Kroger has made a huge mistake with their digital deal policy. Older people who don't use "smart" phones are upset and have stopped shopping there. I've talked to several. Kroger made another enormous blunder like their Scan, Bag Go fiasco.
The result? Empty stores. Inventory is way down. Vast empty spaces that used to have merchandise. The customers have gone. Sales are not down because customers have cut back. Kroger lied. Sales are down because customers are leaving and going to Walmart and Aldi's. Because of stupid corporate management that treats customers with disrespect.
But it's even worse. Kroger is now engaging in outright fraud and deception. Example: Yesterday I saw a big sign on the blueberries: one pint for $1.79. Great price. But then in fine print impossible to read because the sign is at waste level: digital deal only. Normal price $3.49. That's fraud. The fine print at waste level is meaningless, so the result is a false advertisement of $1.79.
At one time Kroger treated customers decently. If you didn't have a store coupon you could get the flyer at the customer service desk with all the coupons. Now, if you didn't think ahead and download coupons at home on your laptop, and don't have a smart phone, you are screwed. Kroger is driving away its once loyal customers. Including me. Shopped there since the 60s and remember how they used to treat customers.
How stupid.
