In my area we have deregulated natural gas, and this adds lots of service fees to your bill every month. Here the weather doesn't get that cold, and some simple Buddy space heaters by Mr. Heater can more than adequately do the job for the 3 months. I like these tanks that you simply swap out for a filled tank as it is convenient, and the tanks are always certified so you don't have to worry about a tank expiring and costing a lot more.

If you have watched the news, some people in Asia have had tanks explode from contamination. I never thought I would need to worry about this. I had a tank hooked to a 4k/9k btu buddy heater and it started occasionally "spitting" is the best term I can relate to.

During the night it quit heating, and I just thought it was empty. But when I picked it up, it was heavy. No gas was coming out. I hooked in another tank, and no gas, so I knew I had a stoppage. I disassembled the heater and all the lines were full of oil. Totally clean out everything, and it works fine on another tank.

It turns out that the failed tank had almost 7 lbs of oil in it, that the company's separators did not remove. I do not know if the oil was causing the problem in Asia, but if you use one of these heaters and tanks and it starts spitting, just replace the tank immediately, and return the old tank, even if it costs you money.

One last note: you can get these tanks refilled at places like uhaul for less than walmart, and walmart is cheaper than home depot, plus the hd tanks are never as filled as allowed.
