airbnb.com will get you an apartment. They are beautiful and incredibly cheap. You can book your own flight for under $1000 round trip depending on when you book it and how far away it is. Turkish Airlines seems to be the cheapest, but with long layovers. You'll need to arrange transport to and from airport to and from your apartment. Someone will meet you there, transport you to your flat, then reverse process for the way back. Times of arrival and departure can affect the price of this. The price can be around $40 each way, but if you arrive later than 9:00 pm or depart earlier than 8:00 am, the price can jump to $75. Trains are good, but cabbies tend to take advantage of foreigners. Translators can be had for $30 an hour, but they ask you to buy in blocks, say 5 hours. The translator goes everywhere you need her, so if you take your lady friend to dinner, you will buy for the translator as well.
