About Me

A Retired, Customer Service / Client Relations Specialist of 45+ Years, both sides of 'The Pond', within Retail, Wholesale, Not-For-Profit, Logistics and Production Facilities. 'Gold Standard Service' and 'Quality Customer Service' are my Mantra.

How I Can Help

I write this from a Professional perspective and (more importantly) a Personal perspective. Notably, given Covid-19, and a Senior, it was strongly advised we avoid Areas / Establishments frequented by Large Crowds; Mitigate our exposure. Consequently, thus I made the majority of my Purchases On-Line. I learned VERY quickly, the shocking deterioration in Customer Service Levels, and what Canadians are putting up with. It is about time we speak 'With Our Wallets'.

When the Pandemic started up in earnest, keeping in mind I am a Senior on an essentially 'Fixed Income', I made the choice to purchase my Groceries On-Line vs. going into large Stores and Malls; I chose Walmart Canada because they were cheaper by-and-large than other Major Grocery Chains. I endured three years of the most unbelievably Poor Customer Service imaginable. I am a Retired Customer / Client Service Specialist, Canada / Europe, and tend to be more patient than most. To those of you reading this, the FIASCO of Walmart's Grocery Deliveries, in terms of showing up within the 'Delivery Window' on time are as scarce as Hen's Teeth. Then we have their ubiquitous 'We have Modified Your Order' and how familiar is that to the Reader? Then Fruit that has been Bashed / Bruised with nearly every Order making me wonder that the Buyer from Walmart who picks from whatever Food Terminal gets a Deal for choosing 'Seconds'. How about our bags of Potato Chips / Rice Cakes squeezed in bags, and on top of these whomever Packs then places large Plastic Bottles of Orange Juice and / or Fruit Juice and crushes everything even more. How many times, after the Driver has left, and we are emptying our Shopping and we find we also have a few Bags belonging to someone else? Or, we are missing items we paid for? The List is endless, and I finally told Walmart to (well) "Stuff It". Must I remind the Reader of the futility of calling Walmart's Customer Service; when there is a 'No-Show', or Drivers not showing up Hours Late, or the aforementioned Bags of Groceries we received belonging to someone else, or some of our Bags not delivered by the Driver. And where is the elusive Walmart Customer Service 1-800 Phone Number located? India! If you don't wish to remain 'On Hold', and at "Your Convenience," you are directed to create an Email. What good does that do? You've got someone else's Order, or part of yours is missing? If you are lucky, you will get a response Months later and most of the emails you locate from their Website do not accept Incoming Mail. How convenient. We all know HOW IMPOSSIBLE it is to actually speak PERSONALLY with a Walmart Employee. I RECOMMEND WE WALL SPEAK WITH OUR WALLETS AND STOP PURCHASING ON-LINE GROCERIES FROM WALMART. I find their Prices (for those of us on Fixed Incomes) not as competitive as they once were, and (for me) that was their only draw. Walmart's first Priority is $'s - everything and everyone else is secondary. Walmart DOES NOT DESERVE THE PATRONAGE OF CANDIAN CONSUMERS.

UPS to deliver a DR Table. Claimed my Intercom not working. My neighbour was in Lobby, said IT IS!

Tip for consumers:
More than myself in this building, UPS Canada Drivers have a reputation of alleging (1) We are not home (2) Refused Delivery (3) Intercom not working... NONE OF WHICH ARE TRUE...

Products used:
Dining Room Table purchased from Home Depot Canada, delivery via UPS Canada.... My neighbour was entering the Lobby, just as UPS Driver was heading out the door. She asked him what apartment it was, and Intercom wasn't working. She's had trouble with UPS too. She told the Drive it was working, and proceeded to dial my Buzzer Code and the phone rang, which I picked up. She turned around and the Driver was gone. Home Depot lost the Sale due to UPS Canada rotten Service. I have had goods damaged in Delivery by UPS and those I purchased the Orders from did NOT hand the Carton to UPS when they picked it up from the Retailers Loading Dock, and in the condition UPS delivered to me. This has happened with products I have purchased from Staples Canada, Hudson's Bay, Amazon Canada, and now Home Depot... Why are the Retailers allowing UPS to negatively impact their business, and cease utilizing them for their Customer Deliveries ?

I WAS an Amazon 'Prime' Customer for 7 years, and suffered through REPETATIVE & CONSTANT Delivery disappointments / frustration by those Amazon Subcontracts their Customer Deliveries to.

Anyone reading this will instantly identify with what I'm saying; those Large National and International Companies who claim we are not home, when we clearly are, who leave our Parcels in our Apartment Lobbies without even making an attempt to utilize our Intercoms, who advise Amazon they are 'On Delivery' with our Orders, Amazon places this information on 'Our Orders' when Customers access their 'My Account Tracking Information', and 'OUR ORDER'S ARE NOT EVEN ON DELIVERY'!

How many of us have received a 'Heavy Goods' Delivery of (say) an Appliance; the carton of which looks as though it were rolled down a hill? These large Carriers know Amazon will still pay them, not hold them accountable, and they just both continue to dump on us with total impunity.

How many of us have received (what I call) the 'Form Letters' from Amazon Customer Service assuring how much they 'Value our Patronage', will "Escalate our issues to Senior Management for Investigation / Correction" and NOTHING ever changes. Amazon's letters are ubiquitous, oozing with Platitudes, and so unbelievably insincere.

WELL, I JUST GOT TOTALLY FED UP - the "Convenience" (NOT) enduring On-Line Purchasing from Amazon is not worth the constant disappointment!

To 'Add Insult To Injury', Amazon' has the TIMERITY to repeatedly announce they are the 'World's Most Customer-Centric' Company. Such Arrogance...

Tip for consumers:
Personally, after reading so many NEGATIVE CANADIAN CUSTOMER REVIEWS about Amazon, WHICH MIRROR MINE, I strongly feel we should seriously look for other On-Line Companies, many who supply primarily the same merchandise as Amazon, and take our $'s elsewhere.

Products used:
Anything that was Damaged was accepted by Amazon for Credit to me without fail. However, the whole 'Return Label' process is time consuming, and often results in me having walk blocks to our Local Postal Outlet. Once again, this type of scenario just never improves....

Driver left my Groceries outside of my front door, on the floor, of the Hallway in my building. A kind Tenant clearly knew he was delivering Groceries, and admitted him in to our Senior's Building; the Driver DID NOT utilize the Intercom in our Lobby. The Driver DID NOT knock on my own Front door, not ring my Doorbell; just left my Groceries on the floor. Delivery Window was 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. and I did not know my Groceries were there until a neighbour knocked on my Front Door at 3:15 p.m... This is the second time in a year this has occurred. For those reading this, and from what I've already read on this, and other, Customer Reviews about Walmart this type of Service (cough, cough) is par for the course. I have had Walmart Grocery Drivers show up at my Front Door while talking / listening on their Cell-Phone, lay the groceries at my feet, or hand them to me to take them in, and not once speak to me; rather continue on their Cell-Phone. I could continue to outline more examples of the 'Walmart Brand' but it's clear hundreds, if not thousands, of Canadians feel the same. Walmart's prices may be cheaper, but their level of 'Quality Customer Service' is the very antonym of those three words... Disgraceful, and repetitively disgraceful, Service - NOT!

Tip for consumers:
Don't purchase Groceries On-Line from Walmart Canada; it is one disappointment / headache after another....

I only buy Groceries On-Line from Walmart Canada
