I just returned from a trip to Vermont with my husband and another couple. We were so excited to rent this cabin on a lake. From the time we walked in, it was nothing but a nightmare. This rental was advertised with a full kitchen with all the supplies we need to cook, a fireplace "stocked" to make a fire and "watch a game", a wrap around deck and a grill. Perfect, or so we thought. We traveled 6+ hours from NJ with a car full of food to cook for the next 5 days if our trip. As soon as we entered the cabin, there was a sign taped to the stove that said "out of order, please don't use oven". On top of that, there was no propane for the grill or any fire wood for the fireplace. It was 6:30pm on a Sunday with nowhere around open to get food. How do we cook food then? On top of that it's really not a location to easily get take out. We are left with nothing! Right away I tried to contact the maintenance manager who's name and number was written on the welcome paperwork. Her name was Sonja. I had a hard time reaching her cuz most of our phones did not have good service, and there house phone would not call out either (also note: their internet connection is very bad too). I finally got through on my friends phone, but Sonja did not pick up and her voice mail was full. Go figure. So I tried texting the number. She responded that she didn't have service and could not answer. She want much of a help honestly. When she did not pick up her phone I called Vacasa customer support direct and put the Complaint in. They were kinda helpful, but basically they just sent a message to Sonja and she sent someone over the next day with propane and firewood. As for the oven, she told me it's not "broken" and the could use it, it's just the knob does not line up right do it does not turn off easy. Needless to say... it ended up being a fire hazard. We basically stayed away from the stove. So much for a full efficacy huh? We also had no fire poker for the fire or fire extinguisher which would have been helpful with the fire hazard stove. The cabin was also listed with a washer and dryer. The dryer was not usable as it had no knob on it. No knob at all to set any setting. No curtains at all either. I had to hang a towel over the bathroom window so the house next to us couldn't see us ladies get out of the shower. As for the kick back and watch the game, they have no cable and the fire stick we found must have been locked cuz we could not use it. Thankfully, I was smart enough to bring a fire stick just in case. Without that, we would have had no tv at all. It gets better... after being there for only an hour, we here these rustling noises. There were mice running all over our packages food we had unloaded onto the counters. For the next 5 days we had to wash everything before we used it since there was mouse poop all over the place. In the drawers, on the dishes, in the cabinets. Everywhere! We would wash the dishes and have them drying on towels just to find them freshly drizzled with poop when we went to put them away. The plug to the microwave was chewed by the mice so we unplugged it as we were scared to get shocked. Just another appliance we couldn't use. They barely have what you need to cook with either. Everything was old. Fridge didn't seal and shut well. You name it, it went wrong. The only plus to this cabin is a nice a view and partially covered deck. That's it. I wouldn't even stay here again if it was free. With that said, I sent the complaint via email to Vacasa customer support along with pictures of everything I talked about. I was told it would be forwarded to the property manager. I asked to be called regarding the issue as I expect to be compensated. There rental was a health hazard as well as a safety hazard. Thank god there were no kids on this trip! I have now returned home, 5 days later, and have still not heard back. I will now let everyone know to WATCH OUT when booking with Vacasa. Our specific cabin was in Eden Lake Vermont and was right on the lake. If you see anything fitting that description, don't book it. It's horrible.
