination. The quality of fabric looks good and I do intend to order from Sailrite. Hopefully, it will get here quicker than the samples.
Between Sailrite's videos and easy to order products (they tell you exactly what you need), I successfully made two Roman Shades for our sliding patio doors. The final product looks wonderful, and I ordered more materials for a few other shades I will be making.

Hi Brent, I will need the order number(s) to look into this for you but I wanted to clarify our process. We do change and add to orders all the time. But if an order is already in the picked or shipped stage our customer service people cannot make changes to that order since it is already through the warehouse. When this happens and a second order is then placed on the same day it does appear that both shipped at the same time since they will be picked up by the FedEx truck on the same day. So the point in time of not being able to change an order is once it is picked in the warehouse. Prior to that we can alter the order in any number of ways. I hope this makes sense. Best Regards, Matt Grant with Sailrite
