I'm a photographer and purchased a WP theme from Photocrati several years ago. It worked for a while. Then, this year I found I could no longer update the copyright date in my footer. A simple task in the past via the WP dashboard where one can choose to customize theme. Only now, when I clicked on one of the areas to edit - footer, header, sidebar, etc. - nothing happened. So, my copyright date cannot be changed, let alone anything else.

I wasn't so concerned about anything other than the copyright date. When I contacted the Photocrati customer service, the ONLY thing they were concerned with was having me pay to 'join' their membership - basically a fee for service. I was shocked. This was just basic functionality and I didn't need or want to pay them for a year's worth of support as I planned on updating the theme to something else when I had time to do so. All I was asking was to have the theme WORK as purchased, which it no longer did. And Photocrati wouldn't life a finger unless I paid. Where I come from they call this 'extortion'.

I would advise anyone seeking a theme for their website to steer clear of Photocrati. Their themes are not easy to use in general, and I had problems from the start. But when the theme stopped functioning as it should, Photocrati just shrugged and left me flapping in the breeze. If I didn't want to 'pay up', then too bad. So I'm stuck now and will be forced to redevelop my entire site with a new theme, when I can carve out the time to do so.

Avoid this company when shopping for themes. Their products don't hold up. They talk a good line to get you in, but once they do, they leave you hanging after only a year. And paying for their annual support is like purchasing a new theme every year. Who wants to do that? Might as well buy a new theme. This company is basing its success on squeezing customers and that never works out in the long run. What goes around comes around.

Purchased a theme through these folks and could not get it to work. They referred me to the author of the theme and I had to contact them through this cumbersome login process on some other website. Very confusing and unhelpful. Tried to get a refund and ended up having to get my credit card company involved. Not a great experience.
