My boat has been listed for a week and all I am getting are scammers. No serious inquiries. Every one that contacts me says the same story - they are too busy at work so they will send a bank check and their agent will pick up the boat. Not sure why Boat Trader attracts these types, but I'm not having the same trouble with Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace...

We listed our boat with this company for a fairly significant amount of money (~$150) and all we received in the short time we had the ad up was SPAM reviews. Every lead generated from them was spam, which could have led fraud. And they would not give us our money back because we did not call within 2 weeks of cancelling. Very disappointing. Do not recommend. Stay away!

Boat listed for 1 day and I've received 40 spam calls and 5 scam emails. Absolutely the worst. Don't waste your money

Luckily I only paid for the $56 service for 2 pictures and 2 weeks to sell our boat. It was on for 4 days, all I got was 5 emails from a website called boatwizard, asking about the boat, saying there were interested, etc. Looked at boatwizard, it is just another website wanting to sell our boat. Our son put it on Facebook Marketplace (for free of course) and got 5 legit replies in the same 4 days. We just sold it yesterday at full price from Marketplace. Luckily they only got me for the $56 ad.

I listed some jet skis on boat trader and I only got scammers. You will get daily requests from scammers. They say they can only communicate by email and they offer full price. They want to send you a check. Do not fall for this. I didn't get a single real buyer.

Do not waste your money on placing an ad on Boat trader. The only people that will contact your are scammers. Worst then craigslist ever was. In a month not one responds from someone really looking to buy the boat. Haven't sold the boat yet but much better action on Facebook market place

I just sold a boat I had posted for free on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace and payed over $300 to post on Boat Trader. The leads BT generated were completely useless. The site and the app are super hard to use. It's a huge waste of time and money.

After throwing $200 at Boattrader to list my boat I got several contacts. Unfortunately every single contact was a "SCAM". And then it went down hill from there. I've never seen a worst advertising - for sale website in my life. And in my opinion the company that owns/run Boattrader is totally aware that their online service is "GARBAGE". If anyone is thinking of listing their boat for sale I suggest Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace. Both those sites are free and I did sell my boat through a Craigslist contact.

So if reviews mean anything - please stay away from Boattrader because its a "rip-off" service that only provides Scam Artists a chance to swindle your boat, money or both. You've been warned boat owners.

Boat trader aids and abets businesses that commit fraudulent scams on the internet. While I was in the used boat market, Boat Trader sent me daily emails with boat specials. One boat in particular got my attention and I was ready to purchase the boat. The first red flag was that the boat was listed as being in Georgetown, SC. After inquiring further, they said the boat was in Nolensville TN. At least a 500 mile difference. I requested more info and got a return email that was very formal and stated that the boat was with a consignment agency named Fractal Auto and that I could deal with them. Long story short, Fractal wanted me to wire money and used all of these supposed guarantees that wiring is the safest way to send money. (That may be true if you are the one receiving the money, otherwise you have no recourse if the receiver is dishonest). They said that they would ship the boat within a 500 mile radius free of charge and you could get your money back within 7 days of the purchase if not satisfied. (Sounds good until you realize that you would have to trust a company that you have no knowledge that they even exist, in order to get that money now that it has been sent and belongs to them). They have all of these links to review sites talking about how great Fractal auto is, but when you actually try to go to that site yourself, you find that it isn't even a real site. It's a very well thought out and complex scheme. I'm certain that they have stolen a lot of peoples money. They even claim to be a partner of Boat Trader. Regardless, Boat Trader should be liable for the scam when Boat Trader actively sends the advertisement to the customer. Worse than that, I brought this scam to the attention of Boat Trader and not a peep was heard from them. I had long ago quit using Craigslist because of the scams, but Craigslist never sent me a sales ad for a scammer. That's not the case for Boat Trader. Not only do they allow scammers, they assist these thieves by sending out their fraudulent advertisement and when it's brought to their attention, they do nothing. I almost lost $40,000.

Tip for consumers:
Be very careful of scams with Boat Trader

I advertised my boat on BoatTrader.com. I received nothing but scammers' invitations, no legitimate buyers -- none. The most common ploy was scammers who tried to persuade me to accept a Cashier's Check, wait one or two days for the funds to clear, and tell me a delivery company would pick up the boat in two or three days. Of course, they wanted my full name, address, and bank information. They did not want to inspect the boat. Don't fall for it! Not only are you giving the scammer the location of your boat and your personal bank information, but the Buyer can put a stop-payment order on a Cashier's Check or withdraw their funds and close their account – assuming the Cashier's Check is not counterfeit. They are not the same as a Certified Check. A Cashier's Check is merely a check a bank issues for free or a nominal fee for their account holders. It can take weeks for funds to clear the banks when one deposits a Cashier's Check. If you fall for this, the drawee bank will not pay the funds, and your bank will reverse your provisional credit. You're out the money and your boat. Another scammer gave me a fake email address using *******@MSBack.Com and asked me to call and leave a voice mail message. The scammer "...will respond." There is no MSBack.Com. MSBack is an old DOS command for backing up one's hard drive. When I reported these scams to Boat Trader, their representative told me they would not refund me but would take down my ad if I like. Beware. Boat Trader automatically signs you up for auto-renewal. To cancel auto-renewal, you must call them. You cannot cancel auto-renew online. When I told them my call was being recorded for quality purposes, the representative stated, "You can't record my call. I'm in Florida." Really? How many companies do you call, and the first thing told you is that your call will be recorded for quality or training purposes. The bottom line is: in my opinion, don't waste your money on BoatTrader.Com unless you like to deal with scammers trying to steal your boat.

PLEASE STAY AWAY! THIS WEBSITE HAS TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT, AND THEY MAY SCAM YOU.
My name is Alexander Thomas Berg, from Arlington, TN and on August 5,2023, I listed three products as a private seller, and all my listings were accepted. Everything seemed fine until two days later when I received three email messages stating that all my ads had expired. I tried to reach their telephone customer support to find out what was happening. A rude representative answered and said they couldn't tell me why my listings had been removed. When I asked about the money they charged me to list the products on their website, she told me to file a complaint with my bank or risk losing my money. Unbelievable!

I did try to file a complaint with my bank, but they said I had personally authorized those transactions and couldn't assist further. Given this, I contacted BoatTrader's email customer support. As of today, August 26,2023, I have yet to receive a refund. I'll keep you updated on the progress, but please be aware that their services are subpar. I don't recommend using their website to sell your items. Look elsewhere, as these individuals seem to take people's money without any accountability.

Listed our boat... it was live for only 24 hrs with none of the info we added to the listing... after it was live for 24 hrs then it was no where to be found. I finally got ahold of a customer Service representative 10 days later since they are only available Monday- Friday 8-5 eastern time. She looked and could not find it... after about 30 minutes it miraculously appeared but with none of the info we added. When went went to" my boats listed ots states no boats listed... so there is no way to edit. Called back and they said it was an IT issue and they would put a ticket in... we should here back in 4-6 hours. Nothing that day called the next day same story... IT issue and we are short staffed. Called the 3rd day same story... as to talk to supervisor. Answer she was not in the office... but will call you back. Since they all pretty much are working remotely no one is on the office. Supervisor calls back and gives the same story... it's an IT issue and we are short staffed. We can cancel your listing and you can relist... I ask can you guarantee this won't happen if I re list... her answer yes ican guarantee it won't happen... I had to chuckle... how can she guarantee it won't happen when she can't even correct the current issue. I have left a voice message for Charlie Watkins the CEO of Dominon Enterprises who owns Boat Trader.com. I doubt I will get a response but at least he heard what horrible customer Service boat trader has.

I recently posted on www.boattrader.com and boats.com 5 products for sale. According to my bank statement, BOATS GROUP LLC charged me the following:
2023-01-12 $214 ( Listing ID: *******)
2023-01-15 $279 ( Listing ID: *******)
2023-01-17 $279 ( Listing ID: *******)
2023-01-23 $279 ( Listing ID: *******)
2023-01-23 $214 ( Listing ID: *******)
I recently looked on the website to see if my products are available and guess what, they are not. Second day I have received 5 emails saying my listings have expired, which is not true, I have paid for packages of 6 and 12 weeks, and have been past maximum one week. A few days later, my bank confirmed a refund in the amount of $214, no other refund from BOATS GROUP LLC. Seeing all this, I called their customer support and they were very rude with me, saying that they can't help me, to deal with my bank (I already did that, bank advised me to fill a complaint against them, seems this is a scam attempt), that we're done. This company is stealing money from their users and they never return it, you have to fill legal complaint to get your money back, a lot of time wasted for so poor services.
Apart of this issue, they never informed me about any abuse, they simply remove4d my listing from their websites, without any explanation. They websites are full of scammers, daily a lot of African peoples were contacting me with a check scam, have reported that and they said they can't control anything.
PLEASE BE AWARE, THIS WEBSITE IS FRAUDULENT, THEY WILL CHARGE YOU, THEY WILL END YOUR LISTINGS EARLIER AND THEY WILL NOT REFUND YOU.

Feel bad for anyone trying to sell a boat: they've accepted so many ads that each page takes forever to download and then to scroll thru, shame on them.
