“Listing and reviews deleted without warning”

Between nuisance phone calls from Yell.com trying to get you to buy advertising, to their deleting my business listing and all of my reviews without any warning, Yell.com has proven to be the worst review site I've used. I spent 30 minutes trying to get my deleted listing re-listed via their online chat, but nothing happened despite promises. I've now deleted Yell.com from my feedback requests from clients.

I had a free website that appeared in the top 6-8 in Google searches even though I am a complete novice at s. E. o. Yell convinced me they could do better and promised the very expensive site they built for me would rank higher than my old one. It bombed, and rarely features on page 1 despite all their lies and fake promises. Apparently this is what they do all the time. When I tried to cancel they told me I was bound by a contract and then when the contract period ended they carried on taking a monthly fee. They are no better than the scammers we are all constantly warned about.

Tip for consumers:
Their web design service amounts to a scam and they keep taking my money even though they agreed to stop when the contract period ended

Straight to the point, made an instalments plan with Yell to build me an e-commerce website using their so called "advanced" website plan, so at this point i'm paying instalment plan + website hosting and "maintenance", (it sounds hilarious at this point). After 3 weeks they sent me the "advanced website" and all i can see is a landing page with a few words and some buttons, (outrageous right?) you have FREE Wix templates with more content than that (and they build their websites using Wix), the irony. After talking to the "professional" building my website and giving them instructions on how i want it, the answer was this "we can't build the website according to your instructions", this after i've signed the contract.

Great I've been scammed, "should have listened to those people on the reviews" that was my first thought.
Now i just have to build the website myself, which i did.
The contract ends FINALLY after one year!. My first thought was, i'll call them to transfer the ownership of the website to me, because until this point a lot of the website settings you can't use because you're NOT the owner of the website THEY are.

After spending almost £1000 these people tell me they will NOT transfer the website to me, because i've only paid for the building process of the website. I was like, YES i've paid for that, YOU build a website for ME, so, after payment is done what you've built is passed down to the person who have paid for that service ME. Just like a property, you pay someone to build you a property after it is built the owner who paid for it take possession. But guess what i just keep getting the same answer over and over. I can't even have access to the website settings to duplicate the website THAT I BUILT and save the work that I'VE DONE. Months of work just thrown in the bin.
Will have to do it all over again from scratch.

STAY WELL AWAY FROM THESE SCAMMERS. YOU WILL END UP LOSING YOUR MONEY, YOUR TIME AND YOUR PRECIOUS WORK.

I received a call from a Yell sales man who was very good at his job. Sticking to his script which had been very well thought out and designed by the compliance staff. The salesman made strong points to make Yell seem much better than they have proven to be, I.e 'Yell have 50+million people visit the directory every year, which is drastically better than Checkatrade or Mybuilder who have 4.5million and 3million'.

Being a new company I have to make sure I spend money wisely advertising my services. I don't feel spending £80 a month on a service which has generated one new lead is by any means sufficient. Checkatrade manage 3-5 new leads a week and Google SEO optimisation is about the same. Which then compared to Yell's 1 in 4 months is insane, especially when you take into account Yell charge more than the Google SEO optimisation and the same as Checkatrade.

After speaking to the customer services team about the lack of leads I received they looked into my ad then and there with me on the phone. They told me my pictures were good as was the description. The only thing they could think of to help generate new leads is to customise a new banner to make the ad look more aesthetically pleasing. Why this wasn't done in the first place when they helped me create the ad sounds unprofessional and lazy. Since the new banner I have yet to receive any new leads...

The fact Yell made me sign up to a 12 month contract when they know their directory is severely flawed is just deceitful business. Instead of spending money to try to make their business model change with the times, they instead get businesses involved with a 12 month contract which they full well know isn't going to generate the companies a sufficient amount of business.

I have pleaded with Yell to remove me from their directory to no avail. I won't be paying for a service which doesn't work and if Yell feel they have to keep threatening me with a debt collections company then that's what they'll have to do but that won't change my mind and I wont be bullied into paying for something which DOES NOT WORK.

Looking back on some of the points the salesman made I see how what they said was suppose to mislead me. For example, people go to Checkatrade and Mybuilder solely for tradesman whereas people would go to Yell for anything from a barbers to a train station... When you take this into account the more realistic comparison could be Checkatrade have 4.5M+ people a year visit their platform for tradesman whereas Yell have 100,000 people look through their platform for tradesman.

This review is about yell.com. Supposedly a website where you can leave reviews about businesses, anyway, I was scammed by daltonsbusiness.com in August and I decided to write a review on yell, anyway daltonsbusiness contacted yell paid a bribe and yell.com removed my review. They sent me a message on Monday telling me my review has been removed

Sitejabber is the only place where I can leave an unbaised review, all these other places like yell.com are bought off
