I purchased a Boston Terrier puppy from a breeder in Lansing, MI. They have a nice website (rightplacetostart.com) and seemed legitimate. I sent them $600 by Zelle - the only way they accept payment - to purchase Bertie who is still listed on their website. The name they provided me on the Zelle account was Jennifer Amabo. Ostensibly is was her husband that was communicating with me, however.

They offered to pay to have Bertie shipped to me and said that they would make arrangements. All of our communications were via text from the following phone number - *******214.

The following day December 31,2021, I was contacted via email by ultrasafemovers.com. The first email communication from them was notification that shipping had been paid by Steve Warren using the same phone number and that the puppy would be delivered that same evening. Within 3 minutes, I received a second email saying that upon review, I did not have a shipping crate for the puppy and would either need to buy one or rent one from them. The cost of the least expensive rental option was a $100.00 crate that would require a $900 deposit ($1,000 total). Again, they wanted me to send them money via Zelle. We went back and forth about sending money via Zelle and that it offered me no consumer protection. They sent me their signed agreement saying that the $900 would be refunded once the puppy was delivered.

Worried about the safety of this supposed puppy I had purchased, I finally gave in and sent them the money. Once the money cleared their account, they sent me notification that the puppy would arrive in SLC (I live nearby) at 1:30 am on New Years Day. It would then be available for pick up at 8:00 am. They told me they would provide me with the pick up location once the puppy arrived. At 2 am, I woke and sent a request for more information. At 7 am I did the same. It is now 9 am and I realize that this was an elaborate scam. I have tried to communicate with Steve Warren or Jennifer Amabo at *******214 with no response. The shipping company is not responding to my queries that were sent to *******@ultrasafemovers.com. They do not have a phone number. All queries must be by email. They have no phone number. Please beware of these scammers who play on the heartstrings of others to cheat them.

Tip for consumers:
Don't pay people by Zelle unless you know them or can validate that they are legitimate.
