This spring I purchased an Angel GT2 rear tire for my 2006 Honda ST1300 as the Original Angel GT has been updated. I have purchased and worn out 11 sets of Angel GT tires on 3 motorcycles I own. I was skeptical about the GT2 but I LOVE the Angel GT and the GT was no longer available, so I bought it. I didn't even get 4000 miles out of the tire, which is 20% less than I have routinely experienced with the the GT. It was run in hot conditions, on aggressive terrain, at high speed for long periods on a loaded motorcycle so it was a real test of the tire. It did not pass. Not only did the tire not wear as long as the GT, it skids more readily with aggressive braking/downshift. I won't be buying Angel GT2 tires after 10 years of nothing but Pirelli. In my experience, upgrading an existing motorcycle tire model is sometimes an error. The Pirelli Angel GT worked GREAT in the rain and it appears that by lessening the size of the contact patch with the two grooves in the Angel GT2, life of the tire was negatively impacted. I will no longer be able to recommend the Pirelli Angel GT to my friends both on social media and in person. I am sorry to lose the Angel GT.
