“Was Satisfied”

R C.
9/28/21

With Twigby for 3 years and was satisfied until they went from sprint to verizon backbone. Put the new service sim in and had connectivity problems so had to leave for another service. Just as info, I do not use the smart phone like most folks. All I need is SMS and talk. Never had a problem with billing or porting out my number to my new service. Hated to leave, because now I have to pay 2/3's more than I did. I'm trying Google Fi at the moment and so far, after 3 weeks am happy with it. I live in a rural area of SE Iowa where cell coverage by the big boys isn't as good. US Cellular is the better one for my area.

“Canceled "unlimited plan" because my son used it "excessively"”

Beverly J.
8/18/23

This lousy service dropped my son's account because he "abused" the "unlimited " service. Ridiculous. When I asked about it, I got a curt reply and they blocked my account. I feel like I'm a child; like a teen who got blocked from calling someone. Unbelievable. This phone company will stop your service if you use your unlimited plan too much. Makes sense.

This company is nothing but a scam! The phones are absolutely terrible, you cannot even make or receive phone calls. The company will fraudulently charge you! It is nearly impossible to cancel your account. When promised a refund they still refuse to provide the refund. Again, you are being fraudulently charged for services you do not actually even receive. This company is a scam!

Tip for consumers:
They do not allow actual reviews to be left on their website or app. This is because they have fake reviews only to continue to get people in on their scam. They are nothing but a fraudulent company so they need to false reviews to put on the good front.

Products used:
2 different phones. They forced me to purchase a second phone after the first phone was no longer connected to their network, they did not provide either phone without charge and there was no refund for their faulty technology.

I have had twigby for a month. All seemed OK. On their website, it says my account is active and I owe no money. Today, when I try a make a call to any number, I get a message that the caller has line restrictions and the call can not go through. I have chatted for 45 minutes and they are unable to resolve the problem. They can call me, I can not call anyone. They are placing a ticket with their network team, who usually respond in 24 business hours, which is 3 days without being able to make outgoing calls.

Their service can not receive txt from paypal. If you use 2 step verification, you are unable to log on to your paypal account. The customer service simply says they can do nothing.
Very hard to leave twigby. The porting will take forever. And it is impossible to get hold of any one in their porting dept. once some thing goes wrong, they do not send response, or the response simply does not go through to the new carriers for very mysterious reasons. Verizon simply complaint that they could not get twigby's response.
Once you are with them, you are impossible to leave. The customer service person called Dave is very rude. There was a rejection on my porting, he simply did not want to let me know.

Customer service is great. I have only had 1 rep that had no idea what was going on or how to solve the issue. All the others are VERY knowledgeable! Only other is is when you run out of "high speed data" it drops to the speed of old 2g service. Less than 1by1mbps. Can't even track my kids phones on that speed. BUT the unlimited is $35 and gives 20gb of "high speed data" whether your on 4g LTE or 5G. Other than that it works well on Verizon network. If they could just up their "low speed data" to 3g speeds it would be the best and the cheapest (least expensive) on the market.

1. After 6 months, the service was basically unusable, turtle speed.
2. After I ported my number to another service in the middle of the service period, I got no refund. I was told they only give refunds within 30 days of signing up.

Bad deal!

I like Twigby because I like Sprint, but also because of the idea unique to Twigby of supplementing Sprint's coverage reach [for phone calls] using Verizon's network. Check out Sprint's signal strength where you live to insure adequacy and, with few exceptions, you should be satisfied with data applications like Zooming. Another stress-reducing asset to keep in mind is their chat service: Responsiveness is normally quick and typically you will be placed in touch with someone eager to help work out your problem as they consistently have done for me over the last three or so years. While there are a few sub carriers [MVNO's] out there that may be slightly lower in price, those benefits which I have described make up for the difference in terms of satisfaction.

They were ok until I needed costumer service, by the way only way to communicate with them is through chat online only! No # to call "real pain". Bought two phones when I first switch to them, not even a year old, they switch networks and said my phones were no longer compatible had to buy two more or I will no longer have service bought two more one did not work, they charge me $30 to exchange the phone $7 for shipping $11 to return the phone that did not work and they charge me the price of the new phone till they can inspect the phone for damage. Then I found an extra charge on my bank statement for $44 they said they have no record of it so there is nothing they can do about it. I told them I will file a fraudulent charge with my bank they said if I do they will turn service off till they can investigate and they will charge me $30 for it. Read there policies before you switch to there service (unreal!) I had enough went to switch my service to another carrier, try to port my #'s should have taken a few min. To do, but not with them it took 4 days/hours every day going back and forth with them, they gave me a different excuses every time, File a complaint with FCC they finally ported my numbers.
What a nightmare of a company to deal with.

Tip for consumers:
Read there policies it should be enough to stay away from them.

I asked prebuy if the device was unlocked to which they said yes it was. So after I get the phone I find that it has OEM unlocking disabled. I was happy with their service and all I want to do is install a different OS than stock, Lineage-OS or along those lines. But not happening, whats worse they wanted to treat it like a warranty issue and make the process highly subjective and time consuming. Due to their misrepresentation I have to pay for return shipping and hope they feel like refunding the purchase price. I feel a dispute is ahead with my credit card company. There are MANY other MVNO's out there, I would avoid this company at ALL cost.

Tip for consumers:
Very poor customer service. They act as if they are the only game in town. Misrepresent the products they sell and make returning it exceedingly difficult.

Ever since they switched to Verizon network, I have gotten coverage in numerous places I never could when it was a Sprint network, even at my house in a canyon where there was NO coverage before. One drawback since it's a Verizon network, my data usage has gone up at a rate of about 4x the rate before, when in actuality I am using less than I did in the past because I am using a browser (Puffin) that saves you like 356% of your normal data usage. I don't even use my phone hardly at all compared to most people as I am at home 95% of the time and use my computer. What's up with that Twigby?

Tip for consumers:
That when they switched to the Verizon network (they call it the RED network) my data usage would quadruple....even though I am using less data than before. 8 days into the billing cycle and I have somehow already used 1/2 my data...crazy!

Called Twigby customer service to activate a new SIM card.
Got someone called Dave who was just the worst customer service person I have ever dealt with.

Was rude and not helpful at all

I have contacted Twigby assistance before and gotten professional and courteous service in the past

Dave needs to go!

Previous to me trying to leave Twigby I would have given them 3 or 4 stars. My experience trying to port my number away from them to a better carrier has been so horrible that I have now gotten the BBB and the FCC involved.

Twigby doesn't work with voicemail on the Galaxy S10. It never has. I am never notified when I have voicemail and I have to call my voicemail a few times a day to check it. I got tired of this and decided to get service with a different provider.

That was in late July.

It's now mid-September. I have tried three different new carriers and have made over a dozen porting attempts. I have had Twigby chat (the only way to talk to customer support) tell me so many different lies about why my port failed that it is dizzying. My top favorites include:

- my address is '123 Main st'... which is obviously fake

- my address is out-of-date from 3 years ago... even though it's been updated in my account settings for 2 years. The address they claim I need to update isn't even accessible to me on my account settings, but I have to update my out-of-date address (that I cannot change or access) to my current address to transfer.

- my address said "SouthEast" instead of "SE"

- my address had the wrong zip code (it was correct)

- it's [insert carrier here]'s fault, not Twigby's.

- my information must be wrong with my new carrier, even though I provided my new carrier literal screenshots of my Twigby account information

The FCC served Twigby yesterday, so it'll be interesting to see how quickly they change their tune now that a government overseeing body is involved.

Basically their service is 2/5 or 3/5... as long as you NEVER EVER EVER want to leave. As a customer retention tactic this 'we refuse to port your number out in direct violation of federal law' garbage has gotten real old and can't possibly be working out for them long-term._________

UPDATE: Two days after Twigby was served official notice by the FCC, all those pesky "errors" suddenly cleared up, my information was mysteriously now correct, and my port to another carrier went right through. Amazing how they were able to so suddenly fix all their issues!

The Motorola G7 is listed on Twigby's site as a phone that supports WiFi calling. Because of that, I bought two Motorola G7 Power phones. Well, guess what? WiFi calling didn't work - the phone didn't have the settings shown in the how-to-enable-WiFi-calling article. So, I had a chat session with one of their tech support folks. Completely unhelpful - all they wanted to do was argue about my use of the word "incompatible" - they stated (repeatedly) that my phone was NOT incompatible, while also stating that SOME Moto G7 Powers don't have "the right firmware" to support WiFi calling, and basically informing me that I was out of luck. That's what I call "incompatible", but then again, I only have a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering - what do I know?!?!?

P.s. I switched to Republic Wireless, and WiFi calling works great - using the exact same phone.

Tip for consumers:
Use Republic Wireless instead.

Twigby is only for people who use VERY Little Data and Calls. If you know exactly how much you use and will stick to it then fine. If your life changes then beware. I had to update my plan and was charged $13 for 3 days of 4GB Data to reach the end of my current plan date then 4 days into the new plan after paying another $21 i have used over 5GB of Data. That's 9GB of Data (I don't watch Videos or Stream) for $34 SO FAR for 7 days. Why not just get an unlimited plan for $40-50! Remember Twigby doesn't offer unlimited plans. Just know that you get what you pay for.

Where do I start? Five attempts to bring a new iPhone 6s Plus that was a gift, and existing SIM card, to start using Twigby. Customer Service is nearly useless as CSAs have no technical knowledge so they are not helpful when something doesn't fit their little boxes.

First it was a field on their form that rejected my correct legal address, then the site called my SIM card "invalid" when it works fine in my phone, and then the chat thread ran off the bottom of the page so I could no longer read responses. That happened two times (2 different devices). My previous chats and partially filled in forms were not saved from one session to the next so I was forced to start at the beginning of the whole process. This might be defensible if I was not a customer, yet I was told each time to sign in to my account. That meant no one had a record of previous efforts to solve problems... meaning starting from scratch to explain everything to a new CSA.

I will be warning everyone I know to avoid this horrible company

DO NOT USE THESE CROOKS!

They will charge you for overages when you have overage protection ON and say you turned it off when you didn't...

And forget the 30 day try and if you don't like refund guarantee... they won't give you that back either... CROOKS total & complete CROOKS!

We had 3 phones that we were able to switch from verizon to twigby and saved a bunch of money. I have referred two other familes. We live in a rural area and they are the only low cost plans that work here in lowa. When we travel we have had zero issues. Was sceptical at first but now very happy.

The prices are great and I like their policy on data (they have caps but if you go over it's not biggie, they still give you unlimited data but at a slower speed till the next month, but the customer support is ONLY though chat (which is I guess better than just forums as some other companies are-really stay away from THOSE.)

When I wrote a long email asking for a supervisor to help. One of the problems with the chat, is I had a long paragraph detailing what I was encountering on my phone and the chat agent thought I was not responding (he couldn't see the floating dots?) so closed the chat so I was typing all for nothing. The supervisor said I should make the chats shorter, nonwithstanding that it's like hanging up on a call where when I worked in call centers was a something one could get fired for.

The phone, a Moto E6 Play was different from the one on Motorola site and did not have fingerprint lock as THIS company doesn't have it on their model, wifi didn't authenticate, CSA (2 of them) blamed me for wrong password, wasn't on THEIR end and on and on. They were nice enough, but after over four hours on the phone i can't access my wifi and I didn't get the extras of the phone I thought I would be getting and although I can send the phone back for a refund and get my money back with shipping and the accessories (I now can't use as I am returning the phone as they are unreturnable) I am out around $22!

Initially when I ordered before trying it I told a person whose income was so low, he didn't need to file taxes (should have lifeline) but pays $90 a month as he needs a lot of data about them as they had a referral program but he said that he wanted to buy a phone where he could go to the store and get help and ridiculed him for that and now I feel bad because the only help is chat and not only can it not be very helpful but hours are limited. He is right, a storefront IS a lot better than ordering ANY phone online, if you have difficulties in programming or getting the wrong phone you can deal with it more easily and inexpensively, it might be worth the extra money, having a person help you in person, seeing how you are doing it and correcting it if necessary!

I think Twigby is the best NVNO, using both Sprint, and Verizon as a backup network. CDMA is better than GSM and with Twigby you get both Sprint and the Verizon. Network as a backup if Sprint won't work where you are located. Porting over was a breeze too.

Twigby works as well as Sprint did.
