Internal hemorrhoids exist on the inside the rectum, and hemorrhoids that appear on the surrounding skin are considered external. External hemorrhoids are far more painful than internal ones, but there are methods for dealing with both. Read on to learn how to ease discomfort and resolve hemorrhoid problems.

Use ice and heat to easily deal with hemorrhoids at home. The cold will help shrink your hemorrhoid and the heat will promote healing. First, put ice on hemorrhoid for 10 minutes, then immediately follow up with 20 minutes of moist heat.

Witch hazel can relieve discomfort and pain caused by hemorrhoids. Witch hazel relieves pain because it shrinks hemorrhoid tissue. Apply the witch hazel with a cotton ball and leave on for 5 to 10 minutes, or add it to a sitz bath.

Ice can be used to reduce hemorrhoid pain. The pain of hemorrhoids can be excruciating. An ice pack will both decrease pain and reduce swelling. Every 10 minutes or so, switch the cold compress with a warm, moist heat source. Sitting in a warm bath and alternating with an ice pack application, can also help reduce pain and swelling of hemorrhoids to make you more comfortable.

Incorporate whole wheat products into your diet. It is better for your digestion and can be of particular importance when you suffer from hemorrhoids. Whole grains are also less likely to irritate your skin. By always making the whole grain choice, you will benefit your overall health greatly.

If you do not want to visit your doctor and pay for costly prescription medication, there are many all-natural treatments that can be administered in the comfort of your own home. Allowing yourself to soak in a sitz bath offers some relief. Limit your time in the tub to about 15 minutes, and repeat after each bowel movement. Avoiding scratching the area, as this can worsen the problem. You can try gently patting some witch hazel onto the affected area for a bit of relief. Eating lots of fiber-rich foods, and drinking plenty of water, are both very important. The water and fiber ensure a soft, easy to pass a bowel movement.

The introduction of this article started with two different kinds of hemorrhoids people can have. Many say that external hemorrhoids are more excruciating, though each variety necessitates treatment as well as preventive tactics. If you use these tips to learn more, you will be relieved from pain caused by hemorrhoids.
