About Me

I putter around with the family computers, diagnosing issues and helping my peeps to navigate the "internets".

How I Can Help

I really have a problem with online scammers, especially those taking advantage of people who are not tech savvy and are vulnerable.

I agree with other reviewer that the site is expensive and you need to read the fine print about what you're signing up for, but where else can you get access to so many records all in one place? That being said the information Ancestry has access to including easy to review census information, passport applications, and ship manifests to find immigration records has made learning information about our family easy. I love getting a new "leaf" on a family member's name with new hints as more records are transcribed and made available. I agree that there is a lot of duplicate information and sometimes junk in other people's family trees, but I just use those trees as a jumping off point and look for the original records and source data. I've spent many rewarding hours tracing our trees backwards and it is a great resource.

This business is a ripoff if not an outright scam. They talked a family friend into paying $699 for 12 months of "Complete Home Network Solution". When she had a problem with her computer 2 months later and called they told her she could pay them an additional $349 to "boost speed" and install anti-malware software that she could have gotten for a fraction of the price if not free. They also said they'd "block csrss. Exe" which was a legitimate process running on her computer. They have an F rating on the Better Business Bureau website and you have to wonder why all the 5-star ratings of this business here on sitejabber are by people with hardly any other reviews and with terrible English, probably phony profiles. Stay away from this company!
