“They scammed me”

hot p.
12/26/21

I bought a lifetime account. After 3 months they sent me an email saying that i was infringing copyright, and thus they will delete my account in 2 weeks. I did not have any videos or images, everything was in a zip format. That proves that they look at your stuff, degoo stuff can definitely look at your pictures, watch out. Their security is bad, no 2FA, not even an email when you log in from a new device, it's like we are in 2009. Do not trust them, you will lose your account sometime, they do not want users to actually use alk od their storage.

Tip for consumers:
if you upload many gb of data they will eventually terminate your account, they dont like people actually using the storage, it feels like they run at like a ponzi scheme, attracting people with their low prices only to scam them after some months.

This company promotes "lifetime subscriptions" and zero knowledge encryption that only users can access their cloud storage, only after less than a year, they access my files without any consent and permission then fraudulently claiming copyrighted material voids the service, then try to terminate the lifetime account. Sent many requests for answers but no responses. They lure people into the so call lifetime subscription then break their promise of zero knowledge encryption, randomly pick any files to say you don't own those files, allege you violate their policy, the so call appeal is a joke, no one will actually respond you. Like many others mentioned, they, in essence, are stealing people's money in a long-term scam.

This company has sold lifetime subscriptions to people and to get out of their contract, they falsely flag your files for copyright infringement, and close your account. They are stealing peoples money and lying in the process. Stay away from this company, and their claims of fully safe and encrypted files is a joke... How would they even be able to flag my flies if they are supposed to be encrypted? This means that they are crawling through all of your flies, so I hope no one put sensitive files in their cloud... Your data is not safe...

Without any notice, their bot decided that I uploaded something that infringed ( it wasn't) and deleted my account with years worth of photos. Unable to get any response from their crappy customer service. Go to the BBB and see how other customers have gotten screwed by them. YOU CAN NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR PRECIOUS DATA. EVER!

Degoo is a complete scam, your files are not safe.

They have sent emails to many people that they have scanned files and find some content infringing copyright. A few files were listed. They threatened to terminate my account if the were files not removed (these files did not even exist on my computer).

Its total waste of time, money and your memories. DO NOT TRUST THESE CLOWNS. Your personal data is not secure and may be shared with other companies. They are scanning your files breaching privacy.
Remove this crappy fraud cloud storage degoo.

Please read other reviews as this seems like a common practice from Degoo, to take your money then close your account based on nonsense claims of data infringement. Like many many others I received an email informing me I had infringed copyright on some of my files, I had not. You can ask for an appeal, my reply was "Hi, I'm the Degoo Service Bot. A human has reviewed your appeal and unfortunately you did not provide enough evidence to prove ownership of the files. Therefore, I have to inform you that your appeal has been declined. Your account will be terminated due to violations of our terms of service". This also makes a mockery of their secure data claims (zero knowledge encryption) …. A quote from their site "The top-secret feature in Degoo is a method of making sure it's technically impossible for anyone but you to access your uploaded files".
STAY AWAY FROM DEGOO!

I paid for storage and my dashboard says I'm using hundreds of MB of storage (I've uploaded nothing). I opened a support ticket several months ago and have asked several times for a reply and I've heard nothing from them.

I have an account with degoo cloud storage with over 1.6 TB of size and I have around over 400 GB of pictures. Overnight my extra storage size was wiped away and git back to default size and all my pictures are deleted. Worst ever case

Without any notice, DeGoo changed from providing an automatic backup service to just cloud storage for people who have the free account. The web interface is awkward, especially if you're looking for a photo. Their Support also dropped way off, from being responsive to being extremely slow, to eventually practically non-existent. If I didn't already have so much invested (time and uploads), I'd be looking for another service. However, if you only want to manually upload files to the Cloud and you want a lot of space for free, it's still worth it.

Headquartered in Sweden, Degoo is a free, automatic, online backup solution that gives you 100 GB of free backup. (You can purchase more.) All files are encrypted using military grade encryption (128-bit AES) and stored at multiple locations, to ensure maximum reliability. The one thing you have to do after downloading and installing their application is select the folders you want to backup. Degoo will detect any changes and backup your files automatically every 24 hours, or immediately upon selecting the option. You can turn off your computer in the middle of a backup as Degoo will resume your backup when your computer is switched on again.

Unlike many other cloud storage sites, Degoo does not offer a preview of your files. This is why I rated it 4-stars.

Use this link to signup with just an email address and both you and I will get an extra 3GB free.

https://degoo.com/g/hzRl7Fm

Once you create an account, you'll get your own link and can earn up to an additional 500GB of space.

I can confirm that as of May 2023 Degoo are STILL carrying out the same shady business practices as before. They hide behind a 'bot' who claims you have been uploading and sharing content that you do not own. I first encountered this 'bot' in 2021 when it accused me of this so I uploaded proof which Degoo accepted. However in 2023 I received a message from Dego claiming the exact same thing with the same content. I replied to explain this to them and this time they claimed my 'appeal' was rejected.

I replied again with additional evidence and explained to them what will happen if they delete my account. They said "Unfortunately, uploading copyrighted materials, even legally purchased ones, is not allowed". This information is going to be used against them because if it is legal to have the files on your computer it is also legal to have a backup of those files. It also does not infringe their own terms and conditions. They may claim it infringes 7.4 but in fact it doesn't since no laws are being broken. Of course if you're sharing copyrighted content it would be a different story.

I will not stand for companies trying to accuse their customers of breach of contract as a way to get out of providing lifetime services.

Here's the longer story.

I paid a one-off fee for a lifetime 10TB Degoo Ultimate subscription and that is exactly what I'm going to get from them unless they want to see the consequences of their actions.

Ironically they do provide the service they claim to provide in that you can upload your content to their site for backup purposes. What you need to watch out for is their company trying to renege on the service you paid for under false pretences. Be sure to do your research and hold their owners to account.

On 17th May 2023 Degoo changed tack and no longer referred to sharing content after I proved that I could not be possibly sharing anything from there.

On 17th May 2023 'Gerry' at Degoo said "Hello, Unfortunately, uploading copyrighted materials, even legally purchased ones, is not allowed. Deleting flagged files after they were found by the copyright bot is not a valid reason to approve an appeal or cancel file deletion. The account is unlocked and any active subscriptions are reinstated. Unfortunately, your files are no longer recoverable. Sincerely, Gerry, Degoo Support"

The problem with Gerry's message is that there is no law against making a backup of your content regardless of whether it is copyrighted (if it's legal on your computer then it's legal in backup form elsewhere). There are of course laws against sharing copyrighted content but my lifetime account with Degoo came with sharing disabled. In the absence of laws the question of whether backing up copyrighted content where the customer has paid for the content comes down to the terms of service. Degoo's terms of service as of 16th May 2023 do not mention the backing up of content which the customer has paid for.

Unfortunately for Degoo I will not let this matter rest until I receive a formal apology from one of their key players for actively trying to close lifetime accounts under false pretences. I shall update this review if I receive such an apology.

In the meantime I have reported the matter to various authorities governing companies such as this in Sweden starting with The Swedish Consumer Agency who have opened a case for the matter. I strongly advise other victims to do the same to stop Degoo doing the same with others. Keep records of your communications with Degoo as evidence.

Hello:

I have been a Degoo user since March 2021. My recommendation to everyone is NOT to use Degoo services, it is really very bad for the following reasons:

- When I signed up they promised 100 GB of storage for free. A few weeks ago they cut the offer to 20GB, but not for new users as would be logical, old customers lost 80 GB of storage.

- And then as I has excess storage, and, according to Degoo it is my fault!, since it is above the new occupancy limit of 20GB, they threaten me: if I does not delete the information above 20GB in less Within 2 weeks, my account will be deleted!

- No customer service, just threats!

- In view of this, I tried to download my information and there is the option of downloading by folders and not file by file. But when you try to use that option, you have to pay for it!

- Two weeks to download your information file by file!

- On the other hand, they have a promotion that consists of the following: for each commercial that Degoo offers to watch, when you finish watching it, you receive 750MB of free storage, as a reward.

- I saw a lot of commercials looking to increase my available free space, I spent a lot of time and resources to see those commercials, managing to go from 100GB free to 1.6 Terabytes free.

- But a few days ago without notice, it appeared in the Degoo application that I no longer had 1.6 terabytes but 300 GB.

- They cut without any reason the storage that I had earned thanks to the promotions they offered. Degoo made money from the large number of commercials I watched, and they took what I had earned, that is, they made free money, they just stole my earned storage.

- Now, they say that the 750 MB storage reward for watching commercials only lasts for 28 days! What good is it for someone to have storage that expires in less than a month!

- When the promotions for watching those commercials began, they did not have an expiration date.

Do not believe in absolutely anything that Degoo offers, for example, when Degoo feels that those 20 GB free right are too much, they will also take them away as they did with my 100 GB and you will receive the corresponding threat to delete your account if you do not lower your storage to the new limit they impose.

All promotions for viewing commercials are false.

And all this happens with the free plan, don't even think about purchasing a paid plan with Degoo. Don't waste your money paying them for something in which, too, they are going to default.

I am affiliated with several other services that offer internet storage, all of them are compliant with what they offer, both in their free and paid options.

The worst service of all is that of Degoo, they are unfulfilled, liars, mediocre and arrogant, without customer service. Never use it!

Don't make the same mistake I did of trusting such a mediocre company.

Any other internet storage service you come across, no matter how bad, will never be as bad as Degoo's.

Degoo is the worst of all!.
