For the biggest portion of SBA, I know they are very helpful in helping people establish and run different small businesses. They help you with loans and different issues that you might have with your business. My issue today Iwith them, is that the website is not working that you can apply for the application of the covid-19. It Will not allow you to get past the first page it's it's just locked and that's my only issue with SBA
1) They don't respond to emails. 2) CSRs via phone give different answers to the exact same question as well as wrong advice. Some are downright rude. 3) Spent 8 months trying to get one application cancelled to be superseded by another with different information and after 30 calls and 10 emails, nothing way resolved. 4) I emailed all information they requested multiple times, yet they still send letters through the mail asking for the same exact info. Absolutely incompetent at every level compared lending from an actual financial institution. Additionally, their they use census tract maps in determining poverty locations, which are extremely inaccurate, lumping in rich areas with poor ones. You could be denied a grant only to have the business access the street get $10k. Absolutely ridiculous. They simply need to be shut down.

The SBA needs to do more training. You have businesses that suffered badly during covid and have still not managed to get back to where things were. The staff members here are horrible and have horrible customer service. The supervisors never return calls emails which is worse. I looking into who I can speak with about this because how you you have companies waiting over 2 months.
The purpose of getting a SBA loan is to pay off debt owed during Covid, however they deny you based on a credit score. Being a U. S citizen that pay taxes, it amazes me that they would give it to people who has a fraudulent business and use the monies for inappropriate purchases. I have applied twice and denied, this loan is not for people who have a bad credit score but for people who commit fraud.
I have sought advice from our local SBA in Clarion County, Pennsylvania on at least four separate occasions between 2006-2020, and I have yet to make any REAL progress in improving my business skills. The specialty of the SBA is their free, introductory workshop, which I have taken twice. After Christmas of 2019, I was ghosted by my "advisor" and now I am on my own again. The SBA is of no help! Embarrassingly disorganized and inefficient!
Just because you're a government-based organization doesn't mean you don't have to provide customer service and answer questions by customers who need some more in-depth information. If you were an independently owned company, you would be out of business. I've never, ever experienced such rude pieces of garbage in my entire life.

Only call this organization if you were absolutely desperate and willing to be talked to like you are a second class citizen.
I have an SBA loan but let me tell you, if we ran our business in the same fashion as the SBA does, we would be out of business. There is absolutely no efficiency what-so-ever; reaching any one on the telephone is near impossible and getting a statement is equally difficult. Unless you have a LOT of time to waste and infinite patience I would not and will not ever deal with them again.
Applied for the SBA loan and was granted. At the time, interest rates were going to be 1% but changed to 3.75% which is not that great, just ok. Which is higher than current mortgage rates. Loan term 30 years. Loan amount 27,300 with a payment of 134.00 a month. Payments for me are not due yet however, as most already know. You can highly reduce the loan term buy starting to make payments now. Even though my payments are not due yet. I sent in one regular payment and one for principal only. Interest is based on principal amount of the loan. Come to find out, this isn't doable. All payments go to interest first. The SBA loan may still be a good option for some that are credit strapped. For me and others in similar situations. It would have been better if I refinanced with a home equity loan at 3.25% same loan duration and and home refinance, one can make payments on principal only as long as payments are current. In my honest opinion, for it to be a Covid 19 disaster relief loan" it should be at least as what is available on the open market, but it's not. Run your numbers before considering this route
They give loans to either non-citizens or people that don't work hard! They denied me and tried to say that they could not confirm that I lost 30% income because of COVID-19! That is a bold face lie! I made $90,000 in 2019 and years before as a business owner. In 2020 because my income is based on small to medium businesses I made $20,000 in 2020! They still denied me! A bunch of crap and you wonder why the United States is where we are unless you aren't a legal citizen
Since the new administration in Washington "revamped" the guidelines helping businesses in the US is a joke you send them EVERYTHING they ask for and request only to be to told we don't have it or we didn't receive it, send it to this email or that email. Let's not mention the over an hour hold time just to speak with someone who is totally clueless and unhelpful I WAS a blue voter and ready thought we as a nation would have better access but it's ALL a joke and next week we will see advertisements saying "over a billion left" from the sba funds so American business are on track to rebounding but the truth is we can't get the funds. Sadly

Even for Government Employees this agency stands out, their ineptitude is only exceeded by their sense of ignorance and petty power.

I had a wonderful experience. Turnaround time was fast. Input my information allow them to request a transcript from the IRS and then a week later I was approved and then five days later a deposit was made into my account. If you have a legit business and the required documentation you will be fine
It's pretty sad that I was denied for my loan, yet they'll fund scammers ALLLL Over the world yet someone with a verifiable business is denied! They've exhausted funds because for another year in a row they allowed scammers to get funded! Wow! That says a lot about their verification system and lack thereof!
Absolutely terrible customer service. Rules arn't clearly stated. When calling to ask for clarification and assistance understanding contracts, they become very defensive and eventually will hang up on you. Don't even bother.
I reached out to SBA on 11/11/21 and got an answer three and a half months later.
Unfortunately that answer was totally next to the question.
I answered immediately rectifying their wrong assumptions and just received a second email going further on their first response.
A total waste of taxes!
In the middle of a global pandemic, the SBA has denied my company's loan / "grant" - lol due to a low credit score. Congress passed into law that ALL small business would receive a grant of 10,000. The SBA then violated the new law by changing the rules to 1000 per employee. Then after waiting MONTHS for an answer from the SBA, we were issued a denial letter because of a few late credit card payments from over four years ago... Funny how the SBA can defy congress and nothing is said, meanwhile people are going out of business.

Someone applied with my SSN for a loan I reported to SBA and other agencies and they did cancel the fake application active mine through customer service apparently because I called again and that customer hostile representative never did. Customer service look like they ar untrainned properly and with a sense of power over callers

My mom passed away and I relocated to GA. The laziest place in earth and even the the mentors up north sent my case down they still haven't helped me after numerous emails from them... countless phone calls from me, countless answering machines to leave messages that don't get returned,, and my business had been sitting for months due to not knowing what my next step is even though I was told I would be walked through it... Don't lie. Just say that you won't help even though you are funded through the government for people like me. Just say I'm gonna have to find someone to pay. But don't ignore me. Anyway. That's all I'm sure I'm not the only one with broken promises from them... SMDH

They'll put you through a process of applications and interviews and you won't hear anything back from them. You won't even know if an application has been approved or denied, it's that ridiculous. I have a small business and they have done absolutely nothing to help us.
Pamela Sutherland, the employee who was assigned to my case, has been unbelievably rude and condescending. I had to bite my tongue so hard during our last conversation to not put her back in her place. I don't know who she thinks she is, but I am done dealing with her. Other employees have been very pleasant. Additionally, throughout multiple weeks of communication, she failed to communicate some crucial contingencies of my disaster relief loans which would have been dismissing factors and saved me weeks of unnecessary paperwork. Of course she refused to admit to any wrongdoing, falsely claimed that these contingencies had been discussed, and continued to be rude and condescending. This woman is incompetent and needs to be fired. I filed a complaint against her but I'm not holding hope anything will be done about it.
My business was approved for targeted and supplemental in August 2021, I had a bank return in September 2021 needless to say I'm still waiting for the funds to be reissued they received all the correct info in September. How is it December 2021 and still not funded and don't have a funding date. This Organization is horrible how or shall I say when will they help small Black Businesses like they say they are here to do? SBA has to do better. Businesses are failing meanwhile csr are saying I don't know that's the only thing that this organization has been consistent with I Don't Know ….
All the bills and debt ive paid over the years showing proof i am able to pay (i have good credit and a high paying job) but you deny me in a time of natural disaster because i didnt have a tax form from 2019, $#*! you, $#*!ing $#*! you. $#*! YOU!
It is my opinion.it is far from providing the service for which it was created.
