UPDATE: I contacted the private bookseller yesterday to find out the estimated arrival date of the textbook I ordered because now that the hold has dropped off (per textbooks.com when hold drops off of bank account then that means the book was shipped and order was processed) I wanted to know the estimated delivery date. They emailed me this morning to say that "you were given a full refund on your account so no book"! The "refund" they refer to is the HOLD dropping of the account, I still have a full charge for the book that went through the system and the money if out of my account on 8/2/10. Are you kiding me? OK, I am done with text.books.com (aka marketplace.com and all their private booksellers), I emailed all the parties concerned with this latest news that they all think I was refunded when in reality it was the HOLD dropping off and I sill have a charge on my account but no book! Then I called my bank and made a claim to dispute this charge that is still out there because I do not have the item (and appearently I am not getting it because these fools do not listen to begin with when I told them I had 2 charges on my account), my bank is giving me a credit for the amount (thank you Bank of America!) and I will order my book from half.com!

Do you find half.com textbooks really are much cheaper than buying them at the bookstore? Thanks for this info

I saved significantly on the used textbooks (purchased condition = like new), they are brand new still in the shrink wrap! I ordered on a Weds. They arrived via fedex on Fri. (2 day turn around). One book brand new at the bookstore (the college and B & N) averaged around $113 and $85 used through the college bookstore. I purchased that one for $72 with free shipping. The other book I purchased was $152 brand new and $113 used (at college bookstore, I purchased that one for $87. Both books are brand new, I opened both books. And if you register with ebates.com and go into the half.com book site through ebates.com they will open a tracking ticket for you and send you into the half.com booksite through their site. Once you purchase the ebates tracking ticket will give you cash back in addition to saving money. I have ordered alot through them and they do not place holds on your account in addition to charging the amount to your account.
