Been a Viasat customer for 7+ years. I signed up for the ACP $30.00 reduction on my $130.00 per month Viasat bill 8/22. I contacted Viasat and gave them the pertinent information. They informed me that the credit would begin being deducted from my account within 60 days. They stated if my next bill wasn't deducted $60.00 would be deducted from the next month's bill, and the $30.00 would be deducted monthly. 11/22, no deductions yet. Contacted Viasat; it hasn't "processed" yet. 12/22, no deduction. 1/23, contacted Viasat. They have no record of it, and I have to re-apply. $150.00 means a lot to the average American. When ANY hard line internet comes to my area I am telling Viasat to take their male bovine fecal matter and stick it.
BEWARE! Viasat paid google to take down their real reviews. And the 3 star ones you see? Good luck trying to leave a bad review. Most are employees. 85% of customers are very dissatisfied. They throttle you even when you don't use it much. Do your research. This company is about greed. And only greed.

Our old internet provider said they serviced the area of our new rental, but then AFTER we signed the lease, informed us that they actually don't. Literally the only game in town was Hughesnet or Viasat. Hughesnet was 1990s AOL dial-up slow. Unusable. Via sat PROMISED fast speeds, but never delivered. Latency averages 700-800, which renders it absolutely unusable (3-5 second delays for both phone and video calls) Customer service is atrocious. They will lie and lie and lie just to get more $$. They promise "business hours," but still yank all of your data. READ EVERY WORD OF THE FINE PRINT - IT'S A TRAP. They had us using 35-90 Gigs PER DAY when our devices were shut down and we weren't even home. No, no one had our password (the stupid modem automatically resets several times a week, which switches up the password and we have to go chasing it down.) The slightest changes in weather knock out the service altogether. Both my husband and I lost our jobs over their absolutely terrible, spotty, slow "service."
Tip for consumers:
They lock you into a 24-month contract, and even if the service is so bad that it's unusable from day one, they want to charge excessive disconnection fees. They are not honest about latency, which is the killer. They will lecture you over and over about space and relay, etc., like you are moron. They BARELY speak English and you will spend literal hours on the phone with them, only to have them totally screw up the service/order/repair/bill anyway.

When I spoke to them the first time they told me NO CONTRACT, the internet did not work from day one, I called several times and they did not solve the problem, when I wanted to watch TV it only said "no internet connection" when I canceled the service they told me They was going to charge a extra $343 from my bank account. Because there was a CONTRACT, I do not recommend them at all, terrible signal, horrible prices, and customer service the same, terrible, while I was trying to solve my problem with them on the phone another person could be heard in the background cursing because they ran out of lemonade.
Don't waste your money and time with these thieves.

Viasat is totally no service. Half the time we can't even get on the internet. Yes, other internet services may be bad, but nothing rivals the total worthlessness of viasat. It must be in the brink of going out of business. By the way, viasat says it's going up 33%; that's comical.

Don't get it I had xfinity before this and they are ten times better especially if you play video games my ping was bouncing from 800 to 2500 but with xfinity i would stay at a solid 30-35 ping so this internet sucks $#*!
Customer service is beyond rude. We're paying over 300 a month for 3 days of barely working internet. The rest of the month our internet doesnt work. It takes 2 hours to watch a 20 minute show. 15 minutes to load a web page. But to them it works just fine. All the call centers are over seas and all they do is read scripts to you and gaslight you for being upset with their trash service. It's a scam company to the core. They boast unlimited plans but in reality they come nowhere close. Avoid them at all costs.
Tip for consumers:
Don't. Go with starlink if you can.

We try to use the internet
Their customer service is the worst. My bill was 193$ for 120gb of data and they keep saying I used all my data but all I did was watch a few movies and did wifi call. I don't even have a computer to use any of this data. Then I asked how that was possible and they tell me I had to buy more data. So my bill was almost 300$ then I tell them I want to end my service then they wanted to start cutting deals. Now I have to unhook everything and if one of there technicians have to come out to unhook anything they want to change ME 100$ for them to come get there equipment. Thus is the worst company I've ever dealt with and their ripping people off
Worst internet I have ever had in my life. Service tech has come out multiple times and claims he can't find anything wrong. This tell me, it's all they can do. They claim they are adding a new satellite and they have, but signal is no better. I have the 30/300. Which on means they charge more for less. Do get lured into the lies.
I called the customer service many times for installation they hold me for long time and no response, they given me many fake time to installation, and they mentioned if I need cancel service I have to pay 2 years.
And when I did the order by cellphone I asked the sales lady she said cancel for free no fees.
This not clear, something wrong happen, I don't understand.
Also the email the sent me for order confirmation not mentioned for any cancellation fees.
I don't know are they scam company or what.
This company is the worst internet service I've had in 30 years! They are rapists and thieves! Tried to charge me $530 for one month, all bull$#*! charges and extra fees I didn't know about, that they claim are valid. They suspended my account and then still are charging me the monthly fee of $160 which is extremely limited data. I would run out of data after 2 days of watching tv for a couple hours a day! The internet went out half the time or it was buffering. It's nearly impossible to speak with a representative and of course when you do finally get through, they barely speak English and if you can't get through, the message just hangs up on you. Now they're trying to charge me $350 to disconnect it and get their equipment down from the roof to send back or they'll charge another $300…unbelievable! This has got to be illegal! Very unhappy. My internet in the middle of no where in Alaska was better than this! Dial up AOL was better than dealing with this crap!
Just had ViaSat for 3 days for simple, remote video calls and the data used is just absurd. Signal sucks, reception horrible, speed awful. Worse experience w/ internet companies EVER. Customer service took NINETY minutes of my time only to get my name and address wrong -- pathetic. Woman from NY was rude, could barely speak English and I could care less how many customers you deal with in a day, I'm not your therapist.
Tip for consumers:
DONT DO IT
I call 2-3 times a week, every time its something else. There is no retribution for the data i have paid for and cannot use. They can give me a credit, i told them i am canceling their service, they will not refund me, only a credit for another month of bad service. So not only have they not given me my money back for days i had no internet, there is no pay for the time i have wasted calling. These are not 5 minute calls. These calls are over 30, currently on the phone now for 49 minutes. Run from viastat!
After 20min w their customer service chat, they won't refund me for Wi-Fi service that didn't work. And there is no way to escalate the issue. What a JIP! How can they get away with this?
Tip for consumers:
Bad service and customer service
For what they expect you to pay a month, this internet is not worth it. Regardless of where in the pay period you are, the internet speeds are too slow to even load videos on Facebook. The data cap is a sham. You can only use the internet for 2 wifi calls a month and they will still say you hit your cap. This is the worst option for internet available.
Tip for consumers:
The data cap is fake. They give the worst service possible for premium prices. Not worth the buy.

This company has horrible customer service! I disconnected my account in 2018 and returned my equipment at that time. They reached out via debt collectors in 2022 saying the equipment wasn't returned. WHERE DID THIS COME FROM 4 YEARS LATER?!? They are now trying to scam me out of $300 and won't speak with me on the phone because the account is too old? Absolutely insane. This company has been a headache since day 1!
We received our installation okay. Service/speeds work fine. BUT, the modem only uses 2.4 G wireless, not 5G. I hooked up a 5G router, but the ethernet ports won't stay online. I reset modem etc etc etc... talked with tech support... nothing fixes the problem. Now, they want to charge me $95 to send a technician out to fix a modem that hasn't ever worked right, and that I lease from them! There appears to be no exception to this rule. Ridiculous. I have a 24 month contract to suffer through. Think twice., or if you have to use them, be sure to check your router's service carefully, and complain right away if there is an issue.
Not only are they very expensive, we were constantly buffering and we had high speed and then unlimited standard data, but even google showed us that we were staying in the "low quality" range always buffering and stopping and starting videos. If the whether wasn't perfect our internet would go out even if it sprinkled, Viasat and Hughes were the top two worst services we've ever had.

Don't get the service was not good.

Worst internet/costumer service, they charged me for a missing piece saying I didn't send, yet gave them tracking number and what not mind you i send this about 5 months ago and just a couple weeks ago they decide to take $300 from my account with out contacting me yet calling me a liar about not send there items back and pretty much said screw your refund! WORST EVER! And wifi sucks out in the country and they charge so much!
We made a serious mistake signing a 2 year contract with this company. Speeds are outrageously slow and the customer service is terrible. It's been a nightmare

Terrible experience: Internet speed was 5 times slow than what was in my contract and ViaSat was not able to fix it. When I cancel service, they still took earlier termination fees.
I had this satelite service out of desperation because my area did not have any other choice. I regret ever having spent any money here, they are the literal worst. I changed to ATT as soon as I could and ViaSat suddenly had a better rate and better speed to offer me...haha NO. After I cancelled they continued to charge me for months! Constant fight with a guy on the phone that sounded so high he could not function. He said both "I see your service is cancelled..." and "it was justifiable that they charged me in September because I cancelled my payment in Aug" So they were just charging the card no matter what! I had cancelled in July, for reference! AVOID THEM
I have suffered through 13 months of very poor internet. I paid $385 a month and the "high speed" data was gone in one week and then we could not do anything. The speed was never as fast as they reported that it would be. I need to work from home and it was a daily struggle with buffering and dropped calls etc. I would end up paying another $120 a month for more data. I called to cancel today as e-mails always indicated that my data was starting over on the 5th. I was told they already billed me yesterday and will not refund any of it.
Tip for consumers:
Don't!

I used their internet service for 13 months. The speed was not as fast as I was told it would be. It continually buffered and the "high speed" data would be gone in a month even though I paid $385 for the highest plan.
We had limited choices for internet provider until Starlink came along. ViaSat "sold" us 50-150 mbps for a premium price of $300 per month. Since our contract started 3 months ago we've had 20mbps at best with uploads of 1-2mbps. We've had 4 service calls which were very difficult to setup, and it wasn't till our last service call that they realized our equipment was faulty. Broken equipment- it happens.
We requested a refund for the 2 months ($600) for the time that we were not able to use the service, and we were denied. Instead they offered 1month, citing that there is "no proof" that we had service interruptions (despite 3 other service calls for no service and the realization that the original equipment was faulty). So it was a no brainer to discontinue service with them immediately. But just so they were certain the door hit us from behind on our exit, they denied the 1 month refund and reminded us they we signed a contract and would need to pay them an additional $350 as a penalty. Thankfully, there is nothing in the contract protecting them against the sale of a faulty product and will have an opportunity to dispute this legally.
This company makes their money selling a contract that offers an unrealistic product and then penalizes you when their scheme is revealed and you cancel the contract.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this headache, especially as there is now other companies with faster service, cheaper rates and good customer service
