“Be careful and do not waste your time of your vacation on touring Villas Sol.”

We succumbed to the temptation to the invitation to visit the resort, Villas Sol, here in Costa Rica. We were approached by a young Costa Rican sporting a blue hat and a blue shirt with the logo and the name of the resort embossed on his shirt. We signed an offer and decided to use a day of our time here to go see this resort, which happened to be very near the B&B we are staying. We were offered a 3 day 2 night stay at the resort, plus breakfast and lunch the day of our stay. This seemed like an attractive offer that we could use so we agreed. The supervisor of young rep asked if we would agree to pay $25 for the all-inclusive fee for the two days. We agreed to that and off we went to the resort. We thought the resort was very interesting, with many levels. Three different pools, a gym, a spa area, a tennis court and even a swim up bar. We did not have a chance to try this, as the rain kept up the entire visit, and the next day too. We actually did NOT even see a hotel room or a villa as part of the sales presentation The food was tired and lacked flavour, but we were a bit late for breakfast. Lunch was a bit better, but the food was very cheap food, like hamburgers. The worst French fries ever. The salads were tasty. But overall the food was quite forgettable. Desert was very limited. The food was like the food in a 2 star Cuban resort. On the day we called to book the 3 day 2 night, we were informed that we had to pay $246.00 US which was a far cry from the $25 we were promised by the Villas Sol supervisor. The next day, we met a young couple on the beach, they were honeymooning at Villas Sol. They had no a/c and were unable to get the situation resolved. They hated it and told us they treated like a place to sleep only. Too many broken promises. We know, we know. Numerous emails and calls have not resolved this situation. I received a email from the customer service rep: we must apply the rate indicating on the certificate, That rate that the boy told is no the correct one, according to the courtesy the all inclusive rate is $50 plus taxes =$61.50 per adult and per night. Adding up to $240 US for the stay. We were hoping that villas sol would honor this commitment so we can experience this timeshare while we were here and decide if we'd become members or not. Looks like that will not happen. So be warned, this resort is similar to the resorts here in Costa Rica. We had a presentation on lur last visit here and the same thing happened. These resorts make promises and misrepresent themselves. In the few presentations I attended in North America, this NEVER happened. Timeshares promised rewards and they always gave them Be warned, it happens here in Costa Rica. Be careful and do not waste your time of your vacation on touring Villas Sol.
