I have used tutors for both my sons at A & GCSE level and have always found great teachers. The site is user friendly, it allows you to really see what skills and experience teachers have. TutorHunt responds well & efficiently to me as a parent.
A member of this site for a few years, and was very happy with it. However, over the last year, I have had zero bookings, despite having several clients in the past with 4/5 star reviews. The high cost of membership combined with their CUT on every lesson has bumped up prices unaffordable for both tutors and students. I would suggest looking eleswhere, indeed I am registering with other sites and pretty much dumped this one.

Not great when you are a tutor and something goes wrong. They want to maintain a good reputation but dont give good tutor back up when you have difficult clients. Not one of the best tutor services.
Testimonial
Debbie has been the best tutor we've found for helping our daughter with her Biology, Chemistry and Physics revision. She has found her GCSE exams much easier having had lots of practice on exam technique and past papers with Debbie. I would highly recommend her as a tutor for any science subject.

This site used to be fair, taking a reasonable about of commission for their service.
Now, not only do they not give the option to pay a one-off finders' fee, but the commission on each lesson is extortionate. My own situation is that I charge £30 a lesson and Tutor Hunt charge students and parents another £15 on top of this, so they are now paying £45 for a £30 lesson.
As a GCSE tutor, I work with students on a long term basis, which can really increase their costs. The worst thing is I can't tell parents about the commission and Tutor Hunt make it appear as though I am charging £45.
They have become greedy and exploitative and I would recommed parents, students and tutors to go elsewhere.
Tip for consumers:
Their undisclosed commission
I have been a tutor on this platform since 2012 and got most of my students through them. It used to be very easy, small fee for the students to pay to get my details- that's it. Now it's become ridiculous! Not only they retain a percentage on every hour taught but suddenly I have been struggling to get my profile 'verified' because I have a DBS on the gvt s Update Service and they don't accept it! You heard me, they don't accept my DBS although it is enhanced and automatically updated every year. I work in colleges. It's become a total joke. Disappointed.
Dr Margaret is helping my daughter prepare for her Chemistry A' level. We have found Margaret to be very professional, patient, and calm, and is explaining things in a clear, understandable way which is really helping my daughter, who is really enjoying her sessions with her. We are delighted to have found Margaret and are already finding the sessions are very beneficial towards her A level after only a few weeks.
So disappointed to write this revew after working a few years for tutor hunt and being very happy. Like practically everyone else I have had hardly any enquiries since they decided to charge 25% for every lesson. I have spoken to them but they were quite adamant that most tutors were in favour of the new system. These reviews tell a completely different story!
I would seroiusly advise them to go back to their original system where students paid £25 for a tutor's contact details. For example if a student was ill or had a shift change they sent me a text whereas if you are ill it is so much more hassle to log on and send an Email.
I hope you have read and are taking note Tutor Hunt as there are so many more sites available now
Brilliant site, easy to use. A good choice of tutors. Quick response. The simple payment process, highly recommend
This is a good website. I have found excellent tutors. It is easy to navigate. The response from customer service is good. There is ample information about each tutor including a rough idea of location.

Sara is a great and diligent tutor. My son has responded very well to her online lessons and feels much more confident with her Physics course.
Very reliable website. My tutor was well organised, brings appropriate work with him, and gives me confidence. Very happy indeed.
Karen is a great tutor and excellent teacher, highly recommended. She has a natural charisma & genuine passion for the teaching profession.
I purchased the details of a tutor via the site and booked a class, I emailed the tutor with full details of exactly what I wanted to cover prior to the lesson. However, the tutor waffled and wouldn't follow the materials that I provided saying that he was teaching *real* programming then insisted on tutoring me on a topic that is of my competency level at this time. I then followed the lesson up with an email, again explaining what I wanted from him, he responded saying that this was ok, but if I wanted to learn programming (!), then I would be better following his technique - He couldn`t detail any specific issues with the syllabus (I don`t think he`d actually looked at it) though, just that his meandering waffle was better.
Since I am a glutton for punishment, I then hoped to book another lesson with Bruce and after 10+ emails full of miscommunications / misunderstandings, all compounded by being forced to book through TutorHunt`s archaic system, I gave up.
I telephoned the administrative office to deal with a payment issue; the website requesting more money despite having already paid, and was continually given the runaround.
Go elsewhere to find tutoring.
Very good tutor! Great choice for our Year 11 child studying for GCSE English, We have noticed some big improvements after just 4 sessions. Thank you
I have been a tutot on this site for years. I met many clients and agents this way. However, in the past year, this site has been managed in a very different way. They now charge tutors for a premium membership but give nothing in return. I have been a well-liked tutor and have had plenty of 5 star reviews for 20 years but during this past year got 0 clients from this site. They charged for a DBS and, despite paying upfront, they gave nothing in return. I sent a polite complaint letter weeks ago and did not even got an ackowledgemen from this site. On top of all this, they now take a big cut from tutors too, making the prices so much less accessible to clients. Either the clients suffers or the tutor suffers. Either way, this is unfair and it is no longer the high quality site it once was.
Tip for consumers:
If you are tutor, look elsewhere

This site does the job... it's easy to use, we found our tutor (Sarah) to be reliable and punctual. Thank you.
I have been a tutor on Tutor Hunt for 5 years and gained many leads from them. However, at the end of last year I got a notification of a change to the terms and was told that I would be charged 25% commission for every student gained. It appears that this is unjust as the commission service is only applicable to new tutors who signed up in 2019 onwards. I am now stuck on a high fee and will probably get no leads and have to go elsewhere.
To top it off Tutor Hunt don't bother replying to support emails and they can't even pick up the phone to remedy the situation! Appalling treatment, avoid at all costs!
For many years as a parent I have booked tutors on Tutor Hunt. I have found TutorHunt a reliable Company & have found on the whole excellent Tutors.

Thoroughly read through each Tutors profile & reviews

Sophie's classes were excellent. We have learnt a lot and the sessions were very enjoyable. I Can highly recommend.
Firstly I would like to say I am sure this site is legitimate and there are genuine tutors willing to help. However my daughters experience has been far from positive as the tutor which I paid a fee of £23 for has no subject knowledge of what we require (this was not brought to light before we purchased their details). Following a rather unusual phone call the tutor has now sent an abusive email. I fear this is instead of admitting lack of subject knowledge. As a result I would say stay away from this site, however this could be an isolated incident.
Excellent Tutor who my daughter has found to be of great value. Would recommend this service to anyone
Brilliant. My son recently started with tuition sessions, we are very happy with the tutors enthusiasm and professionalism.
Easy to use and I have found many students through tutorhunt. I would definitely recommend trying it out.
Tutor Hunt
I would suggest that for unsuspecting future tutors and especially for the students who express an interest in their services - you make your procedure clearer/ more transparent on your website. In other words that you, Tutor Hunt:
- add commission on each and every lesson (in my case 25%)
- do not allow initial meetings to take place free-of-charge
- expect a series of lessons to be booked in advance before the student/tutor have even met.
I am truly shocked by my experience and have requested that my account be deleted.
The Tutor Hunt network helps both tutors and students find each other. Search by level, subject and location, create your own tutor or student profile for free.
