The fact that they do not allow comments on their site or under their videos is very telling!

The site is laid out as platform built to allow sharing in a delightful community of video enthusiasts. But it isn't quite what it first appears.

The reason they do not encourage comments is because they have little or no interest in the feelings or opinions of their users. Their existence is to profit from us and not cooperatively share.

They thrive on the our desperation and once 'hooked', proceed to try to extract all they can from our viewing experiences.

As a child of the 80s, there are many shows of the 80s and 90s that I hold dear. Most of these are very difficult to get hold of and there lies the problem.

With so little alternatives I find myself consigned to the limited selection of viewing platforms online. Platforms that care little for the integrity of the content or quality of the viewing experience.

Dailymotion do not allow comments because they DO NOT WANT TO HEAR our opinions on the experience.

They are acutely aware of the value of the files they hold and our interest in their content. They know also how limited an access to some of this content exists so are assured of our patronage.

Watching an episode of American Gothic 1995 recently, I endured one of the worst online experiences I've ever had the miss fortune of suffering.

Painfully Enduring a succession of advertisements that diminished the pleasure, distracted from the narrative and disrupted the atmosphere. In fact for a 40-45 minute run time we endured no less than over 8 advert breaks.

Advertisements are supposed to be about selling or seducing the public into purchases of products or experiences. Something that cannot be achieved when forced upon us in such an aggressive and overly repetitive manner.

Dailymotion method of advertisements included in their videos is reflective of their entire ethos - Fishing.
Lure us, hook us and bash us with adverts.

With a collection of rare videos we cannot find elsewhere as the bait, they proceed to feed us advert after advert in onslaught.

Little care is taken to the quality (the recent episode I watched was back to front and terrible picture quality).

Some will probably say- if you don't like it, dont go on the site.

But as it's the only place I can find to watch certain shows from my youth at all there is little choice.
And I personally do not think that the fact they have these and others do not is an excuse to be so poor at what you do.

Any site that has no interest in their users opinions is one that doesn't deserve its place online.

Tip for consumers:
You may find great shows you cannot find anywhere else.

You will pay for this in poor quality and a barrage of incessant advertisement breaks that cut in approx every 5 mins.
Viewing is almost unbearable.

If only there was a mask invented to protect against companies like this!

Left a review on trust pilot where one of their team td me to call up to get the issue with my measly £5 being paid to me but as usual was just smoke and mirrors!

Spoke to 'Ruddi' who told me to "get to the point." and the manager 'john' is as helpful as Swiss cheese in rainstorm!

Not one of them has the smallest bit of customer service skills or empathy and they have STOLEN my money... scammers will scramble for any bit they can get!

Don't know if I'll ever see my money but by the time I do will not even be worth the effort!

DO NOT USE AT ANY COST!

The great thing about the internet, is that you can read the experiences of others.

MY ADVICE HERE IS TO READ THE REVIEWS!

Company has a habit cancelling acounts and not paying!

I'm still waiting for my £5 and not holding my breath...

Having uploaded several animated Gifs onto this colourful site and app, that foolish and over opptomistic side of me had expected some activity... but alas it was not to be!

In my first year or so I found a website where my Gifs do not seem to appear in any searches and 'helpful' pages if you are lost that read like the fine print on a contract!

But nothing could prepare me for the brilliance of their staff when after much searching (Giphy do not seem to think it nessasary to include a means of contacting them anywhere on the app or website) I finally found an email address on Google and engaged in a conversation with a member of the Giphy team to solve a technical issue.

Unfortunately, despite some apparent grasp of English and basic computer skills an afternoon spent requesting help proved little but an exhaustive test of patience.

This fruitless quest came when after accidentally discovering that users can, (if Giphy dain) to upgrade their account. And as someone who illustrates and creates his own animated Gifs, thought to apply for an 'artist' account.

After filling in all required fields, I was unable to open the tab for changing 'Avatar' and unable to have my application processed.

So emailing the team with Screenshots of everything, we engaged in a conversation.

I say conversation but in point of fact, it proved a circular discussion where we both in many various ways repeated our responses over an entire day.

My conclusion, is that for safety sake I'll keep my interaction with this company strictly limited to the most basic!

I would not trust these people with handling any banking or payment transactions, not bother to seek to upgrade or utilise any further applications.

Let's be honest, they are the best of a very limited lot!
The site is basic and that's for the best, the only sign of any dynamysm is from its users Gifs!
