“Good but Inconsistent”

Mustafa A.

Ultracell (UK) Ltd has good VRLA batteries and their prices are reasonable. They have a good website in multiple languages such as English, French and Spanish... but not in Arabic... so boo! For that. Otherwise it's a good company overall.

“MADE IN CHINA!”

Stephany R.

We imported batteries from them with a EURO1 certificate. We later found out that their batteries are actually made in China not Europe. They import from China to the UK, then export from their warehouse to customers. We overpaid for the batteries thinking they were European, but unfortunately they turned out to be Chinese, which we could have bought straight from China for a much better price.

I recently had the opportunity to learn about the manufacturing process of Ultracell batteries, and I must say, I was quite disappointed. It turns out that the batteries are 100% manufactured in China, with no factory presence in the UK, which means customers can never visit the company. What they do is import battery containers from China based on demand and then simply attach a "made in UK" sticker to them. Surprisingly, they even provide certificates stating that the batteries were manufactured in the UK, although I have no idea how they manage to do so.

Once customers discover this deception, they understandably sever all communication and refuse to engage with the company any further. Many companies in the Middle East, including those that provide services to their respective governments, specifically purchase these batteries because they believe they are made in the UK, and they even pay a premium for all the certifications. However, little do they know that these batteries are being produced right in China, just a stone's throw away from them.

If you doubt this claim, I encourage you to request a factory visit from Ultracell. I guarantee you'll receive a well-crafted excuse along the lines of, "We have confidentiality agreements with certain clients for whom we manufacture batteries, and therefore, we cannot allow any visits." It has been years since Ultracell has been conducting business in this deceptive manner, but I want to bring attention to the fact that for countries within the European Union, they are honest about the batteries' Chinese origin. This is most likely due to potential legal repercussions resulting from government agreements within the European Union. However, for countries outside the European Union, they continue to propagate this lie.

In conclusion, the manufacturing process of Ultracell batteries is deeply deceptive, and potential customers deserve to know the truth. The company's false claims of UK manufacturing and the issuance of misleading certificates are highly unethical. As a consumer, I find it disheartening to see such dishonest practices in the market. I hope this review serves as a warning to those considering purchasing Ultracell batteries, especially if they are seeking UK-manufactured products.

They said they would give me 12 months of warranty, but every time I tell them I have some returns from my customers, they would ask me to fill out a form, then based on the information, they include that it's a "user problem", so they would decline all our returns.

I have a small store in Cairo and we used to sell a lot of Ultracell batteries, but we had too many customers very mad because the battery stops working after a month. Anyway, we replace it to the customer because it comes with "12 months warranty". However, every time we try to inform Ultracell of the damaged batteries, they request us to conduct soooo many tests, take so many pictures and fill out lengthy forms. It's like they want us to be sick of the process and discourage us to send batteries for replacement. The bigger issue is that after we fill everything out and complete the requirements, most of the time they reject our warranty claims because they "concluded that the issue was not related to a manufacturing defect"... so we end up replacing batteries for customers and we don't get anything back from Ultracell... some months we were operating at a loss.

Thankfully we came across an ad on TV from Canbat and we contacted them immediately. We know sell Canbat batteries only and we are rarely getting any returns, maybe once every few months. More importantly, Canbat replaces any defective battery in our next shipment without the need to go through the lengthy process. Thank you Canbat and sorry Ultracell, but the truth needs to come out!
