If one has a mental health problem please don't bother contacting Beyond Blue. By the time you have provided them with so much personal information one is left even more depressed etc, because they don't actually offer anything. It's like a sham organisation that collects large amounts of money from tax payers via the government. I was so disappointed that I felt worse afterwards

If one has a mental health problem please don't bother contacting Beyond Blue.
By the time you have provided them with so much personal information one is left even more depressed etc, because they don't actually offer anything.
It's like a sham organisation that collects large amounts of money from tax payers via the government.
I was so disappointed that I felt worse afterwards

I wouldn’t use it again.
They also want so much personal information.

I've tried contacting them on three different occasions looking for mental health support, and the best they could do is tell me to go contact Lifeline or to google it. Absolutely shameful. If I was a danger to myself, this would have tipped me over the edge. I can only hope they lose funding sooner or later, so that more appropriate mental health crisis supports can be developed in case.

Thought I couldn't have felt any worse... well I was wrong. After having an email saying the mods deleted my discussion (did not mention suicide nor did I use foul language) was my first post and posted in wrong thread that's all. Then spoke to counsellor who amongst my tears are pain couldn't wait to end the call on me. Beyond Blue you made me feel so much worse. It's disgraceful. Will never make contact ever again.

Unprofessional, they act under false pretences, discriminatory, only looking for faults, NO service whatsover provided, this is a dishonest mob not of any value, only there to attack you and shut you down. This is how they behave when you call after lecture from them, about their wants and views of how they think callers are. They have no communication skills, only talk at you. Shut them down as no use to anybody. We find their promotions false and misleading.

Reached out to beyond blue cause I just needed to vent and get some help with a situation I'm in. But all they did was ask me to do their 5 question survey, sent me a link to headspace and that was it. They totally ignored my message of me expressing my feelings and the situation I'm in. It was so useless. How they call themselves a mental health organisation I don't even know.

How can the government spends this much money in this useless service... I mean almost 50 millions? Surely there's more efficient way to use this money to directly help people... it's so frustrating, it's not rocket science really. PS: the people working in beyond blue are not trained in mental health and try basically doing it for money the same way a Coles worker so that give you an idea of the type of service you will receive. It's absolutely disappointing and depressing actually to know that those irresponsible and careless people are given so much money to play with our wellbeing and safety

Bit useless, you need data to contact them and I was on hold for a long time. This review thing is stupid I have to right a lot of extra stuff to right a review.

It's 3:40am, and I'm so frustrated and ANGRY at the generic responses to my open hearted LAST RESORT search after being screwed by other "Organisations". According to their survey, I'm in a SEVERE state (NO $#*!!), so I went to an online call with someone who can't/won't/isn't allowed to give half a $#*!.
I CBF going into detail, but I have less faith in being helped, and NO faith in getting any direction for the SEVERE help I've been crying out for! F&*$ERS

They are a joke. People ring them when they are at their absolute lowest and have lost all hope. They will just cut you off on the phone after 15 minutes and tell you the call has to end. How do they think this is going to affect people? It's disgraceful. Their counselors don't seem to even have a rudimentary understanding of mental health. They don't pull people away from the cliff, they push people towards it. I'll never make the mistake of ringing them again. I'm hanging on by a thread and they just cut my thread.
As for their "support" forums they are a joke. It's just take, take, take with very little give in return. It's the same few people who reply to posts if you're even lucky enough to get a reply.

This is just another public space that is unsafe for women who feel like they have nowhere to turn, and no one to turn to.

Unfortunately, places like this that can afford advertising and brand recognition are run with the Heavy-Hand of government influences, featuring ex PMs, and Doctors; just so a country can feel like it's providing a civil-service.

As someone in crisis with C-PTSD, who is constantly triggered by merely existing as a woman in this world, I found the site overwhelming and difficult to use when you just need a quick, private or anonymous chat with someone NOT over the phone.
Live-Chat isn't 24/7, and Forum Posts and Replies are heavily moderated - every request I made for help was denied, whereas the two where I offered support to others were "allowed."

The simple request of seeking resources specifically for women, on the online-chat (after a night of no sleep), were mind-boggling - why was a guy responding when I'd already filled out my needs as a woman? Is he a bot?

As a victim of rape, I don't feel comfortable chatting with a guy/bot, and due to being edited and silenced every day of my life, I don't feel comfortable, nor mentally-quick enough to think to ask for a woman, or communicate effectively.

Not helpful as a counselling or referral service.
Not a safe space for women to have a voice or seek help.

I had to download the "TalkLife" app, again, which seems mostly for young people - but at least you can post anonymously; and the kids are kind.

Do not contact Beyond Blue expecting counselling, regardless of what their website says. Here's what happened when I followed the links to call a 'counsellor' -
* Immediately inundated with useless information about the organisation by an automated voice
* Sat on hold for 10 minutes
* 'Counselor' picked up and asked a bunch of demography questions which could only be of use to Beyond Blue, nothing to do with me and my problems
* Allowed me to cry down the phone and tell them the struggles I've been having and then, barely acknowledging my situation and the real issue I had called to seek support for, asked me what services I wanted referring to
* When I said 'I thought this was counselling' and 'If it's not counselling, this isn't what I need' the person ended the call

You will not receive mental health support by calling Beyond Blue. You might receive referrals to mental health services. That is what they offer, NOT mental health support. This is extremely dangerous for people who are in crisis and seeking immediate mental health support and assistance. Do not call Beyond Blue for this. Call Lifeline.

Tip for consumers:
This is not a phone counselling service. You will not receive counselling by calling Beyond Blue.

Spoken to them a few times and what a waste of time it is. Useless thereapists couldnt handle a crying kid they do not know what depression is at beyond blue. There aimed at the problems kids face at school and thats it. If your a person with depression they will tell you to go somewhere else for help because they cant do a single thing for you. Useless useless useless waste of time

They're a corporate front for helping with mental health. They don't give a $#*! about your issues until you give them details like your cultural background. This company makes me want to die even more. Thanks, BeyondBlue

One goes here for help. Not to be told that you have basically inundated your 'chances' as you have mentioned similar topics in threads. If you are suicidal and need another excuse then by all means 'reach out' to these f pricks.

They were condescending, rude gave me no help because apparently cause I've called before I'm not in need of help. Poor excuse for a service bet it's funded by the Andrew's govt.

The lady said she would txt me support never did multiple times ive tried beyond blue everytime they have offered fake help or none at all. By fake i mean a number to a service that was shut-down. And last time said they will txt me support i received no txt. Was a waste of time. Waste of tax payers money.

I have never had anyone hang the phone before on me at 9:15am on 11 September 2023.

This unfortunately led to me not being able to talk and feeling ashamed and kicked out. So when I rang again I couldn't talk after they answered the phone for the fear of talking to the same person that just kicked me out without notice and making me feel worthless.

I think they need more help than me
I hope they can pay them more to be able to say: I'm being paid for this.

She made me feel ashamed to call back after shutting off the phone whilst I was speaking and without notice

I am suffering Depression. & I needed help last week. I was in a bad way emotionally.
I called the number & eventually got through to the woman, whose English was SO BAD, I could not understand her... I asked her to stop talking... She just kept Jabbering over the top of me.
All I needed was to speak to an intelligent person for 5 mins... Calm me down... This did not happen!
She then Hung up the phone?... Beyond Blue are FRAUDSTERS!... & that woman is a $#*!!
Multiculturalism & Diversity at its best... No one can understand them!
A bunch of Dangerous & Totally Incompetent people!... Should be Blacklisted!

Poor quality and next to useless counselling. Avoid. Beyond Blue suggest they're the experts but the quality of their counsellors is hopeless.

I have sought help from this site before. Initially it was great. I do not know what has happened but the site is almost impossible to navigate and I have decided not to waste my time anymore. No idea how people cope really as it is all a sham designed to make people feel they are cared about when they are not. Goodbye.

I had my first experience with calling this service recently on Sunday 13 March 2022 and it's an absolute disgraceful waste of time and exactly the same as lifeline. Why bother calling these moronic idiots who cannot change a thing at all or make a situation better? It's like talking to a tree stump and nothing has changed. I'm not suicidal however was in a very distressed state and it's damn pointless talking to anybody further how do organisations like beyondblue and lifeline get funding? I hope it's not government funding. Better off next time drinking away my depression and anxiety than ever confiding to anybody. At least I will keep my dignity and my privacy instead of having to tell an absolute stranger who cannot make anything better. If it was possible to give a review with no stars but just a review this organisation desererves minus 5 stars. They think they are helping but in reality it's just $#*! talking and wastes my time and drains my phone battery.

I was at my lowest and called them for help. It resulted in 8 Qld police breaking into my home and forcing me into a police vehicle and taken to a hospital. I was then forced to stand against a wall for 3 hours by 2 security guards. That isn't their doing I know, but beyond blue escalated things big time. I was down, not dangerous

I'm in a difficult relationship and the so called counsellor, agent, "Darren" said to me "We can't really solve people's circumstances".
So the government is throwing extraordinary resources into a useless organisation who all they do, is provide other useless "organisations" that could have googled myself or parrot back to me what I have already said?
If I was suicidal, this would have tipped me over the edge.
This came after the previous "counsellor" abruptly ended the chat because I told her that her suggestions weren't helping.
Avoid Beyond Blue - it is of absolutely no help whatsoever. None. They have no interest in you as a person. All they care about is having the "volunteering" experience with Beyond Blue on their CV.
There is no care, no willingness to help you find a solution, and you will walk away feeling even worse than you did before you called them.
Avoid, avoid, avoid.
A complete waste of space.
