Is it possible to download the FreeTaxUSA software, disconnect from the Web, then complete and print the federal return for mailing? Can my data be stored on my computer and not on the Web?

FreeTaxUSA.com has been approved for e-filing with the IRS since our founding in 2001. Most recently we've been working with the IRS and state tax administrators as part of the IRS Security Summit. The focus of the Security Summit is putting together even tougher safeguards for protecting taxpayers in 2016. There are steps we all should take, on a personal level, to help protect our information as well. The IRS has some great information about that on https://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Taxes-Security-Together.

I found Free Tax USA on the IRS web page. I choose their services because I qualified for free Federal Tax Preparation. When you click on their link, then you have to leave the IRS site.

Still I had to pay for my State Income Taxes. And I did it with my debit card. That debit card, on my checking account in the Bank of America, was then only three days old. I had not used that card before but to pay off for Free Tax USA's service.

Immediately I got more than $1400 out of my checking account in different fraudulent transactions.

I live in Houston, TX and some transaction are reported in Bismarck, ND and associated to the fraudulent scam number 866 - 594 - 3650. An old reported fraud scam which still operates. I'm still in the claiming process with the Bank of America. They had paid me back most of the money involved in the fraudulent transaction.

I have not doubt about the relation between this internet fraud and TaxHawk Inc. (Free Tax USA) because I had not used my card but to paid them.

The software is web based so you have to complete it online once you are done you can download the PDF of your completed tax return to your computer and store it there. The company will store your return on their site. They are IRS approved meaning they are a secure site.
