Our loan was sold to SPS as we began the short sale process (kept the house for years after a job relocation but couldn't keep renting due to non-paying renters). They refused to accept the first lien offer even after the negotiator told them they were offered twice what the first lienholder typically offers. When they finally did acquiesce, many, many months had passed so the appraisal had expired. This resulted in the buyer walking and then having to restart the whole process again. When again presented with the same offer (because, again, the first lienholder only offers a certain amount), they again took a very long time to agree to the terms. When they denied the first offer, I received a phone call from a rep from SPS asking if they had permission to contact me at that number. I replied, "I guess so, since you just called it." The rep asked what our plans were for the home since the offer was denied. I replied that we would have to relist the house and hope to get an offer to avoid foreclosure. At no time was it discussed for us to get a personal loan to try to repay them some of the money that we rightfully owed them. They then sent a letter to our realtor asking us if we'd consider a personal loan to repay them. Follow-up questions from our realtor garnered no response.

Tip for consumers:
If your loan gets sold to SPS, try to refinance if possible. If you're going through a short sale, find a very knowledgeable negotiator (if it's a second lien) to assist in the process.

I previously wrote review on Select Portfolio... and I researched... This company has so many complaints at the BBB and are not accredit by them... Same complaints I have with others. The company does also have pending lawsuits... What did Bank of America and Chase get us in to with selling people loans to a company that is unethical..

This review is long but i ask you yo read it and then google the reviews. See for yourself and avoid SPS.
This is the worst company I have ever had to deal with.
The nightmare started about April 2017. We had a mortgage with Chase and they sent a letter saying SPS was taking our loan starting July 1,2017. Continue paying Chase through June, they stated if a check was sent and it was later than june then Chase would forward it we always walked in local bank so no problem with paying. We decided to sell a rental property and pay off in June before it changed. We closed escrow on June 29, I ask escrow to do a pay off Chase loan, she wrote check to Chase and I drove check to Chase and sit down in booth while I gave the escrow papers and check for final payment.
I sat in booth while employee called to do wire transfer to pay Chase. After about 30 minutes it was finalized and I ask when was it paid off. She stated next morning.
I took escrow papers and went home.
I did not hear from anyone until Sept 28,90 days later 2 men came with foreclosure papers. I told them it was a mistske, I pd Chase before it went to SPS.
I drove to local Chase and they couldn't figure out where money was. They started internal review. I called escrow and ask for front and back of check which I received copy and they faxed a copy to SPS.
Still they refused to accept that I pd Chase off in June. I drove to Chase and spoke to same person that took the check. She showed me internal emails from supervisors stating I had pd, where was the money, gind it. At that point, they gave me a check for the $85,000.00 which would have pd it in June but now it's Sept and I have same amount of money but late payments and fees. We wired the $85,000.00 but Thry said we owed $3000. 00 to stop foreclosure. That covered late fees and oenalties. We pd that, we thought with the check and extra $3000. 00 would pay it off but we received a letter stating we owed another $4000. 00. So my husband decided to pay it, I said not unless it's in writing to pay off. They hung up on him.
On our statement they took $*******. 00 out of $85,000.00 we don't know why and put $70.000.00 in unapplied account. They didnt apply money and kept charging fees.
I called again and now they applied the $70,000.00 but wanted $7,000.00 more. I filed complaints with the banks over site in government. They had to respond in 2 weeks, Chase did, said we received complaint. SPS didn't even do that. I called the gov and they said it was required to answer.
I called SPS and got a payoff letter for 4000. 00 due Nov 15 bug the man told me yo pay early, they dint post money on Fri, Sat of Sundays. The office was in Salt lake City so we had to be at the bank or their cutoff was at noon to post. We wired money nov 8th due to holiday on 11th. I called to see if it was paid, No it wasnt because on Nov 8 they decided to pay our property taxes.so we were short on payoff. This was a lie because we went to county tax office and it wasnt paid. We called for new payoff letter and finally Thry said the payoff went down approx to $4200. 00 +/-. Until Nov 29 at noon. We went to our Bank of America and was there with letter, tax paper and insurance. The wire went through about 5 minutes late but we still had 1 day so it should be ok.
I called that night, the money was there, it was correct amount but unapplied. We also had a $1700. 00 credit unapplied.
I called next day, it was applied and zero balance. The extra $1700. 00 was gone, didn't know where. Now they are checking to see if we owed any amount fior any reason to charge more money.
I kept letters and wrote detailed notes with full names, time of call and what was said. I also started recording and ask for transcripts of their recordings.
I will file with the FBI and Dept of Justice. They have already closed 1 office my understanding due to fraud.
I do not know if this is paid to their satisfaction. We have spent 3 months and it's been a nightmare. I have been advised to make sure to get clear title, they give you 1 w SPS still owners. Also check the 1098 for taxes.
If I had to do this over I would have borrowed the money immediately at 1st letter and not be involved with this SPS. I do not trust them and hope to get help with the class action law suit I have entered into.
