“Protection of me in arbitration”

2/6/20

I had a "fender bender"; did a routine police report as protocol. The opposing person lied, stating $2,000 in auto damages, 2,000 in medical care, pain & suffering. The person walked away no injuries. Police officer evaluated & stated no damage worth filing for but to file report due to protocol. After speaking to my agent with my report. Hartford paid damages to fraudulent information. My insurance cost was doubled. I cancelled my policy in disappointment.

As a former customer, I spent 15 minutes verifying business and contact questions to someone to purchase general liability insurance from Hartford. Then, I was told I'd be transferred to agent with the statement that all my information would be translated to the actual agent. However, the agent who answered the line decided to ask the same questions I had just answered and became rude when I asked why. "If you don't want to answer questions that is fine, I can't help you." So, I answered his stupid questions. He hung up on me when I answered one saying, "Yes, sir, I am calling about my own business." What a $#*!ing jerk!

LTD is not supposed to make you sicker going through appeals. If you are not dying in 2 months you probably won't get approved. The process of LTD is not easy and it is already hard when you're sick. Hartford has medical reviews by their doctors and nurses who do not see you and then conflict with your own doctors facts. Hartford promises to "be there" when one is sick and in need of help when not able to work but do everything possible to deny claims rather than "be there" as the premiums are paid to do. Insurance coverage is more about feeding attorney cases than helping sick people. Denials come with a one page appeal letter to return, then you either hire an attorney to help or file the one page and then they have 45 days to respond, and another 45 days to extend and then another refusal to pay coverage. Then lawsuits get filed, by attorneys who don't take anything until you win your disability, but in the meantime you are financially destroyed while your own doctors know that if you were to be employed you'd be out of work more than at work and making mistakes when you do. Where is the help for sick people who need the insurance to help them as promised, not wait and give so much to attorneys to help? This seems bizarre and a form of torture. If you are an employer who cares about your employees, really cares, then don't buy Hartford coverage because they are not in it to help your employees who need it, they are in it for the circus of denying claims. I wonder how much their employees get in bonus's for successful denials? Everyone wins but the sick who need help.

Tip for consumers:
I don't know what else to say other than this process of being sick and needing coverage shouldn't leave one more sick and financially destroyed while opinions of doctors who do reviews without seeing you and ignore doctors reports of those who do see you should be a violation of insurance laws. Everyone is paid but the sick who need help. I'm sure some get help, but they must be on death's door.

I've had a claim for almost a year & can not get it settled. They say they don't have all the information. I had to get the information myself & send it to them. They have to review it - 2-4 weeks. That was 6 weeks ago. No end in sight. Maybe I should hire an attorney. I did find out their Auto & home insurance is much higher then other companies.

Recently, I submitted a claim with Hartford after being with them for several years. The adjuster they appointed with was name Dawn. She was unprofessional and did everything to save Hartford money. She or they low-ball my Yukon for $6400 and said total. If I wanted it back after the total loss payment it would cost $2,500. I utilize an option to get an outside appraiser and the vehicle was appraised at just under $12,000.00 and Hartford's appraiser agreed. Document signed by both parties and then next thing I know a deposit for repair was made to me without my knowledge. I now want the $12,000.00 (LoL). However, I am seeking legal advice to see if anything can be done on my behalf. After this is settle I am moving my other vehicles, house, and condo from Hartford.

I Was hit by an at fault Hartford customer. I got my car repaired by a local repair shop. Hartford wouldn't cover the full repair and I had to pay to get my car fixed when I wasn't at fault. Beware.

I called recently to just "Get a Quote" to potentially put my daughter on our existing auto policy. The Hartford's quote was over a 70% increase from our current policy premium. I specifically told the Rep that it was a ridiculous increase and to "Not" add her to our policy, as I was going to shop that rate. Lo and behold, I found out later that day that they added her to our policy, increasing our annual premium by $3,000! They refused to take her off without me sending forms, etc. - a big inconvenience. I found a much better option with one of the other large insurance companies, which was extremely competitive with better coverage. Needless to say, I canceled our home and three vehicles' policies with The Hartford, and will never go back. Beware!

Tip for consumers:
Beware of this company's "policies" that add people to your policy when they have documentation that shows that we specifically requested that they do Not add other members to the policy. It seems that it's their way to get unauthorized higher premiums.

I am an AARP member The Hartford group Is supported by the AARP for its members M in my opinion when dealing with them their rates were much higher then other insurance companies You are representing a group of people such as AARP exclusively then your rates should show why you have this Monopoly And they also informed me that I have to ensure all my vehicles are they can't ensure any never heard of such a thing it should be my Prerogative on how many vehicles I want ensure it Complained to AARP office in which they promptly communicated with me to look into this matter also The Hartford group contacted me to explain that this is their company policy seems to me you're rates should at least be competitive with popular and well known insurance companies

In spite of complaints from Prosecutors, clients, and advocacies groups, Hartford continues to operates its criminal enterprise because it has learned the ropes of how to doge the law. As for us, unless you do your research, which my husband didn't do, you will only know the scam you have fallen into when you have a claim.

Here is my story, not different than thousands of other stories of anyone that had been scammed by The Hartford insurance company: I had them for 35 years, my husband assumed they were a legitimate business because they were recommended by the AARP (association for retired person)... through the Weather Modification Program many states have been affected by artificial storms and hurricanes.

I had a legitimate claim when my roof was lifted up. Hartford gave us about U$1,000.00 after 2 months of back and forth phone calls and so and so is traveling. As the storms were unpredictable we were concerned, another 3 months went by. Hartford offered a deal if we sign that we would accept half of the value of the roof replacement, by this time, we were concerned that the our house could suffer damages and accepted the deal but they never paid the half payment they have offered. I was puzzled, if they didn't want to pay, why going to the trouble of preparing a contract and having us signing up?

I contacted several attorneys and finally one was willing to explain why they refused the case and here is what they said "Hartford is doing this for years to their clients. Once you sign the half payment agreement, since an attorney can only charge 5% of the total value, the amount won't be enough even to file the case in court." Indeed the US9,000.00 cost for the roof had gone down to US$3,500.00 and 5% of this is U$125.00 and you can't get a maid to clean your house for this amount.

My neighbor also lost part of his roof but he had everything replaced, without any fuss. I learned a big lesson, when it comes to insurance, either do your research or consult with your neighbors and friends because the time you need an insurance you can't shift providers. He had liberty mutual and this is what I have now.

I contacted the public attorney who confirmed that Hartford has been in their radar for a long time and that unfortunately people can't sue them because they have developed a strategy that will make cost effective impossible to sue them.

As far as I am concerned AARP and Hartford as partners in crime, swindling the public and taking advantage of the trust we had deposited in them. At over US$2,000.00 per year(sometimes less but overall and in round figures) we paid the Hartford home and car insurance, multiplied over 35 years (even though there are minor changes in premium) it is roughly US$70,000.00, think of how much we could have done with that money.

Here is the lesson I've learned: a recommendation by a scammer is worthless. If we new how many scammers AARP had supported, we would never take them seriously. Do your own research, look at rip off posts, type "complaints against so and so". From our part we had cancelled our membership with AARP (it is not possible that they didn't know about 37 rip off reports loud and clear all over the internet, not to mention reports on the Governmental site) AARP are complicit with the scam. So Hartford took US$700,000.00 from us and caused us a tremendous amount of fear and stress, but hopefully it can save others from the scam (by the way, all the documentation is available, including their original contract and their agreement to pay half)

The only way you can contact them is to sit on hold for 40-50 minutes. HORRIBLE customer service! Then they NEVER call you back. Even of you email, fax and leve a message they still do not return any contact. No one knows what they are doing. Don't try to use there insurance if you get into an accident. It has been an absolute NIGHTMARE to have a claim with them, even though the accident was not my fault. I spoke to 6 different people in one day trying to get one simple answer no one knew not even supervisors or managers.
