“Best Company”

James T.
11/22/22

They arrived precisely at 8 am. They packed everything for me. And moved my whole downstairs into a storage unit. It was just unbelievable. My furniture was filthy with demolition dust, and I did not hear any complaints or wasn't asked to pay extra. These guys were heaven-sent. They took excellent care of everything. The greatest thing is their pricing for what you get. If you ever need movers, I highly recommend them.

“Terrible Customer Service”

Buyer beware don't use this moving company They are broker out the broker takes your money, and then forgets about you, and then you are left in the transporters hands the underbid my project by 58% of the cubic square footage and double the price upon arrival the actual two individuals that showed up were great workers but unfortunately they work for a very poor company. The person in charge of transportation doesn't even listen to you when you're talking to them and trying to explain what's going on and states all kinds of BS to back them, trying to rip you off. The broker was based out of Florida. I don't know where the transporter was located but the paperwork is titled Allied transportation and that used to be a reputable company so I don't know what the heck happened to them after the drivers arrived I tried to contact the broker and my phone says that the person you trying to call is not reachable another words once they get your money you're cut off from the broker so you're only form of contact is now the transportation team the broker was told from the very beginning that I was only paying by credit card of which they charge me 3.9% to use my credit card and took my deposit the transportation team only takes cashiers checks money orders it was a terrible day and because of that I'm now not going to be with my family for Christmas so once again, do not put yourself through this headache and do not use Allied transportation or Allied van lines Save yourself the hassle and use your local companies. There are local companies within 60 miles of almost everywhere. Beacon United Horizon. Whatever you do ask if whoever you're purchasing your service from is a broker you don't want to do that go direct. I hope this comment saves someone else time energy.

Tip for consumers:
Buyer, beware don’t use Allied transportation or Allied van lines through a broker. You’re only going to get ripped off. They literally went through my entire list of what I was shipping. Their calculation of what I was shipping was spot on with a company that physically came to my house of 760 ft.³ and when the driver showed up he told me my house had over 1600 ft.³ of furniture and understand someone being off 10 to 20% but off 57% that’s called rip off scam artist

Quoted us $4,500 and a move time of 3 days. Took our required $1800 deposit. They call a couple days later and say it's now $8,100. They now have $3500 from us non refundable. The movers show up today and say it will take up to 21 days to deliver. That won't work, we sent them off and am now trying to scramble a reserve our own moving truck. They lie and their reviews online must be fake. Worst company ever see you in court.

Quoted $2300. They subcontracted out my move to Pack Master Movers (criminals) from Jersey City. They arrive for pickup with 2 hours notice on the wrong day. Price changed to $5225. Deposit non refundable. Forced to pay using Zelle, which took 4 days due to transfer limits. Delayed delivery 8 days. Delivered by a THIRD company with NO NAME and $3000 worth of belongings stolen. Zero stars.

They will contract a small unprofessional company like "WE pack Valines" that company is arrogant and rude. They will charge you almost double upon arrival, or threaten to cancel your delivery. They lost and broke half of my stuff. After contacting them via Email, I received a call from Mr. Anthony, explained the situation and was suppose to hear back from him. Never called back.

Have been told three different pick up dates amd times. All have been changed with nothing for them to say but, "it's California." I'm trying to schedule my chemo session around all this bull$#*! lies. All I want is to hear from the actual movers when they will be here.

This company are scam artists and just don't care about their customers. Run away

Great service all around, nice bunch of guys, the price was agreed beforehand, and they stuck to time, and didn't break anything which is a bonus! They safely dismantled beds and dining tables and put them back together with ease. Transport of furniture from door to door was seamless. The guys placed all the good in the right place and manner. And even on a wet day, they managed to not ruin any of the floors or carpets. Definitely recommended.

The movers that the broker (Southern Guarantee) hired have picked up my items and have refused any contact for more than 40 days now. My items are completely missing, and Southern Guarantee has told me there is nothing that they can do. This is of course after they went over the "binding" estimate, by a factor of 3x. They are a fraudulent company stealing from their clients.

This company is absolutely the worst! I got a quote for a reasonable price which I should've know was too good to be true but going against my better judgment, I gave it a shot. Worse decision I could've made! Customer service was horrible, I spoke to so many different people and the guy that gave me a quote named "Jordan" never would respond back to my questions, it was like the closer it came to moving day the less I would hear from the company! On moving day, 4 men showed up to my house very well unkept and demanding mingling with even looking at my inventory, which I did not pay because I knew better! As soon as they entered my home they stated speaking to each other in Spanish which I couldn't understand so I asked the main guy what they were discussing and he literally said "Yeah, its gonna cost you more, you have mirrors and mirrored items we didn't know about." I explained to him that I discussed all this in my initial quote and in my final inventory check. Unfortunately each time I called or was called by the company, I spoke to different people each time so they had no record of the list we went over. The moving guy showed me the quote he was provided with by his company which was a different company than I paid my deposit to (I paid Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage) this was the last red flag for me! I called the Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage to ask why the moving company's quote didn't match mine and the guy I spoke with gave me excuse after excuse which ended up me asking them to leave my property and I was able to get refunded by my bank because during the whole process I had the bank representative on the phone and she could hear all what I was experiencing. Long story short the moving company that showed up to my house attempted to charge me double than my original quote and I wasn't going for it! I rented a moving truck, which cost me less! I highly recommend saving your time and money by not considering this company a total waste of my time!

I've worked with several moving companies before. They were top-notch. So good that I referred it to my friend, and he had the same experience, fantastic. Feels good to give a recommendation like that and have it play through. They are hard workers, have a good attitude, take care of my stuff well, and are pros. They wrapped all of the oversized items very carefully and didn't have issues with our requests. I will work with them again!

They helped my wife and me move into our apartment. We decided to give Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage a go because we had poor experiences with other moving companies; they tried to rip us off. Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage did not let us down. The movers are really kind to us, patient, and careful with our belongings. On top of that, their pricing is fair. If we could give more thumbs up and stars, we would.

To start, this isn't a moving company, it's a brokerage. They sell your move. After charging big money to make a bid firm, they don't stop the actual movers from ignoring that and extorting more cash out of you. There's NO COVERAGE for damage regardless of what they tell you. They will jerk you around, send you to several different claim companies, none of which are actually insurance companies and none of which can get you paid. This is before the actual movers also screw you over in this fashion. Suing in Florida is a waste, you'll never collect. Put these crooks out of business. They disassembled my $2700 refrigerator for NO Reason (it comes out of the house without this) AND then lost half the parts and left it in pieces in my basement. This is now a total loss. I figure I'm out easily $14K between overcharges, damage, and lost items.

Tip for consumers:
they lie, lie, lie. They'll lie when the truth is visible in their contract.

Do NOT USE Southern Guarantee Moving & Storage because they are a criminal organization that purposely misquotes their moving fees to scam their customers out of their deposits. When the driver actually shows up after multiple rude conversations and lies about when he would show up, he takes a stand that Southern Guarantee Moving & Storage didn't estimate my moving right price and refused to take the items listed on the inventory. I had 50 boxes, 2 dressers, 2 nightstands, a cedar chest, a file cabinet, and a TV stand on my inventory in 2 different locations. The driver said wouldn't take any of the furniture and only said he would about a third of the boxes in one location even though the contract stated he needed to pick up items at 2 locations. He demanded more money and said this was Southern Guarantee Moving & Storage's fault. Southern Guarantee has $1066.00 for no service. Congratulations to them on their successful scam. I hope they go out of business and refund my money. They refuse to and said they are keeping my money and said this is my fault.

I COULD MAKE THIS REVIEW VERY LONG BUT I'LL GET TO THE POINT TO SAVE SOMEONE FROM THE MESS I'M DEALING WITH.
If you value your time, money, and belongings, PLEASE do not book with this company.
First of all, know that they are a broker and do not move the items themselves so you honestly have no idea or control over what company will pick up your items until the day they show up.
The salespeople are great at selling you a lie. I told Kayden the contents of my 1 BR. Whatever system they use to gauge the amount of space your stuff takes up is flawed! The company that actually picked up my items basically doubled the estimated cubic footage and I was paying them 40% more than what I was quoted. And this is after re-confirming my items the week of the move.
If they tell you a delivery date, they WILL NOT deliver on that day. I was told my items would be delivered on a day and even set up a time. 1 month later I finally got a call from an independent driver that picked up my things and told me he was hours away. After having to call the subcontracted company every week and them telling me my items had not been picked up yet. Horrible communication from the company.
Finally, my items arrived A MESS. You can see in the pictures that boxes are completely destroyed, vacuum seal bags busted, and the corners of my metal TV console and wooden bar stools are worn. Nothing marked fragile was handled with care and they sent a random man with a truck to drop my items off. I also have to go and clean and sort through a storage unit now due to their carelessness. I'm stressed just thinking about it.

I wish I'd used a pod or honestly even done a uhaul on my own. It would've been $2000 much better spent. PLEASE BEWARE and learn from my mistake.

I was given a quote for moving my belongings but was told a much higher quote 3 days prior to my move (I tried to call them the week before with an update box count but they wouldn't do it) The price jumped up about $4700 as I had a lot more boxes. I said ok, and I got rid of some tables and 50 boxes. Their movers (who were subcontracted which I didn't know) showed up to load my things and without even doing a full walk thru of my house, stated I had more than they thought and added on another $1300! It was too late to do anything of course.
I asked to make sure my boxes would be moved and stored upright (they were not…many were delivered upside down!) I was told they didn't charge for tape or moving blankets (I was charged $300 for tape). I was told my things would be in storage close to where I moved (they did not. They were stored four states away) So when I wanted my things delivered, they wouldn't even do it until a week and a half later and I had to beg for them to do it.
Boxes were damaged and squashed and some items of mine were damaged as well.
I thought hiring movers would make my move much less stressful but it was the opposite. I was so anxious and worried about my things, I wished I had never used them and just loaded a truck by myself.

I had a fantastic experience with Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage! The movers showed up promptly and were very respectful. They worked efficiently and handled any fragile marked boxes with extra care. All moving costs were super affordable. It was a huge move, but this company was a swift process! I ended up having to pay over $5,500.00 for my move from what they quoted me or the movers were going to leave. They said it was basically not their problem and they would do nothing to help. Their quotes that they give you are really just a guess. They don't move you they sublet your move to another company. 125 complaints with the BBB!

If you're considering booking Southern Guarantee Moving, READ THIS REVIEW FIRST. And after you read (or if you don't finish this novel), run in the opposite direction. They will do anything to get the sale and then leave you with the worst moving experience.

Southern Guarantee Moving Company is a fraudulent moving company that will make any lie or promise to you in order to get you to sign your move. As a young woman moving across the country alone for the first time, I tried to be so careful to hire a reliable moving company to get my stuff across the country in one piece in a timely, safe, and cost-effective way. I scoured the internet for different companies, reading multiple reviews and shopping around for several estimates to determine what was the best price while also still being a reliable price. Every moving company is going to have a handful of bad reviews, but when James Helke got on the phone with me, he provided me with what I thought was some honest advice and an honest price, stating that though his price may be slightly higher than competitors it was because they took the time and did the diligence to ensure it was a simple move. I spent over an hour on the phone with James answering all my questions and did not actually book the move that day. I slept on it and called back a few days later to book the move. James assured me during booking that he would be there for me every step of the process but when it came time for my move in July of 2022 and I reached out with questions, James was nowhere to be found. I called his phone number and a different name was on the voicemail box. I texted and received no answer, though that's how we had been communicating before. As soon as James got the sale, he disappeared.

This leads into my experience with customer service. I called 2 weeks before my move to find out when my stuff would be getting dropped off as I needed to book a cross-country flight. They let me know that my moving company would call me 5 days before with information but until then they couldn't share the name of my carrier because they didn't know who it would be. Logistically, this felt incorrect; however, I let it go. While on the phone, I also let them know my updated inventory as I was removing a couch and some other items that I would not be bringing with me. The representative told me that he was going to leave additional space on my inventory to ensure the truck had enough space and that I had wiggle room in case I added any boxes. Made sense to me - may as well be safe, if they take off any money at the end, that would be a win, right?

The weekend before my move, I called back again as I still hadn't heard anything, and they told me that I would get a call 2 days before my move. 2 days before my move, and again, no call. 1 day before my move, I receive a call from who is presumably my mover from Right A-Way Movers to tell me that he is on the way and will be there in 5 hours, the day BEFORE my scheduled move. I let him know that that isn't possible, I am scheduled for the next day. He tells me that he can either pick up my stuff in 5 hours or in a week. As I am someone moving cities with an ending lease, I have to choose the 5 hour option even though I am not fully packed up yet.

At this point, I call Southern Guarantee to validate that my mover is arriving a day early. They continue to tell me that they are coming the next day, even though I have just spoken with the truck driver who is confidently telling me he is on his way. Once the movers arrive, they give me some paperwork and ask me to fill out my address as the moving company, Southern Guarantee, had not shared my most updated information. As I instruct the movers on where to find my stuff, I walk into another room to give Southern Guarantee a call to confirm that the movers inside of my apartment are the correct movers. It took 20 minutes of repeatedly explaining my situation to the representative and them telling me to prepare for my move the next day (false?) for them to finally connect me with their supervisor. The supervisor confirmed the mover name and so I felt a slight bit more comfort that the people in my apartment were my movers.

After the movers had packed up all of my stuff in the truck, they brought back up my paperwork and to my surprise and utter dismay, the price had doubled from what I had been quoted with my super detailed and refined inventory, proving in another way that Southern Guarantee is skewing their quotes to get business. I was shocked. In addition, the mover told me that there was a "long carry" fee for my move, or instead of paying it I could just tip him well. As I had already been planning to tip him well, that seemed like the better option. I went ahead and zelled him his tip and he had me sign the paperwork and gave me my copy. At this point, I had been instructed that the driver would be able to tell me an estimate on when my items would arrive in New York since I had to book a flight. So, naturally, I asked the driver at this point what the ETA for my stuff was. The driver shared that as it had just passed 6pm, the office was closed and would be unable to give an answer. The driver then shared the information for the office and told me that I would be able to call first thing in the morning and they could give me my estimate.

The next morning, I called the number the driver had shared with me. The kind woman on the phone at Right A-Way Movers (the only kind and competent person in this whole process) shared with me that it could take anywhere from 5 days to 6 (6!) WEEKS for my items to arrive in New York. I was shocked, again. Southern Guarantee had shared nothing about this with me. I let the woman know that that was not what I had been promised and requested any way to get it delivered ASAP. She told me I could pay an extra couple thousand to get a rush on it. However, my moving price had already doubled because of Southern Guarantee's misinformed quote. I didn't have much room to fight at this point either, as this company held nearly all of my life's belongings in the back of a truck who knows where. She told me she would provide me an update as soon as she heard more.

I continued to call back and check in on my stuff over the next 6 weeks every day to continue to receive few updates. Though I acknowledge the woman I was talking with probably was not sure how to move the status forward, someone else at Right A-Way Movers or Southern Guarantee Moving should have been able to. The day before my stuff finally arrived, I received a phone call to get the update that it would be arriving the next day. The woman let me know that it was set to go on a truck; however, there was a long carry fee still outstanding from the movers pick-up that I needed to pay otherwise they couldn't release my stuff. I was flabbergasted. The driver had said one thing and then collected duly on that "long carry fee" - I'm sure a ploy by the company to get more money in their pockets.

When my stuff arrived, the driver had a bad attitude and even refused to take one of my couches upstairs, claiming it was too large to fit in the stairwell, even though the chair that was the same width and height had fit. Several of my items arrived broken and they even lost my mattress in the process. If you have ever slept on an air mattress for 6 weeks not knowing you could've just been on a regular mattress because your regular mattress was lost and you could've bought your new one earlier, you can understand the frustration here. If you haven't had this happen to you, I hope this review keeps you from ever feeling that.

When I finally received back my moving "claim" recently, they were offering me ~$150 for all of the things that went wrong here. That is an absolutely outrageous underpayment for everything that was wrong with this move and the terrible treatment and customer service I received.

If you learn anything from this message, do not trust Southern Guarantee Moving or Right A-Way Movers. Both companies are fraudulent and unworthy of your business. If possible, sell your biggest items and pack up a U-haul with the smaller boxes. Or hire someone to drive your U-haul. Or pay an exorbitant amount of money for a company with only good reviews - you'll be thankful and will save yourself many headaches and a significant amount of time from being wasted.

The worse company, they tell you the cost and you sing the contract and then they work with other company where they charge the double what they said. The hold your items and don't deliver to you until you pay the double amount. Please do NOT using them they are SCAMS. I select one star but doesn't deserve any at all. Very mad about what they did to me and charge me the double amount.
