Northbound Gear is a dropshipping company founded by Scotland-raised, now Vancouver-based brothers Sunny and Navdeep Gosal, and (later) Australian James Harrisson. I have interacted with this company on numerous occasions seeking information on the company background and business practices, and I have received almost no responses to my inquiries, but have pieced together their story with publicly-available information.

Northbound Gear was founded in the fall of 2019 by the Gosal brothers as their 4th dropshipping company, and 5 e-business overall. The company they founded immediately before this one was called HobbyKrafts.com (you should go see what people thought of that company, check its online reviews). Having decided a hodgepodge approach was too much work, and after angering a good number of their customers, they shuttered this shop in order to found Northbound Gear, something that is less work, and more scalable, everyone needs pants right? Now they are selling rebranded Gash Hao snowpants as their premier supposedly "designed in Canada" product, and other products mostly available on Aliexpress for less money. Their Made in Canada sweater is actually made by a company named Jerico, and is available for less directly from that manufacturer.

While they are affiliated with One Tree Planted (I contacted the organization) they do little else to supposedly "empower marginalized communities" and much of what is written on their website is greenwashed pablum. Returned items that are sent back to their Mailbox in a UPS Store in Surry, BC are supposedly given to the homeless, but I have never been given the name of any specific organization through which these donations are made, I would suspect they are not made at all.

One day, this company will disappear into thin air, and the Gosal brothers will begin another dropshipping business, as they believe this is their ticket to getting rich (and quick!). The positive reviews on this site are largely planted, forged, written by people at the company, whatever you want to call it, and are being used to promote their products and dupe unsuspecting members of the public. The reviews on their northboundgear.co website are almost entirely faked, and not a single one is less than 3-stars. Having learned from the bad reviews HobbyKrafts received, they started responding on SiteJabber and Trustpilot, and paying to access the advanced features, and planting faked reviews.

Sunny Gosal, the "designer" at Northbound Gear is not a clothing designer, he worked at Electronic Arts software company as a designer, so possibly the only thing designed in Canada about Northbound Gear might be the website, which is admittedly slicker than the average dropshipper. If you value your money, stay far away.
