My daughter is 12 years old and she has never had a birth certificate before. Charlotte was born at home and was taken to Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland after she was born. This year, she needed her birth certificate to go to high school. I got it on this site without any problem. I don't know what people had to deal with this company, but I personally had a good experience. I completed the application form from my comfortable couch at home.

I paid $68 in December 2022. Said I would receive by May 5,2023. Checked on it periodically- always in progress. In April the record/order number stated "no longer valid@. Emailed numerous times. No response. Attempted to call many times. Impossible to get through. This is a scam.

Don't waste your money this place takes forever to send your birth certificate. I sent in all my doc on March 1 and on March 23 they sent me an email saying My certificate would come at the end of May! I ordered my sons birth certificate from vitalchek and it took 3 business days! I paid the same price and it's the same city! Order from vitalchek they update you on every step. This place is terrible! 3 months is ridiculous! Wish I would have read the reviews before I ordered.

I thought I was in vitalchek to order my docs. Stupid me for not paying attention. They basically put your responses in a form for you to print out, notarize and mail in with a check to cover the cost for your records. I paid $40 to these jokers and vitalcheck is $37.95, which covers the cost of the document, it is electronically submitted and you get your docs mailed to you after processing.

I'm so pissed at myself for falling for this crap scam site that makes them look like vitalchek.

Tip for consumers:
Block the site. This is a SCAM

I do not understand why it takes so long to get a birth certificate. The town I grew up in a person just goes to the health department and with in 15 minutes they have a birth certificate. Unfortunately I was born in another state and had to go thru VitalCheck to get it. 125 business days from the date I ordered it... They told me I should have by Feb 13th 2023. But when I call I am told March 2nd... this is bull crap.

I googled birth certificates online and this showed up in the search results, what seemed legit at the time wasn't clear to me until AFTER I already paid them. They just fill out an online PDF form for you and send that to you, it's still up to you to print, notarize and mail to the vital records office at whatever state you need your certificate from. It's a total sham! I've completed a request for refund, we'll see if they refund me or not.

Tip for consumers:
DON'T USE THIS SITE EVER go to the state government vital records website and see who they use for an online vendor if any.

My son placed an order for a birth certificate which I paid for on my visa card (big mistake). After we placed the order and paid with my Visa card VitalChek then requested additional documentation from my son which we sent. Then VitalChek notified us that there was a discrepancy with the mailing address and the payment address. We contacted VitalChek and their reply was that Maryland Vital Statistics are an out of house agency and that we need to contact the Maryland agency ourselves. The site says that if we cannot supply the proper documentation that they will issue a refund after 15 days minus what ever the charges are for the search by the agency. Now we have no certificate and we have paid VitalChek to do absolutely nothing with no other option but to wait out the 15 days and hope for a refund. VitalChek is a third party company working on behalf of the State of Maryland that is suppose to process applications for customers seeking vital certificates (birth certificate in our case). It is a disgrace and total waste of time to use VitalChek and the State of Maryland should stop using VitalChek immediately and handle the Vital Statistics Department research themselves instead of wasting customers time and money on non-delivering third party company. We are totally disgusted with the situation concerning VitalChek and caution others to try to find an alternative to using VitalChek. I don't know how to include proof of purchase without showing our personal information so our credibility rating will be low. All I can say is we live in South Carolina and are originally from Maryland. Best of luck to all.

Tip for consumers:
Never use VitalChek. You will have a horrible and very frustrating experience.

Since this website was listed on the paperwork to get my child's birth certificate to use a credit card instead of check, I thought this would be credible. It is not! All they do is take your money. Just send the check to the office of vital statistics yourself. That's what you end up having to do anyway. Just cut out losing $60 to these scam artists like I did. Shame on them and the state for providing their information! Should be a 0 star review!

This company takes your money and then they send you an email telling you to both send the prefilled forms and even more money to the state department where the document you need comes from. So in other words, I paid $50.00 for them to locate the correct state form to prefill with info I filled out on their website. That's it. You do the rest, including paying additional fees to that state department and mailing it all. I feel duped. I have ordered copied of my birth certificate in the past where you paid them to do all the work and then it's mailed, but it must have been a similarly named company and I forgot. That's my fault, but this particular company is expensive for basically doing nothing but providing the correct form. You would be better off calling around and/or finding the form online and filling it out yourself. You'll save 25-50 bucks.

Tip for consumers:
that all they do is prefill a form for you.

It a disgrace that some states only use VitalChek as it's source to order important documents (ex. Death certificate) because VitalChek is unable to get the document to you any sooner than over a month. The only phone number they give wastes your time because your on hold for an hour or more just waiting for someone to pick up. Your basically helpless after they take your money. Why can't we just call a county office like a normal business?

I paid $42.00 for them to tell me how to apply for the Pa birth certificate. It's a pure rip off! Be Aware! BBB should crack down on these people. Always someone looking into your wallet.

They took my 47 dollars and have done nothing. I thought I was using Vital Chek. It turns out they just fill out an application for you to print and return and they haven't even done that. I asked for a refund via email 2 times with no response I want my money back. I'm about to dispute the charge with my credit card company, but I wanted to give them the ability to make it right first.

Based upon the information I supplied to Vital Records, I received a completed PDF form for a fee of $47. I was then instructed to send this form to the State for processing. I found out later that the same PDF form is available from the State for FREE. Vital records is nothing more than a form preparation site. No birth certificate is supplied. I have requested a refund. Let's see what happens!

Don't waste your money or your time here I've been waiting 3 months now for my birth certificate they can't it find nor the actual dhs that they send just your application too can't find it either. Now they are telling me I can't get a full refund. If your going to request a new birth certificate you don't even need to do the application that's why it cost 120 something. I highly recommend you actually go to the state dhs website and order just your birth certificate from there will just cost you anywhere between $25-40 bucks. That what I had to do you just have a wait a little bit. Please don't waste your time with these people they even blocked my number so that I could stop calling but soon as I called private I got right through to them. They lied and told me they didn't block my number.

Tip for consumers:
Don’t waste your money they just do the application. Just go to the actual state dhs website

This is a service that sends instructions on how to go about requesting records. They do not request records on your behalf, and their fee(s) do not include the cost of records. I placed an order an hour ago and when I received the confirmation email, I fully understood that there would be additional fees from them and/or the state where I was requesting records. I requested an immediate refund, and will edit this once I receive feedback.

Edit: Received refund confirmation next day.

Like everyone else that has used them they are a complete SCAM. Why our government hasn't done anything about them amazes me. No matter what the cost I will contact an attorney and file a lawsuit. They will have to pay for court cost and my attorneys fees and refund my money and pay me punitive damages. Maybe that will shut them down.

This is a worthless company, needs to be shut down. The site states 24 to 72 hrs, but from when? They will take your money in seconds and you have no way to contact them. All of my e-mails to them has came back as undelivered mail. Had to give them a one star rating, I wish I could give them a negative rating like they deserve.

Being a single mother is more complicated than it may seem. You have to take care of everything. I was in trouble because I didn't have the time to go to the Health Offices here in Atlanta. I needed my daughter's birth certified, as she wanted to join the cheerleader team from her school. This company did what it had to do: process the document. If you want to stop losing your time, I would check out this service.

I would not use this to get your vital records. There are more places out there. They charged 47 dollars to get the paperwork. Just contact the state itself. Mine was about 15 dollars total that's including the payment to the state. When you try to contact them there is no answer via telephone or email which they send you to when you call. My strong advice LEAVE THEM ALONE!

It's high time that someone tells the truth. Sometimes circumstances are different for each person, but what I know is that I have my vital record. That's why I decided to write about my experience. I see that some people had problems with that, but that wasn't me. This company did a great job, they fulfilled my emergency, as I was in a rush to get my birth certificate. But there's also a but. Apparently, my document was about to arrive late Monday but it did on Friday. This kind of pissed me off, but in the end, it didn't complicate my situation.

Save yourself $47 and go to "VitalChek", not "Vitalrecordscertificates", which looks very similar. They take your money and send you a pdf file of a birth certificate application. That is it! I'm not sure if the application was even the right one. I filled it out and sent it to Michigan, but it's been two months now and nothing. They do not send you any follow up emails, and there is no way to contact them. On their page, under "Contact" you send a message, and it comes back as "undeliverable". Trust me, it's a scam. Go to "VitalChek"! I already reported them to the BBB. Hope that helps this company shut down so that can't con any more people.
