I bought a Vaughan-Bassett bedroom set in February 2023 online from FurniturePick. The finish, color and texture of the bedroom set slapped down on my curb was grossly different from the stock photos FurniturePick used to sell it, which were the same as the stock photos at Vaughan-Bassett's website at that time. In addition to the finish being different, it had several other damage issues. From that time through June 19 I went back and forth with both Vaughan-Bassett and FurniturePick with regard to my issues with the finish, color and texture looking NOTHING AT ALL like the stock photos used to sell it.

FurniturePick and Vaughan-Bassett teamed up to tell me that what I received looked like the stock photos and I had no case for a complaint. And, I came to find out, they were right. I was forwarded this little gem from Vaughan-Bassett's VP of Customer Service, which apparently was in the fine print of my bill of sale:

"item(s) do NOT qualify as Non-damaged or Non-defective Return if: a) YOU received delivery of an item(s) with a finish, color, or texture that is different from what YOU saw at the Furniture Pick website, any website other than Furniture Pick, at a physical furniture store, or recommendations YOU received from a Furniture Pick sales representative. Finishes and colors online may not accurately represent the true color or pattern. YOU accept liability for YOUR purchase."

Per this clause, Vaughan-Bassett can send out ANYTHING they please with regard to the finish, color and texture of the furniture they advertise using deceptive photos. The customer has two choices upon receipt. Keep it, or pay a 25% restocking fee, in addition to return shipping fees, to return it.

I have a presentation on YouTube at https://youtu.be/rMK1j5nKvvI titled "Vaughan-Bassett Uses Deceptive Stock Photos to Sell Low Quality Furniture" that delves into the nitty gritty detail of my experience, along with the stock photos of the discontinued style my purchase was based off, the new stock photos of the "new version" of the bedroom set that match mine ( FurniturePick updated theirs 5/23/23 and Vaughan-Bassett updated theirs 6/20/23 - keep in mind this is MONTHS after they were aware of my situation and the devastation it was causing me), and photos of the bedroom set I received. I'd bet a million to one that both Vaughan-Bassett and FurniturePick would still be using the old stock photos if I had not ridden them for nearly half a year to right the situation.

I accepted an offer from Vaughan-Bassett giving me a $850 credit on my sale on June 19. I DID NOT find this a fair settlement, but it was crystal clear Vaughan-Bassett had zero intention of doing anything more. I absolutely abhor the furniture, but I am stuck with it because there is no way in hell I would break even selling it on Craigslist, and I do not have the funds to replace it. It was a huge splurge for me. I plan to file a complaint with the Virginia attorney general (Vaughan-Bassett manufactures in Virginia) and pursue legal action. I find it hard to believe that there is no threshold for deceptive advertisement at the caliber Vaughan-Bassett engages, and if there isn't, my case reflects a solid justification for setting a threshold to protect buyers.

Coming out of this wretched experience, I will leave it at this: Vaughan-Bassett and their retail partners are snakes that deserve one another. Their fine print policies give them complete immunity from any blow back with regard to their fake stock photos. I will NEVER purchase furniture again from ANY retailer who sells furniture by Vaughan-Bassett or ANYTHING Bassett for that matter. My eyes are wide open with regard to the FRAUDULENT ADVERTISING and SKETCHY FINE PRINT POLICIES they use to screw over customers - you KNOW everything under the BASSETT umbrella has got to have these same clauses built into their contracts. My favorite moment in the whole episode was when Vaughan-Bassett's VP of Customer Service sent me the fine print saying there was absolutely no recourse for customers with regard to the finish, color, and texture of the low quality furniture they send out upon deceiving buyers with fake stock photos. - "YOU accept liability for YOUR purchase." Yes, I most certainly have. And now I am going to warn every person under the sun about my Vaughan-Bassett furniture buying experience so that customers innocently shopping furniture on the internet are aware of Bassett's fine print policies. When I learned the truth about what I believed to be a renown and trusted brand, it blew me out of the water. I had never heard of FurniturePick, but any questions I had about their selling venue went up in smoke when I saw they were selling the Bassett brand. I looked at the beautiful stock photos at both websites for MONTHS prior to my purchase. And now I am reminded of just how wrong I was every time I catch a glimpse of my Freddy Kruger bedroom set. Which is often, as my house is the size of a shoe box and the bedroom set makes up 80% of my furniture. Don't let this happen to you. Skip all furniture and all furniture retailers associated with "Bassett" - the photos I am posting and my YouTube presentation are all you need to understand that what you see is not what you get. Ask EVERY furniture company for their fine print policies before you give them your hard earned cash. Ask if the stock photos being used are of the "current version". Ask SPECIFIC QUESTIONS about the finish, color and texture (in addition to any other aspect of the transaction where you have doubt), and record conversations/document every email so you have a recourse to fall back on. Tell the furniture retailer that your purchase is contingent upon seeing photos of the EXACT FURNITURE YOU WILL RECEIVE PRIOR TO IT BEING SHIPPED. If they give you push back on any of these things, take it as a sign and find a more trustworthy furniture buying venue.

Furniture Pick uses misrepresentative photos online in their adverts to sell furniture that looks completely different upon arrival. In addition to my furniture arriving damaged (including backs ripped off the 2 dressers I purchased, a gouge so deep a chunk was out of the dresser, and an off color stain on the side of the nightstand), THE FINISH ON EVERY PIECE OF FURNITURE I RECEIVED WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE BED RAILS WAS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM THE PHOTOS FURNITURE PICK USES TO SELL THE FURNITURE. The furniture in the advert had a smooth white and gray wood grain finish - what I received has a rough finish (if you run your fingers across the finish, you will get a splinter) that is scratched up to high hell, gouged, pockmarked, gummed up and spray painted so poorly they didn't bother to protect the overspray. I will upload photos so you can see the difference in finish between the bed rail (the advertised finish) and the finish on every other piece of furniture I received from Furniture Pick.

Now, get this. When I initially contacted Furniture Pick about the furniture being different from the photos, they informed me of a policy they have (posted on their site somewhere), that allows them to sell furniture that doesn't look like the photos. Have you ever heard of anything like this in your life? When I was going through their claim department for help, they requested photos from at least 10 feet back. You know why? Furniture Pick's policy is if the furniture you receive looks enough like the photos they use from 10 feet back, it somehow makes their shady, deceptive business practices all good. In my case, it doesn't apply, because my furniture still looks absolutely horrid from 10 feet back. I am posting some of the deceptive stock photos Furniture Pick uses, along with stock photos used by OTHER RETAILERS who are honest and have updated pictures of the Sawmill version I am stuck with (I never saw these photos or knew there was a "new" Sawmill Alabaster 2-Tone finish until after the nightmare of receiving the furniture, when I scoured the internet for information). One retailer does use some photos of the old model, but they include a disclaimer that the bedroom set will not match the photo on every single one on those photos. Had Furniture Pick used this retailer's honest stock photos - never in a million years would I have been interested in the pieces I purchased. But I know now when it comes to Furniture Pick's misrepresented merchandise, that is the whole point. Even in Furniture Pick's stock photos from a distance, the smooth wood grain white and gray finish is distinguishable (and there's this thing called ZOOM buyers use to shop - maybe they should remove that feature from their adverts, seeing what you're zooming in on isn't even the merchandise that gets delivered). No way does my set, loaded down with scratches, pockmarks and gouges, look anything like what they picture. Even in the far away nightstand photo I am posting, you can plainly see that it is all mocked up. The bed and mirror don't have the scratches and gouges, but they are spray-painted white and the finish is still rough and splintery. Furniture Pick must expect their customers to blindfold themselves (and in my case, wear gloves to prevent splinters) anytime we are within 10 feet of their junk furniture.

TO THIS DAY, Furniture Pick is using the same misrepresentative stock photos to sell the same merchandise they sold to me - despite the fact they have been aware of just how misrepresentative those photos are since February due to my awful experience and devastation. I was told by their claims department (that rep has been very polite to me - I know it is corporate there driving the corruption) that the version of the furniture set in their online advert (that I thought I was buying) had been discontinued by Vaughn-Bassett, and there was not a single piece of the discontinued set (replaced by the crappy version I received) in existence available for purchase ANYWHERE. Yet they continue to use the same set of fraudulent advert photos. To this very day.

Additionally, Furniture Pick does not have any sort of established guidelines within their two party relationship with the delivery company they contract with, where it concerns the day of customer delivery. You know why? Because once that delivery company drives off into the sunset (after telling you it is not their responsibility to wait around for an hour while you de-pallet and unwrap everything to check for concealed damage - the furniture is YOURS. Furniture Pick sends you an email saying that the delivery person has to to wait even if they have a bad attitude (when I read that in the instructions, I thought it was just a frivolous statement - boy was I wrong). Apparently, Furniture Pick has nothing in writing nor have they communicated it verbally to the delivery company that the driver is expected to wait. Instead, Furniture Pick expects their customers to play the role that they, as the retailer, should own. Why should their customers have to deal with the bad attitudes of the drivers, or demand that they stay until everything is open? If Furniture Pick is aware of their 'bad attitudes', why continue to contract with that particular delivery company? I called the delivery company about this disconnection weeks later, and a manager kindly reaffirmed it is not in their contract with Furniture Pick to wait for customers to open the merchandise and check it over - they are only obligated to stay until the outside of the boxes everything is delivered in are checked for damage.

Why would anyone shop at a place where what you think you are buying is as drastically different as what I received? They have a POLICY STATING THEY CAN DO THIS TO YOU SOMEWHERE IN THE FINE PRINT. I will never buy furniture online again, thanks to my hellish experience with Furniture Pick. The only thing they are good at is deception. Do not trust this business, it is the most expensive mistake I have ever made ($4600). I was so confident in my transaction that I sold my old bedroom set off once I placed my order - my new bedroom set is garbage compared to what I previously had. If I had rejected it I would have been sleeping on the floor with my belongings all over the place (which in hindsight would have been a much better alternative than keeping it). I wish I read the Furniture Pick reviews I came across AFTER my experience BEFORE I purchased through Furniture Pick (there are many and they are absolutely overwhelmingly negative). Moving forward I plan to do everything I can to communicate my experience with Furniture Pick to other buyers, so they do not have to live with the same regret I am. Furniture Pick is a complete scam. Additionally, no one from Furniture Pick has gotten back to me about the trouble I am having leaving reviews on their website for each piece of furniture I purchased, or about leaving a testimonial for Furniture Pick in general. I wonder why? I'd think my $4600 purchase of garbage furniture from them has bought me the right to leave my feedback at their website.

For the most part I have always had positive experiences shopping Thredup, their representatives have always been kind and helpful, and as a thrift store junkie I am addicted to their website. When I have had problems with their merchandise they have always been responsive and professional.

I bought several items via a bundle a week or so ago. I noticed that Thredup had cancelled the item I was looking forward to the most. I contacted Thredup support to see why it was cancelled and was messaged "When an order is packed, our team completes one final inspection to ensure that you're receiving items that meet our strict quality standards. In this case, we found that item Cotton Candy Romper had a previously undetected flaw that did not meet our standards. To avoid any disappointment, we removed the item from your order and provided you with a refund on 4/25/22."

The item was white and the pictures were crystal clear (this is not always the case). The item was marked as having gentle wear, which I was fine with. I did not see any other issue, and the garment was perfectly visible front and back.

Supposedly Thredup donates their defective merchandise to charity. I do not understand why, if the item was so defective that they couldn't sell it, they would not send the item to me with the rest of my order. They obviously had it right there as they put my order together. I think someone snatched it for themself. I know other buyers who have had an item identified as defective by Thredup at the point of shipment, and in those cases they were credited their money but still sent the item. If I was sent the item and felt it was too defective to use, I would just donate it like Thredup claims they do anyhow. I do not expect freebees, but I really wanted this item and based on the scenario that they couldn't sell it anyhow, why wouldn't they pass it along? It'd be a totally different situation if it was a matter of the item being lost or sold on one of their other venues and no longer available.

Let me emphasize that I do not think that Thredup has a workforce of sketchy scam artists. I think their customer service does an excellent job, especially for the scale of business they conduct. You will find bad actors in every work force, and that is what I am guessing happened here based on the scenario. My hope is that this isn't a normal occurance.

I did share these thoughts with the Thredup representative I conversed with, but wanted to post a review in case this was happening to other people. I am hoping sharing my experience with other shoppers will help heal my mourning over the jumpsuit that could have been.

Thank you for taking the time to read my review!

This company will not give me my money back for 2 items I purchased as a result of their faulty product listings at their website. These were accessory products that ended up not being compatible with a Scan & Cut machine I purchased from another vendor, but SewingMachinesPlus had them listed as compatible. I have been writing them for months trying to get my money back, and that is after they put me through the wringer calling one of their tech workers that knew absolutely nothing about the issues I was having - and he did not know it was an issue of the purchased products being compatible with my Scan & Cut machine version. Then SewingMachinesPlus told me their product vendor said I should call Brother (manufacturer of the products) direct to troubleshoot the issue. The Brother rep (who was great) told me they were incompatible with my machine and told me I needed to pursue the return through SewingMachinesPlus - which I pretty much assumed would be the response to begin with. Most recently, instead of sending me back my money they sent me ONE OF THE TWO INCOMPATIBLE PRODUCTS I sent back to them. Their staffers did manage to send me a return label for that, but apparently they don't have plans to refund me the money for the 2 products I returned. Within all the chaos, one of their reps quoted a return amount that didn't add up to the price I paid for the products I purchased and sent back. I had used a discount coupon that gave me 10% off - so factoring in that (I did not factor that in initially), one item should have been $22.49 and the other should have been $17.99, and the manager quoted $12.59 and $17.99. I have yet to see any refund activity, so it doesn't much matter they got the amounts wrong. What's really unbelievable is they have a Shopperapproved review rating of 4.7 - apparently Shopperapproved is a review mechanism businesses pay into for false ratings. I see no place where I can review my own experience with SewingMachinesPlus via the Shopperapproved site. DO NOT do business with this company, you will regret it, they are absolutely incompetent. They can't even add up two numbers on a calculator. Their prices are not mind blowing, you can find the same products for the same costs via other stores. I had never heard of them when I ordered so I didn't know what I know now.

Tip for consumers:
Don't. If you experience issues, even if it is their fault, you will never see your money again.

Products used:
None of them, they were all misadvertised and useless to me.

Why are sites like this allowed to remain up? Complete and total scam. It's mind blowing there aren't protections in place when a site is proven to be fraudulent. I'm grateful Sitejabber exists for this very reason, but many people do not know to be skeptical. It's awful and I can understand how people get tricked. Same goes for phone and internet scams. Someone tried to threaten me for money via an email, I notified local and federal authorities, the feds never got back to me and the local authority told me to not forward him the threatening emails as he didn't want his email bugged. When I emailed back to see if he at least logged the threat he didn't bother to respond. My mom knows which organizations to sue at the local and federal level if my body is ever found in a ditch. And no, I am not fearful for my life (the threat didn't even pertain to me), but it'd be nice to know the threats had been logged in case anything ever did happen - it would take authorities 10 seconds to make a note and I would think that given it was an AOL.com email address, an identity could have easily been pursued.

Tip for consumers:
This website is a scam. Shipping time is never and refund policy is never.

Here is what I was shopping for:
https://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/product_view/22558653

They have a button to add it to your Amazon wishlist that is not even connected to Amazon. Very sleek - this cart is $170 at Home Depot. They priced it at $100. I can see how people fall for the scams, they price things below market price but not so low it's obvious.

I bought a 2017 MacBook Pro laptop from this seller on eBay back in March 2020, to replace a 2014 MacBook Pro I owned that was buggy. It came with a 6 month warranty.
From the get go this seller's laptop had issues, but these issues didn't impact the functionality and since it came guaranteed for 6 months, I was willing to hold on to it and try to remedy the issues. The battery on it burned down quicker than my 2014 MacBook Pro and it also overheated more often.
I messaged the seller about the issues I was having, and was put in touch with their "expert MacBook Pro" tech guy. I was literally troubleshooting a $1000 laptop I had just purchased. He sent me crap solutions he looked up on Google, all of which I could have found myself. No "expert" advice. I tried recalibrating the battery 5 separate times with no success. Towards the end of our communication, when all his "solutions" failed, I told him that I was comfortable keeping it for the time being, because of the 6 month warranty it came with. I told him if I was unhappy with it at any point during the 6 month warranty period I would be returning it.
Towards the end of the warranty period, I reached out to the seller to ask if they would be willing to help me troubleshoot it going forward (after the 6 month warranty time period) if it became buggier than it already was. I never received a response. When I didn't receive a response, I then sent a message to the seller that I wanted to return it. Once more, I did not receive a response. Again, this is all within the 6 month warranty period that the laptop came with. The seller's 6 month warranty period is a gimmick.
I am stuck with this garbage (at present, the screen light is starting to fail) but am hopeful other potential buyers will read my review and steer clear of this seller. Not only are their laptops subpar junk, they do not honor their warranties at all. EBay protection runs out after 30 days, so you can't go that route to file a dispute. I tried going through PayPal and Discovercard, but those 2 companies just deflected to one another and offered no buyer protection. Thankfully Discovercard provided me with this seller's business details (I could not find this information on the eBay seller profile). This seller knows exactly what they are doing - and they are getting away with it. DO NOT BUY THEIR PRODUCTS. They will scam you. Hopefully other buyers will learn the truth about this seller from my $1000 mistake doing business with them.

Don't waste your time on this site. Coachoutlet.com gives you the illusion that once you add an item to your bag you have 15 minutes to complete the transaction. The illusion is reinforced by a potential buyer being unable to add items that are in other shoppers' carts and being told to check back later to see if these items become available. In actuality, having the item in your bag means NOTHING, because when you go to check out (within the 15 minutes you supposedly have to purchase the items you have added to your cart - you are literally put on a timer) Coach Outlet will then tell you "SORRY SOME OF THE ITEMS IN YOUR ORDER ARE NOW OUT OF STOCK. PLEASE ADJUST THE QUANTITIES OR REMOVE THESE ITEMS". It's not the item being unavailable that angers me - it's the time wasted checking back for the item to be available and being able to add it to the cart, only to find out you wasted your time and effort because the items become unavailable AFTER YOU HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MOVE THEM TO YOUR CART. Coach is a swanky enough brand to spend the capital on accurate inventory controls that can be reflected at their active Coach Outlet website. IF THERE IS ANY QUESTION WHETHER AN ITEM IS AVAILABLE, THEN DO NOT ALLOW THAT ITEM TO BE ADDED TO A SHOPPERS CART. What a waste of consumer time, especially when the time relates to picking out presents for the holidays for someone else, and the consumer has to go start all over again looking for something new for their friend or family member. It is especially annoying with the item that becomes unavailable was supposed to go with matching accessories in a consumer's cart. Especially when that item that miraculously sold out while it was in the consumer's cart was the main present.
